- FashionScape.
Once upon a time, you saw someone wearing Bandos Armour or the brand-new Torva Armour. You'd immediately recognize it and you'd acknowledge the person using it as powerful, prosperous and you'd know the person was deserving of it, since it had worked for it. Now, you see outfits and armours that you don't even recognize. There are millions of different variations and the correlation between an armour looking good and it being high-level was lost.
I disagree with this completely, and I fail to see how this is even relevant to the issue you're presenting. I don't understand your argument that "Fashionscape" is contributing to the downfall of RuneScape and Clans.
If people want to spend real-world money on cosmetics that look good, that is up to them. It doesn't affect you, it doesn't hurt the economy, it doesn't even change anyone's gameplay.
There was never a correlation of armor "looking good" and "being good" to begin with. I don't know if you ever noticed, but the old Armadyl armor was, in fact, extremely ugly - even though it was among the best Ranged armor in that time. The older styles of Rune (especially Trims), on the other hand, actually looked much nicer - yet Bandos (hey, another ugly armor!) outclassed them in every single way.
In important PvM or PvP instances back then, no-one cared about how your armor looked. They didn't care if it was pink with dots, as long as it did the job it was supposed to. "Fashionscape" or rather, cosmetics in general, have allowed people to have a choice in how they appear to others, at no sacrifice to equipment stats. Anima Core looks ugly - yes, but now you can hide it under Defender of the Mind override.
Don't blame "fashionscapers" for any negativity you're feeling.

For games immersion is everything, fashionscape has killed the immersivness of runescape along with a number of other things

I'm not sure I see this with the same perspective.
I'd argue that the obnoxiousness of many of the MTX equipment is enough to disrupt the immersion of others. Personally I loathe cosmetic overrides - I couldn't care less about people paying for them, and whilst they have no direct impact on the mechanics of the game, it certainly does affect my view of the game.

I don't think anyone is blaming players, they're placing blame on Jagex for making them so obnoxious.
And in addition, for not providing a world where cosmetics are disabled.
If I was provided with a good-ping server where cosmetics overrides could not be used, then I would use that server and I would never complain about cosmetics again - because I'd no longer have them influencing my game experience in any way.

I would also play on a good-ping server without cosmetic overrides (or drakes). There are far too many distractions. Huge teleport animations would also be on my list of things I'd not miss if I no longer saw them while playing.
There are many many factors that killed runescape and fashionscape is not one of them, the big one that killed runescape for me was that we added the grand exchange in varrock so we as players can go buy , sell items there, i honestly miss the old days of actually talking to players, and trading and buying and selling items with each other, yes i know the trading with others is still there but its totally not the same way back then.
Had to put my 2 cents of info on this recently posted topic.
Peace out

Scret: Not sure why you feel that cosmetics spoil immersiveness. And I don't understand what you mean by 'obnoxious', either. How can clothes be obnoxious?

Because this was a medieval fantasy game where you were meant to be placed in a world of survival and questing, theres something about people running about in bikinis and other stupid clothing which kind of spoils the immersion.
Regardless there are a large number of other contributing factors which also contribute to this, its quite simply just not an immersive game as it once was which is highly important to this kind of game.
I mean this game is fine if you want to prance around at the ge spinning in circles with your furry friend all day showing off your microtransaction wear and trying to get the attention of jmods but as far as an immersive adventure game goes its greatly been diminished over the years.
I wouldnt expect any of the modern fan base to understand but from an era were the internet was made up of people that actually enjoyed to play real games and were this game attracted players from a gaming site and was run by a couple of real fans of games instead of a coperation cramming in as many trends as possible this game had something. Its why it grew so fast and won so many awards.

Flashy. Distracting. "Look at me!!!!!"
Any cosmetic items which do such a thing ruin the immersion of the game, and detract from its lore and art style.
Additionally, many of the cosmetic items don't fit RuneScape. They look obscenely out of place when you compare them to traditional armour in the game.
Furthermore, cosmetic items prevent me from seeing the equipment that people are actually wearing, which can affect my decisions in-game.
I have nothing against "skins", but overrides are awful. I'd play on a no-override world if I could, but sadly Jagex didn't have the spine to offer us one when they implemented the things which ruined the game.
