After reading the entire thread again, (yes, bored and trying to refill ectoplasmator at specs on ironman) it appears the consensus of this thread is that its a good idea, but the technological challenges outweigh its value at this time.

I have a request for Matthe / Maz to consider:

As there are a number of excellent ideas that have been largely shelved due to current technological issues, could we have a thread to keep these top of mind in case someone comes up with a better way to do it or the technology shifts? Maybe just a mod-only posting of a list?

I love the idea, but it feels a little like tilting at windmills until the tech barriers can be removed or an alternative approach exists. And it would make for a good read for new clf members and a tech update would prompt a run through to see if things are still not plausible.

Would very much appreciate a system such as this; as long as there was no limit on how many members we could Approve and how many members we could Deny.


We have a particular problem with a player who every so often guests in our CC and tries to cause drama over a certain Event we hold.
This members main account is banned, however, they continuously creates F2P accounts to harass.

It gets pretty irritating to Temp Ban so many of this members accounts, as like all trolls, they have nothing better to do with their time;they just keep creating new F2P accounts, guesting, causing drama, get Temp Banned and repeat the process for quite some length of time.


The solution isn't as simple as to turn off guest chat: we can't do that.
Our other Clans members who guest would suffer due to this and the troll succeeds.
So for now, when this obvious troll enters our CC, we have nothing else at our hands but to Temp Ban.

A screening system like this would be most welcome. Proud Owner of the

, I read through your thread the first day I got access to the CLF because it was on the front page. At the time, I was unable to empathize with the plight that your clan and other's were experiencing, since it was just so extreme.

For something like this, I also can't blame just the trolls, since as a generalization, both parties are at fault in situations like these. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but as background, I've been witness to too many situations where someone thinks they're completely innocent, but really they exacerbated things. Maybe this is a conversation about open-mindedness you should have with your entire clan, just in case one or two people are actually encouraging this destructive behavior.

Either way, regardless of the source, this is a problem that clans deserve the tools to be able to deal with. And now that I have a sense of what larger clans are like, and the legitimate troubles they experience, I would support something such as the "cooperative suggestion" and the ability to toggle whether F2P guests get screened or not.
