Other:
@Geeoh - We could maybe consider adding a combined cup once the main 3 have been sorted. However, 3 Cups is already a lot of work though and stealing creation is much less popular now than when it was a JCup event back in the day..
@Hopalong - Since it's a competition that is quite associated with Jagex and may get Jagex rewards, I think it's necessary for Jagex and in Jagex's interest to have a say in who is running it
@Yt-haar - two provisional dates atm. If we want to really rush things we could aim to start in the first week of August to try an illumination skilling cup. I'd rather take more time, do things well and start after Runefest in September so that doesn't interrupt us.

Changed Skilling cup ideas to:
- Fishing/Cooking
- Mining/Smithing
- Crafting
- Runecrafting
(Mining/Smithing and Fishing/Cooking are the only two obviously related sets of F2P skills I could come up with, except woodcutting and firemaking which are much less interesting. Crafting and runecrafting both include a bunch of stuffz and should be interesting imo.)

Renamed the Skilling Cup to Iron Skilling Cup in most areas

Honestly, I don't think there's much more to discuss regarding the PvM Cup. The next thing on that list should be choosing what bosses will be featured in it, and the rules that come with every different boss.
Hmm, well your plan for the Skilling Cup may seem more practical but if I'm honest, its a pretty dull looking tournament. F2P grinding fishing/cooking for 6 hours etc, week on week. The prospect of P2P skills are much more interesting but then membership costs come into play which would be an issue understandably.
Unfortunately my clan are not keen on the plan for the skilling cup this year so most likely won't be competing.
I'm pretty short on ideas which would work better given the limitation of resources available to us but if I think of anything I'll let ya know.
I like to volunteer to help with the Iron Skilled Cup! I think i can do all the things mentioned on the thread (depends on date of clan cup)
Questions I have about the Iron Skilled Cup:
- The XP is tracked with the hiscores I guess then, but do they come in the highscore if their stats are not high enough?
- How can I check if people use a head start?
- Can we allow the participants like an hour game time and not let them gain xp in the skill cup for gather items to start with it, like money for rune pick/fishing bait/...
- Is an easy spreadhseet gonna be enough, cause I only have a little experience with google docs spreadsheet unless someone else makes the spreadsheets of course

@Yt-haar - yup, it's not ideal but, as you said, our options are very limited by feasibility =/
@Ceecs
- F2P Ironman stats appear when they exceed 2.1k total xp or so, I tested it earlier. So if they don't appear on the hiscores then they have negligible xp
- The skilling thread for the week would be posted after the update on Monday. Since everyone logs for the update, you can run the xp tracking script and see if any account has gained xp before the competition has started and have a head start.
- Monitoring that noone plays over an hour in such is unfeasible without Jagex help and I don't think it's worth asking them to check time played both before and after the competition =/
- I'm not techie but I think it's possible to make one spreadsheet for the skilling cup. We'll see

PvM cup: work in progress I'm thinking of picking a boss each week and each clan must do 2-3 sessions of kills and maybe most kills per hour?
I'm not really sure about this particular idea. Challenges solely based on kill-count can result in the mass clans winning them fairly easy, leaving the actual elite PvM clans (that have less members because they have higher requirements) behind.
I'm so glad you've thought of this because I would've missed it. I do think this could be fixed by adding a simple cap on the amount of people participating. Example: 10 people like the skilling cup. However, I am leaning toward's hopalong's idea with fastest kill time because it would save alot of headaches and man hours for the cup organizers.

6 hours seems good in my opinion. Why? Because lets say we throw a skill like cooking. For ironman, you have to fish before you can cook. Therefore, it actually takes longer than we think and the 6 hours would fly by. Try it sometime and you will see how it works. Lol
I like the way everything is coming along. I'm hard to get ahold of on the forums and I'm in game alot more if anyone wants to discuss this in a friends chat or something. Also, my PM is always on.

Calm addressed the fact that we would require some Jagex involvement in ensuring participants keep to the time limit. Hopefully some Jmods would be willing to quickly check the accounts listed for each week, or at least spot check a handful of accounts the organisers give them. Of course, any clan deliberately trying to cheat the time limit should be disqualified from all 4 Skilling Cups.
That's fine but my MO so far has been to not rely on JMods to provide that level of support is all. If they are going to that's great! But we don't know if that will be the case. Like Calm said it would be in their interest but that doesn't necessarily mean they will actually provide that level of support.

Guess we need some rule that makes things hard to overlay then. If it were required to hover over worn equipment before the kill, would the information pop-up animation quell any overlay issues?
Yea exactly, except hovering over equipment sounds like a hassle. The easiest way to do this would be to have players set their interface transparency above like 10%. This would make it pretty hard to spoof, but requires players to be using NIS (I don't think this is a huge issue) and not the Legacy interface. The only small quirk to this would be that the buff bar/equipment screen would need to appear on the game and not in any black space, but that shouldn't be too problematic

So true, but the work was really (nothing against our compadres) done by 5-7 of us. Also a lot of things can be improved on to make it tighter and easier on everyone involved esp with the experience that Calm and I have, I'd think.

Fair enough.

Aye exactly. It's just a matter of finding challenges that have a low barrier to entry (relative to the boss selected) and a high skill cap. That's the idea, at least.
PVM Cup ideas are coming soon (tm). Within the next 24H.
Also, how do people feel about setting up a Discord/Skype group (I imagine more would be up for Discord due to Skype's presumed security flaws) just to bounce ideas off each other to perhaps get faster responses? Also, I'm pretty sure I can offer my TeamSpeak (if people would like to use that instead) as a meeting place if people are interested that too. Just let me know what you'd like to do! I'm kinda tough to get a hold of in-game but Discord/Skype/TS are some of the better ways to contact me outside of the forums (I check daily).
