Why should a clan that is long dead be allowed to keep a citadel?

Think about it would do, instead of working towards a new citadel, people would join clans that already have the tier 7 because they no longer have to work for it. Well established clans will have a clear advantage over new clans starting out. Those new members should have to work to maintain the citadel of the clan they chose to join.

Except for getting out an avatar and working on the upkeep, when was the last time you went to your citadel and what did you do once there?

Had to think about this, which I guess is the answer in itself :p

Couple of days ago I had to go and recall a rogue ava (had been dismissed, but decided not to come home) which sort of comes under getting out an avatar. Prior to that I think would be the 2014 Christmas drop party ...

Having said that, I do think that there should be some upkeep requirements but that the time it takes be reduced based on fealty - the more stars you have the less time needed to cap.

And this doesn't happen now? There's plenty of T7 Citadel clans that don't have mandatory capping, what stops people from joining those and capping on whatever they want? Don't you think that's a big advantage too?

Removing upkeep wouldn't cause what you're suggesting to happen, because it's already going on. If anything, it may actually decrease that because people will be more motivated to get their clan Citadel to T7 because 100% of resources will go towards upgrades, rather than being bogged down by upkeep.

Recruiting is competitive regardless.

But as it stands right now, wouldn't you agree that a T7 Citadel has an advantage in recruitment than a T1 Citadel clan has?

Yes but a clan that never has to worry about working towards a citadel again, and put effort into maintaining a citadel has work power to put into other focuses such as more recruitment.

But my main argument is, a clan that is long dead should not be able to keep a tier 7 citadel and pick up where they left off.

Support no upkeep or doing SOMETHING about the problem.

It took us 27 months to build our Tier 7 stronghold and even longer to max out the rest of the buildings due to the visitor count requirement. We've earned the right to enjoy it. Those who care about the content and cap weekly shouldn't be penalized by those who don't.

Jagex have contributed to the current problem.

Cap three weeks in a row? Great! Keep the three fealty stars on your cloak forever even if you never step foot in the citadel again. You can look like you contribute even when you don't. Gotta keep up appearances. Pretty sweet, eh?

Haven't capped in months? No problem! Just pay your orts and get the boosts anyway. Motivated to help out and cap yet?

Ohhh! You've capped every week since citadels were released? Gosh. Your clan was 50 stones short on upkeep cos Player X just couldn't be bothered this week. No ava boost for you this week! And take a look at your dilapidated citadel. Don't it look purdy? Good luck getting three more players to cap this build to compensate for the loss of your avas. Having fun yet?

Like I was saying... Reward those who do nothing and punish the ones who do. Good job.

Can still keep the visit req. that will deplete dead clan citadels.

Its just about taking the unnecessary pressure off of having to continuously maintain the upkeep, its not fun.
