As previously stated by many, crap happens. Things come up and Jagex, as a business, needs to make hard choices about what to use their resources on as they are certainly not unlimited. And we should understand that.

But no, I do not believe there will ever come a time to throw in the towel. If you are giving up then that's entirely on you, but Jagex is certainly not giving up on us. If they were, we wouldn't have two amazing JMods who take time out of their day to assist and support us in every way that they are able.

Bottom line though like most games studios these days Jagex business decisions have resulted in a lower quality game.

Jagex are a business yes, they ceased being game developers a long time a go.

Opinions in quality are entirely subjective. Personally, I disagree. I think RS has grown into a better game in the last few years, not worse.

You, also, are definitely entitled to your opinions. But if you don't enjoy the game, then I have to wonder why you play it. I mean, it is a game after all, and it's purpose is entertainment and enjoyment.

Like I said before, the best advice I have ever received on this subject is to enjoy the game for what it is. Focus on the high points and what makes RS great because it will never be perfect for everyone.

I'm not really here to argue about it; I just wanted to toss in my two cents. Obviously no matter what other people say we are all going to have our own opinions on the subject, and that's perfectly okay. Personally, I choose a more positive outlook. The glass is definitely half full. :)

Without checking every single page, has a JMOD even bothered to reply? The OP raised many valid points, yet it all seems to go unanswered.

Maybe he should take to twitter, then paste the replies on here.
Nothing to see here newb, move along!

There are JMod replies on pages 3, 6 and 7. It took twenty seconds to find them.

I have not "played" the game in years.

Ive logged in to talk with clanmates and to afk it while i play other games, i enjoy interacting with my clan and thats it.

Granted there are some good things in the game and im not saying its by any means a terrible game & there have been some good updates in recent yea (ports & ironman) but they are far too few and the overall feel of the game, its direction, its confusion about what it wants to be, Jagex's bad decisions, i dont have confidence in its future or the vision Jagex has for the game, the PVP aspect of the game being pushed out and into a whole new game of its own really sealed that for me. I dont even PVP but i understand the importance of it in this game.

Sadly thats an extremely common theme amongst majority of players. Its purpose is entertainment and enjoyment so why is that not the focus?

Darkscape couldve been a great edition to RS3 but instead they made it its own game simply for one reason and one reason only, to get players to start a fresh new game because that will earn them more money.

You should immerse yourself into the game and experience first hand some of the newer content. Sure, some of it is pretty silly but a lot of it is pretty cool.

Take the new quest lines for example, the lore is exemplary! The gods are all back, crap is going down and it's AWESOME. Some of my clannies and I have TeamSpeak discussions about the lore and everyone gets really excited about not only what is happening, but the possibilities of what may happen next.

And this year the Slayer skill has gotten a lot of love with quality of life improvements, from a new ability, to the interface counter addition, to other smaller tweaks like the cancel option in Slayer Master dialogue. Slayer is my FAVORITE skill; I have 200m experience in it. :P

Anyway, I can't promise that you'll enjoy all of it but you may find some things that catch your fancy. But if you choose not to play the game then you shouldn't really worry about whatever happens next with RuneScape. :P

Unfortunately its the silly parts that ruins the rest, i cant take the lore seriously when it involves cabbage gods and penguins and the fact that everything is just a pun on something in real life. When i compare the lore to something from a dungeons and dragons game its just too inferior and uninteresting. Very lazy and very low quality, yes sorry but having everything just being a joke or a pun is lazy which is a shame because it does overshadow the very good story lines this game does happen to have.

For me world events do not work in a game like runescape, i would much rather the stories had stayed within quests only and other than that lumbridge still looks a complete and utter mess.

There are still aspects of the game which are good and thats mostly why i still try

Moving on to the way the game looks, well i have to say there are some very good graphical reworks going on but if you look at the world itself its not very good, one of the most important aspects to any fantasy in general let alone a fantasy MMO is the world it is set in. Unfortunately down the years not enough thought has been given to the feel of the surroundings, its been pretty much dump what new dead content you can find into any open area of the game, the map is small considered to how much is in it. this doesnt give the feel like you are in an expansive fantasy world that is open for you to explore.

Slayer is one of the more positive aspects of the game.

These all may seem like minor details to some people but getting the minor details right, improving the overall quality is what changes something from being average into a work of art.

Runescape has always been about the puns and the Brittish humour. The cabbage god is loved by a large number of players which is why he keeps getting voted into things and content made about him. You've stated you don't really "play" the game. I find it hard to believe you when you say "common theme amongst majority of players".

Of course you're going to feel neglected in your wants for clan content when Runescape as a whole doesn't fit with you. And therefore these other things which are often higher priority than clans don't feel like they should be to you. Personally I love the quests for the puns and the silliness and I'm not actually interested in Lore. And then there's players which are the opposite. There are a wide number of players in Runescape and Jagex are always trying to balance it for them. If you fit into neither camp then it's not Jagex's fault for trying to cater to those other players.
Ho Ho Ho!

^ Clan updates are for the benefit of all - it's a gameplay development feature, not a 'perk' or to add 'personal appeal' - at least, not the ReWrite or parts of it. That was REALLY important in terms of improving interaction among the entire game's community; at least those involved with clans. And since most people are in clans, I'd guess at least 80% or more than half. Clan:
