Back in the day when only FC's existed as "clan chats" it was actually way better. We could set who could join by setting a minimum rank.
Someone was having a disruptive behaviour? Kick them from the FC for 1 hour. Still don't behave? Remove from FC.
Need quests? Open FC to anyone. Need only a few guests that you trust? Set it to friends only and invite them.

We are kind of "forced" into CCs from FCs and we actually have less option to deal with issues regarding guests/members joining into a certain chat or the disruptive behaviour I was talking about earlier.

If your clan doesn't have such issue - good for you! But there are other clans out there that needs this update, hence their frustration that grown over the past few years.

EDIT: When I heard about the NXT client being developed as a "client which is highly controllable" it actually gave me some hope. With an actual client like that they could finally make changes in the system. But before that we have to wait until it comes out, Java and HTML5 disappears... that's like... a bit less than a year I assume.

But hopefully I'll be wrong about the date. :)

Nxt is still run on runescript I believe, clans won't change because of that.

Its not as if we are asking for loads,

What we define as loads and what jagex does will always differ due to jagex knowing the code and requirements. Most of what we want is behind the horrible clan code.


I'm also going to say something I hvae no doubt is controversial, but must be said... Clans are only a SMALL part of rs. To give us focused time, they must unfocus somewhere else...and there are tons of areas wanting that focus time. Norne, I have to disagree with clans only being a small part. MMOs, including Runescape, would not have as many (dedicated) players if not for guilds of some sort. Every MMO has a system, every MMO needs it. MrBrokenBow - Former Leader and Founder of

I've suggested an avatar icon next to the player's name in the clan list when it is summoned. Waited over a month now for a reply on that and still nothing.

The JMods that are meant to be in-charge of this forum and review any suggestions and give feedback are neglecting us completely. When there is not one JMod reply in over a month to a suggestion thread that has quite a bit of support is extremely poor.

Clans are dying thick and fast and it doesn't seem like they care in the slightest. When they do give responses, it is something like "We don't have enough resources to put into this" or "It just isn't technically feasible"

For anyone that doesn't know "technically feasible" is Jagex's way of saying we just can't be bothered to put any effort into doing this.

Replying to keep an eye on thread think more on the matter.

Andras brings up legitimate points, but I am also somewhat swayed by Archaeox.

At this point I'd settle for lack of interference (cooldown update) and keeping mtx out of clans, especially when we're told clans are bottom of the totem pole and hard to develop for. I'd also like it if mods would stop making threads like clan plan and clan funnel when they know these updates are unlikely to see the light of day. I know plans change and stuff comes up, but its become the norm rather than an occasional misstep.
