I like the idea of tying the XP boost to your fealty rank, and I like that all ranks will be able to summon the Clan avatars (personally, Incursione currently allow every clanmate to summon avatars by assigning everyone Admin+ ranks.)

However, I don't like the overall changes being made - and I hope I can clearly explain why to the point where the feedback will be considered.

I think you guys are changing too much about the Avatars in a single update, and I feel this rework has stretched too far from the original purposes of Clan Avatars.



To me, Avatars exist for the following purposes:

1) - To serve the diverse needs of different clans. (This is why we have a variety of buffs instead of just an XP buff.)

2) - To bring clanmates together. (This is why we share a set number of Avatars, and why their buffs should work server-wide.)


By removing all of the buffs you destroy the first purpose. By giving every clanmate their own Avatar you destroy the second purpose.

Moltare's response to these points was essentially "our data showed [...]" -

This feels self-defeating. The reason the data shows the Avatars weren't being used as intended is because their design didn't push said intention strong enough. All of the buffs need to work server-wide, and all of the buffs need to be useful and uncontested, as I will try to describe later.

The Skilling bonus brings Clanmates onto the same world, and often to the same location. The reason is because it's a good buff; and it achieves the original two purposes I described. The rest of the buffs do not achieve this simply because they aren't good enough; improve them and they will achieve this.

I think the following would be nice overall:



• Keep the Avatars as a shareable resource to encourage playing together.
Let all ranks summon the Clan Avatars, and if needed increase the amount of Avatars for large Clans up to 7. Clans should encourage team/local play; giving each clanmate a personal Avatar avoids team/local play.


• Improve the unused Clan Avatar buffs to keep the Avatars diverse.
- Skilling Bonus is fine.

- Skill Plot bonus should be buffed to 50%. 10% is too low; the buff should be a way for people who hate capping to cap quickly at the cost of XP.

- Heal-Over-Time is a strong buff; it should really scale with Summoning level at least. It would be great if it also healed clanmates server-wide for a small amount; this way it encourages clanmates to be on the same server. It's a fantastic buff for PvM in general.

- Familiar Faces is currently useless. Instead it could increase the Special Regeneration rate of familiars nearby, and give a small server-wide bonus. This would make it a great option for team bosses where Titans are used, such as Raids, the Kalphite King, and Vorago.

- Protector should block 10% of damage dealt to the Avatar's warden, 5% to those nearby, and 2.5% server-wide. It's kinda hard to balance it because people will default to the Heal-Over-Time bonus.

- Random Ressurection can be removed as it is trumped by Signs/Portents of Life.

- Auto Ort can be removed as it will serve no purpose once Orts are removed.


- Add New, useful buffs.
A couple of ideas could be buffs which automatically loot items, automatically disassemble items, chances of supplies not being consumed, etc.

I thought there were discussions in the original thread about capping to be able to get the XP boost, but I don't see that noted in these updates. I could be mis-remembering though.

Can you please confirm if clanmates will just need to get to the citadel to gain the base 3% xp boost or if capping will be required at all?

Last night I made a judgment call based on feedback I saw.

All clan members will be able to at least attune to the Habitat for the XP or Skill Plot Boost, if they get to Fealty 1, 2 or 3 they'll receive a XP boost of 4/5/6% respectively.

In retrospect allowing Clans to stop certain ranks benefiting from any Ava bonuses at all was silly so I've reverted that.

I'm not sure why it'd be considered "silly" to be honest. I think both position are valid, mainly depending on your view of life.


• You can argue that because Clans are no longer limited to three Avatars each, everyone can freely get their own without any need for rank restriction.


• Alternatively, you can argue that Clan Staff may want to reserve the Avatar for higher ranks as reward for clan contribution (like many currently do). If clanmates of that clan don't like this then there's nothing stopping them from choosing a different clan with a different policy (come to Incursione, we already allow everyone to use the Avatars. :P )

Thank you so much, I was concerned this would get scrapped, but really glad it's going ahead.

Hopefully it will encourage more people to actually get involved in being interactive in clan citadels, instead of having the usual capping team doing all the work every week :p

I like the changes as well. It should help getting clan mates into the citadel but it does seem to make tier 7 useless beside maybe some cosmetic stuff. I'm sure y'all can find something to add to make tier 7 a worthwhile goal for the clans who haven't reach that point yet.
