Sorry for my lack of response, I've been locked in a freezer & was unable to get out.
Thanks everyone, particularly L0NE DRUID for that extra effort that is often thankless.
I'm glad this was able to help some clans, I myself was made aware of this from a thread in this forum well prior to mine.
As far as I know no clan member was successfully scammed.
My immediate response, even before posting this thread, was to inform the clan via a detailed post on our recruitment thread about what was happening, & also asking those who read it to spread the word in CC - yes awareness is certainly the best defence.
I also locked clan chat to guests for a few days for the reasons mentioned in this thread - scammers then have to do more work to find out who's online.
It's not something I like to do as a rule, but it's correct in certain situations & a few days is usually enough.
I'm disappointed there's been no

feedback. I'm trying to find out if these people are free to continuously make new accounts for the purpose of scamming clans.
Something that's really important, which I'd like feedback on even if they won't provide any information about how scammers are dealt with, is:
Jagex
, do you accept that you facilitate this by having a capital i indistinguishable from a lower case l in in-game usernames, & will you do the work to make this (SURELY SIMPLE?) fix, so that no 2 names can appear identical?
I mean until that happens, it's really hard to believe they're even taking us seriously.
If you're already on it, I'll be pleasantly surprised, & I thank you
