Rival had our 5 year anniversary in October. I joined about a week after it was founded, and never left. In March of the following year the founder conveniently decided to walk away, locked the fc, and made everyone a general, effectively putting a death sentence in place. We had 2 choices, let it die or move on. Moved us all to my fc and we continued on.
I was leader for 2 years before stepping down due to r/l taking up the time I devoted to clan leading. We have had our ups and downs, were fairly large and very active but with a combination of people leaving with EOC or going to OSRS we are now pretty much a little dysfunctional family who are happy to call Rival our home.
When we were large the hardest thing was making decisions based on what was best for the clan as a whole. If you have a large clan don't try to do everything yourself. For the 2 years I led I did everything, organized events, competitions, kept records, fixed issues, mediated disagreements, and when I stepped down realized that for 2 years I had barely made any progress in the game, which really didn't matter, it just showed how much time and effort it takes to be a leader.
I agree, losing members was always hard and it still makes me smile when some long gone, hasn't played in years member pops into cc just to say hi and see if we are still around

Comments ~ I just enjoy playing the game one day at a time. I'm no longer that concerned about what happens to the Clan. We're at that point where it's like I want the Clan to grow, but I don't care if it doesn't given people join and people leave all the time. Then again, most of the people that leave us rejoin as Guests; so it's like they don't really leave if they're still playing.
Our Clanmates run the events. I'm not really that concerned about what they do since we typically have several groups of people doing events. It's weird 'cause the game is easier now, so PVM teams tend to be 3-5 people most of the time which is why we run multiple at the same time. I'm not actively seeking wars anymore; last few I did where mainly to kill former members for fun. Sometimes we go into the Wilderness to PK some Noobs; and we're affiliated with a Warbands team as we were previously affiliated with teams from other minigames. Our Citadel is being maintained although it's sort-of stuck on Tier 4 due to lack of visits.
We used to be strict with a lot of things including participation; we're more relaxed now. At first a lot of people didn't like it coming from Clans that were very demanding, but then they got used to it. I often feel like I'm back where I started just playing alone by myself or with select friends. The whole "let's do stuff as a Clan" thing has sort-of faded into "let's do stuff, you me and other people" as it began.
No struggles, no worries, why bother? RuneScape is a game; and if you're not having fun, you might as well stop playing it. We have like a whole system of how the Clan is supposed to operate, yet most of the time it doesn't seem to matter. I've found people just do what they do whether they're told to do it or not. For the most part, we just try to keep good communication to know what people want and then we do our best to deliver it.

That's amazing, I can't imagine doing that for 2 years.. I did this for 6-8 months, but that completely drained me and there were many times I thought about giving up. Running my clan has become so much easier now that others are involved and helping, I hope you were able to do the same with your clan
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"
Soul Empire was a clan that was created by myself and a small group of friends. It was purely made for people that played Soul Wars. The clan went strong for a year or two, but then Soul Wars started slowly losing people. So did the clan.
Once we made the clan Pvm & social related, it started growing again. We had alot of fun and everyone was pretty close. Even when the clan had more then 100 people talking at once... One day though, there was some drama. The clan owner had some issues in his real life, and got annoyed by something in the chat. It spiraled out of control and the other co-owner and myself eventually left (after we had a good talk).
Wandoodle (6 months), Deputy Owner:
Currently I am a Deputy Owner in Wandoodle, a Pvm & Social related clan that was created on March 2014.
This clan was made by a group of friends that were very good pvm'ers. The 'other' co-owner from Soul Empire joined it with me in June!
Wandoodle is started to develop in a very social and laid-back environment, and even the Pvm'ers are getting some good experience in. I worked my way up in ranks and became a Deputy owner with a special job: Recruitment Lead. The team I put together to recruit boosted the clan size surprisingly much. However, a month ago we got a new Recruitment Leader. She is doing amazing and boosting our clan size a lot!
After she got the job mine changed to 'Administrative Lead'. Which basically means that I manage everything that involves clan members. I like it very much, and I also can get my post count up with this
.
Today we've hit 10B experience gained in the clan, and I'm sure that there will be lots of more good achievements to come in 2015.
