MrBrokenBow
Deputy Clan Leader, Main founder of Rebel Rising.
Very close to a year (23rd December 2013 founded)
Comments ~ I used to be the Clan Leader, and discovered this forum application by mistake at 3 months in to my clan. So, I got some more members for 6 months and applied to join. We struggle to keep active players, and especially getting them to cap in the citadel (not a huge issue but it's nice to have a citadel).

Don't run events anymore due to no one but myself and a couple of admins/deputy owners turning up - though we are recruiting more heavily now, so may restart on events.

I handed over the reign of the clan to xDione, now known as Niomi, a couple of months back after I was becoming less active (I used to AFK Runescape while playing on console, but then I bought a gaming PC) so to make our leadership look more "alive" I handed over the reigns to a trusted deputy.

Founder/Owner
: ObbyWarriors
[prev: ObbysArmy, 0bbyKnights, ObbySquires, ObbyKings]
Time:
6 1/2 yrs and counting...

Obbys started out in '08 as sw clans under the names ObbyKings (130+) and ObbySquires (100+). I was leader of Squires then given co ownership of both Kings and Squires before a big dustup between the founders. A certain founder of those and myself took Squires and switched Kings to 0bbyKnights and continued on with the clans. We gave Brucelee1231 co ownership with us at this point. Fast forward through running 2 clans worth of fun, chaos, wars, drama and we had yet another major event. Some in here that have a history of leadership from old SW era know the details of this major event and the reason behind it. I and Brucelee had to make the decision to pull all of our members of both clans into my backup chat, ObbysArmy, and boot the other founder for the literal safety of our members. More chaos and a brief civil war ensued and Bruce, myself and other Obby leaders won. We opened Warriors shortly after. Both clans ran for quite awhile and fast forward a yr or so, insert drama, etc and we merged Army into Warriors. Many of our original Obbys retired after maxing, including my partner in crime, Bruce.
Obbys are now more of a skilling and socializing clan since the majority of mems are close to max or already there. I have 3 co owners now, Red Sonja, Ponamis and Blush Weaver. They are amazing with our members and with running things.

If my experience of the past 6 1/2 yrs with my Obbys can be of any help to newer clan owners or leaders, I'm glad to share. ALWAYS praise and thank your staff & mems, you never want them to feel unappreciated. The ones that whine and complain usually wont be there too long. There will be fights, retirements, backstabbing and civil wars but also laughs, triumphs and celebrations. ENJOY running a clan and most importantly have fun!

* Role Play Clan Leader, 1 1/2 years or so, in
The Order

* Co-Leader of
'Art of Skilling
for around 4 months, Clan Wars leader for around 10 months

* Owner,
'Phantom Skilling'
for around 5 months - disbanded to to real world issues.

* Leader,
'Tranquillity'
for over a year, left due to other leadership becoming inactive.

* Co-Leader,
'Hall of Skilling'
for over 2 years and counting.

So as you can see, I have jumped around a bit. Recently this has been due to the leadership becoming inactive, or promoting members too fact - something that I simply can never 'click' with.

The last 4 clans have consisted of many of the same members, many following me from the clan I owned. 6 members have even followed me from 'Art of Skilling'. Essentially, there's a 'core' of my previous clans - which is actually quite nice.

Clan Founder: Chill Mates
4 years & 7 months (Party next May!)

Proudest Accomplishment: Achieving Tier 7 with 90 clannies and a totally complete Citadel in a week or 2!!! *Does a Happy Dance*
Best decision I think I made: Forming a Council when the clan turned 3. My only regret is not making one sooner.

Some days I wonder what it would be like again to just sit back and play and not have clan stuff to do or deal with. Then I realize that its the clan & the friendships I've formed that have kept me playing all these years. :)

Clan Owner - T E P
5+ Years

Many times I have had to give my key to someone for short periods of time so I can take care of my personal life as I am very busy with work...
I truly love my clan and my leaders! They are what I believe the best in game..
We have had our ups and downs as a clan but, we always pull it back and rise above.

The one thing I have learned from being a leader is... You can control who comes into your clan but you can't control who leaves it. I have watched many people with good intentions come and help and many with bad intentions.

I always remind my members and leaders it's not me that made T E P, because without all them members we wouldn't have a great strong community as we have.

It wasn't til last night when I got my ten year cape that I realized I had been playing this game for a very long time! I wonder why I keep coming back and I realized I love socializing with my clan members and leaders...

Happy Holidays
Everyone!
May 2015 be a better year for us!
Hidden Elements/Scouter

I'm just a player who loves the game and the people in a great clan!!!

Clan leader:
Blue Phoenix

One year and nine months

Comments:
I played alone for about two years. I had looked at clan vexes and talked to those in clans, but the ones I met just didn't fit my style of play. Then I ran across a vex for Blue Phoenix, talked to the then leader, and joined. That was in 2011. I've never left, worked up through the ranks and when he stepped down, was handed the key.

The things I have learned? Clans are a group of people, very much like groups in real life. Their enjoyment of the clan is expressed by staying or going, sometimes going with a few disruptions.

As people, let each person know when they do things well. Never be short of praise, even for little things sometimes. We have new players and low level accounts. Several have worked their way up to high ranking officers or even High Council members because they were noticed as a 'noob'.

There will be up and down times, good and bad. But look at it as a learning experience for real life. It is training in leadership.

Mostly, enjoy your clan and your friends. I've made a couple over the years I still stay in touch with. Always treat all your clan members with respect. Don't let them bring you down.

I can't imagine playing RuneScape now without being in a clan.

Lurking :p love everyone's comments so far. I wanted to quickly respond to this from my perspective ~

The hardest part of being a clan leader is to become good friends with people but having to see them go. So many old faces are now gone and I often wonder how they're doing.

This is one of the toughest aspects to being a clan owner for me as well. Among some others is promoting and, more specifically, demoting members (in the higher ranks, especially) while also trying to keep the peace with everyone. Always being the bearer of bad news and still coming out as a respected leader that people will stay for and listen to is sometimes tough to manage.

Edit: Just read through everyone's posts quickly and loving them. It's interesting to see the different things each leader goes through with their clan and the time they've spent in their clan. :)

Clan Co-Owner - Rift
2 Months :D
Comments ~ Our clan is a Social/Pvm/Community/Chill clan! Our clan's ranks are based on clan xp gained whilst in the clan. We have a very active clan and even though capping isn't mandatory we have Tier 7 and a red dragon! :)
