4) The beyond detection hint activates to the southeast of Port Khazard. I was hoping it would go a little further south to directly east of Hazelmere's hut as I was hoping to test it there, but I'll have to assume for now that it would be beyond detection there also. I have included a bit more of the video to show a water wall directly east of Port Khazard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ciKeh89dFQ

5) Below is a video that shows various clue regions northeast of Banana plantation on Musa Point and also near the docks there. The ghost activated a mixture of clues, including banana smugglers dwell, beyond detection and near Port Sarim. The video is rather long, but the most interesting parts are around:

02:15 to 02:40 = most of the beyond detection hints
03:30 to 04:30 = near Port Sarim hints

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c621n2HD7KM

6) Following on from my previous mention of beyond detection towards SW Entrana, I have been trying to test the southeastern most area. Didn't quite get it as far east as I hoped it would go to, but heres a short clip of the ghost towards the southeast of the southern boat at Entrana activating beyond detection.

Some more findings from the past few days.

1) A small patch of land to the northeast of Duel Arena activates the bloodsuckers clue, while directly east of the Duel Arena activates Al Kharid region hint. Not sure exactly how far east the border goes though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbfcEbgBLlg

2) The southeast of Entrana activates a beyond detection hint. It went down there just south of the docks.

But... guess who forgot to record it?!

...

O_o

3) The ghost activates beyond detection northeast of Oo'glog on water. The video below dosen't show it until towards the end.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cJxpTEDe-Y

4) After the "near Port Sarim" hint towards the east of Musa docks yesterday, I was contemplating the possibility of the mudskipper clue being activated southeast of those same docks. This doesn't seem possible though. Just near Port Sarim/deep in the jungle clues.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =D U_Nt9eJvUI

(need to replace the emoticon with an equals sign '=' after the 'v' followed by 'D')

5) The ghost activates beyond detection south of the docks near Taverley bank.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhHhCSfbRpQ

6) The ghost activates beyond detection north of Waterbirth Isle. Recorded two videos (two separate runs); the 2nd one shows it in more detail.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2NLt2KiKvk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2iz9EPiYK8

7) The ghost activates Fremenik clue west of the icy ridge north of the snowy hunter area. I am unsure how far north it extends to, but possibly up to the chinchompa area.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKK4B9NmpeI

8) A 2nd run at a beyond detection east of Pisc Fishing Colony. I sorta stuffed it up with my keys (kept trying too fast and was clicking '2' for ghost on the second panel that appears) so got a few clues for unrelated penguins. But managed to find an approximate border - the first beyond detection hint appears in the chat box.

WOW!

Managed to get a "... in the frozen wastes" clue for the ghost not too long ago! It activated just by the cave dungeon leading into the underground path up to Trollweiss/Ice Path gate entrance.

This indicates the frozen wastes clue is seemingly larger than has been originally perhaps been anticipated/able to be tested.

I don't know for sure whether the hint would be activated around Zemouregal's Fort or Mahjarrat Ritual Site/Ice Path areas. It would seem likely but I can't be 100% certain. The line just west of the cave entrance, which runs up quite a way north, seemingly indicates where the west/east border between Fremenik/Frozen Wastes is.

Now I am wondering how far south the border goes, or whether it may even be possible to activate an Imperial Guard train clue if it went a bit further south from where it was.

Here is the full run, for those who are interested:

Some speculation on a possible border for the southern end of the frozen wastes clue

I did a bit of running around, trying to see maybe where an indication could be (a distinctive line or similar) of where the south border is for the frozen wastes clue. I couldn't seem to find a line as such, but the music seems to change in the picture below:

The purple tile represents the Imperial Guard train clue and the blue tile represents the frozen wastes clue. Note that going anywhere north of the purple tile prevents me from using my sextant with the error message "Now is not the time nor the place to attempt to use a sextant." So that could also be another indication of a border. I get the same error message by the big rock south of GWD dungeon entrance also.

On that note, the border could be this:

17 degrees, 13 minutes north (in the frozen wastes)
17 degrees, 11 minutes north (where Imperial Guard train)

There seems to be no good reason for the Imperial Guard train clue to extend far north as it does already (a single tile northeast of Fremenik slayer dungeon activates it), as no regular penguin roam up from Death Plateau anyways.

So maybe that is a sign that it extends further north into the Troll Stronghold/Trollheim area based on the logic that Jagex hasn't paid too much attention to where the regular penguin can roam. With that said, there could also be another explanation (below):

On the provision that the Imperial Guard train clue area hasn't been changed since it was originally implemented, Mod Nancy may've felt the need to 'cover ground' by extending the Imperial Guard train hint further north than say a Death Plateau penguin spawn can roam to already. This could be because of an apparent Troll Stronghold spawn. Using quick chat, "I found a penguin at...", you get an option of 'Troll Stronghold' to select from. But that penguin spawn, if it exists, has never seemed to enter the game thus far.

Therefore, I am thinking possibly something like this:

The only problem is is that it'll be difficult to get a ghost to go into the small area where the Imperial Guard train clue is possibly at, let alone the ghost even going over the mountain itself. If it could go down the path then that should also work, but the opening isn't very wide and it could very well go back north.

On the assumption that the frozen wastes clue also covers the God Wars Dungeon entrance area, I also note that the row immediately north of the big boulder is 17 degrees, 13 mins north, which would be the most southern point it could go, which could be why the border is where it is (according to the music changes and sextant error).

That would mean the clue has been extended further south down there to allocate for the possibility of a GWD penguin ever entering the game (assuming it would be outside). The quick chat does allow for "God Wars Dungeon", but it does not specify whether that would be inside the dungeon or outside.

Does anyone know approximately when the quick chat for "I found a penguin at...." was added, particuarly the Troll Stronghold and God Wars Dungeon options? Were they always there from the very start? I'm assuming the quick chat option was added from the beginning of time (release of penguins), but I don't know if those options were added at a later date afterwards.

I went back in the thread, the earliest record I could find of someone mentioning the frozen wastes clue was by Airy Zona on 4th Feb 2011.

This would seem to be the earliest knowledge of the clue based on a few posts that followed afterwards. If it was known when the quick chat options were there then maybe that would help support (or not) this theory, and also possibly suggest when the frozen wastes clue entered the game. I see Aveo did post at the same time that the GWD penguin was there as an option on the quick chat, but I'm not sure whether he knew about it that day or if it was found out earlier before the 4th Feb. It'd be nice to know for Troll Stronghold too.

While it may seem strange for the frozen wastes clue to extend as far west as it seems to if it was only intended to cover the GWD area outside, possibly the explanation for this is that Nancy/Jagex was preparing for the Troll Stronghold penguin to be able to roam up to the Ice Path gate entrance, so they wanted to cover that area too and didn't feel as though extending the Imperial Guard train clue to cover that far north would be appropriate because the penguin would be entering the frozen environment.

With all that said, there's also a chance it could just be a beyond detection hint and the northern border for Imperial Guard train ends somewhere further south.

Note that all this is pure speculation and could be utter nonsense.

Some more findings from over the past few weeks, supported by some video content as usual.

1) Approximate north/south border between "on an island, etc" and "somewhere beyond detection"

Found a ghost near the Etceteria docks. It appears as though the beyond detection hint starts activating somewhere around 6-8 steps south of the southernmost point on the docks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRYLrBDTPEA

2) Frozen wastes clue run #2

Caught another ghost heading into the frozen wastes hint area. Along the way, it teased going into the speculated border between Imperial Guard train and frozen wastes. If only it had taken a few steps more southeast. What a disappointment.

I tried to obtain the hint for the frozen wastes clue by trying to time it just as it was coming over into the frozen wastes hint region in an attempt to confirm the west/east border there. My camera angle is not quite as optimal as I would've liked at that point, but you can still see it and also the marker indicating its position on the minimap as the clue was taken.

With that, I'm now even more confident the west/east border between Fremenik/Frozen Wastes is where that long line is running down just west of the cave entrance to Trollweiss, which should be the same west/east border between Fremenik/Imperial Guard train. Like this:

11 degrees, 43 minutes east (Fremenik and barbarians)
11 degrees, 45 minutes east (Frozen wastes)

The video isn't too much different from the last video - frozen wastes activates a little more south than it did in the first one, but still in the same general area before it dashes back west. Have included the full video (starting at snowy hunter area), but the main highlights are at:

Ghost teasing the speculated border: 4:50
Beginning of frozen wastes clue: 5:15

3) Castle of arthur hint on the big boat at Catherby docks

The ghost activated a "near the Castle of Arthur" hint on the big ship at Catherby docks, which felt odd. I was expecting the mountain of wolves clue to activate there

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lcszyWTW5g

4) Testing for city of plagues clue from Kharidian desert side

I tested the southernmost point a desert cactus penguin could go to just to the north of Sophanem to see whether a city of plagues clue could be activated, but it does not seem possible. The southern most point it can be taken to is 10 degrees, 46 minutes south, which activates a south Kharidian desert clue on that row.

5) Beyond detection covering middle Trollweiss, including another frozen wastes hint possibly around the Ice Path/Zemougral's Fort area

A beyond detection clue covers probably the entire middle half of Trollweiss Mountain, if not then most of it. That means it could be rather difficult to get it to places like Zemougral's Fort to do any testing. Though, it did activate a frozen wastes hint somewhere along the way before seemingly heading back into middle Trollweiss, so its not impossible.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evJ5UeDBY6g

The north/south border between the Fremenik/beyond detection clue on lower Trollweiss and middle Trollweiss seems likely to be:

19 degrees, 13 minutes north (beyond detection)
19 degrees, 11 minutes south (Fremenik)

Reflecting back on this now, the previous video I captured with the title "beyond detection maybe near Ice Path", was more likely the ghost heading from southern to middle Trollweiss.

6) Dragontooth Isle 2-pt spawn runs (incl some beyond detection hints)

Lastly, today at reset, the ghost spawned at the Dragontooth Isle spawn. I followed a couple I could find and discovered an approximate western borde - starting from somewhere around 7-10 steps west of the island on the water.

The beyond detection hint also activates to the northeast of the island. One of the ghosts didn't quite go far south as I wanted it to in the 3rd run where I was hoping to glean an approximate southern border but nevermind.

A few more exciting hint journeys from over the past couple of days, supported by some photo/video evidence.

1) The "mountain of wolves" clue seems to activate in the middle of the big boat at Catherby docks, but with a Castle of Arthur hint kinda wrapped around it (based on evidence in this video and another previous video of it in the same area). Am having a hard time unravelling this one - its really quite odd. The image below is currently my interpretation of it but I could very well be wrong. Note that the Entrana clue activates along the water wall there too

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpSyyUgRz1s

2) I know I have mentioned somewhere in this thread earlier that the deep in the jungle clue activated in the middle of the Kharazi Jungle, though this was before the rework. I just want to confirm that it is still activating in the middle since the rework too. Don't know for sure what activates south of there though, particularly on the water (this sort of leads into one of my next points further below)

N.B. the clue activated on the tile it is on as shown in the picture.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVS3TftuvXc

3) Caught a ghost heading south of the Taverley docks. It activated beyond detection as expected, but also noteworthy is that it also activated an Entrana clue just south of the docks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r39U0K4Y6X4

4) I had an interesting series of hints while I was hunting down the ghost. Received a beyond detection hint, followed shortly afterwards by a deep in the jungle hint, then a Feldip Hills hint not too long after. Timestamps were:

[05:11:23] Penguin 11 located somewhere beyond detection.
[05:11:47] Penguin 11 located deep in the jungle.
[05:12:28] Penguin 11 located around Feldip Hills, near Gu'Tanoth.
