Thanks to both, will add. I'm not sure the Security Guard should be updated, though, being a historical souvenir of random events (same with e.g. pillory guard). I'm not sure the king's message is interesting enough to be stored in the bookcase but hey, who cares, I myself collect that stuff anyway, so will add. :) Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Thanks for the response! Fishing bait might not be a good idea due to the existence of the tackle box, but the idea an sich seems fine.

As for protean resources, that's probably a good idea - any suggestions as to how to obtain them? I'd think protean box traps as expensive rewards from Big Chinchompa, for instance, stuff like that.

The essence thing, I must admit, sounds very OP. It'd definitely have to have a daily limit, and dependence on runecrafting level sounds like a good precaution. Instead of the wicked hood, however, perhaps talisman staves would be a better option, since they're a bit lacking in usefulness. :) Thoughts?

Putting the consumables in the pocket slot was merely to free up an inventory space, kind of how pulse cores do. I had forgotten the Tackle Box does the job for fishing.

Protean resources could be rare or semi rare drops from doing the natural action:
- Cutting logs could turn a log into a number of protean logs dependant on the tier.
- Smelting ore could produce protean bars
- When handing in memories to a divination crater, there is a chance you will receive protean memories back.
- Protean hides could be obtained while tanning hides, with one hide transforming into a number of protean.
- Protean traps could be either an expensive reward from a minigame (Big Chin you suggested), but could also be a byproduct of training, with the tool used turning into a number of traps.
- Protean cogs could be a byproduct of manufacturing items at a workbench.
- Protean planks could be made during sawmill runs, with a plank transforming during the sawing process.

In addition, they could all be a reward from handing in a Daily Challenge of that skill.

Regarding essence, perhaps the wicked hood would be too broken, instead, give tiaras and talisman staffs a new use, obviously still with the skill ceiling and bank restriction.
I prefer my murder-hood; people die 'cos I look so good!

Hm... I am not sure about the idea that regular training should yield such powerful items as protean stuff. You'd train and then get 'resources' for some more training, but that discourages participating in other content that link to that skill in whatsoever way, which I don't really think is good. I'd much rather encourage more varied gameplay in order to stimulate different ways of training, and boost some more exotic content's popularity. I'd rather have some more discussion on this though, so if anyone has an opinion, please pitch in. Also, today I learnt more protean stuff than bars, traps and hides exist... :P Personally, I'd suggest something along the line of the following:

Logs: Vinesweeper reward, uncommonly found during Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup
Bars: Blast Furnace
Memories: Guthixian Caches
Hides: Since there is no Crafting-related activity, for now just a byproduct of tanning
Traps: Big Chinchompa or Herblore Habitat or something
Cogs: What are these for, Invention? Hmm...how 'bout making them yourself using elemental components?
Planks: No idea, sawmill training?

Daily challenges could also be a good idea, though one'd have to limit the amounts for obvious reasons.

@Draco: Really? Where? :o Last I heard, Mod Srowley said it's not on the planners but could certainly be done.

The idea is to grant the protean items to people who don't like minigames, but it is a good idea nonetheless. Protean logs can be made into protean planks at the sawmill. I still think Dailies are the best way to do it.

Since minigames are suffering as is, any opportunity for new rewards should be taken IMO. Players that really don't want to play minigames can then keep training as normal, but won't enjoy the benefit of xp boosting outfits, sacred clay bonus xp, Fist of Guthix gloves, and indeed protean items, in that scenario, just to name a few.

Protean planks coming from protean logs' conversion at the Sawmill is an excellent idea, ensuring Construction remains expensive to train. :)

The log -> plank conversion was there before they allowed you to change the proteans at a 3:2 ratio to anything else.

As for the minigames, what about Ironmen? What would be the best method for Ironmen to get access to proteans?
