Is it really true that the guy that posted the video on Youtube a year ago:

I got Runescape's FIRST t95 Weapon, the Staff of Armadyl


And claimed in the video he had 5.5 Billion coins cant afford death costs?

Amazing...

Who can afford Death Costs then? I guess we should all quit now - IF that is really true.

Who can afford Death Costs then? I guess we should all quit now - IF that is really true.

Do you know 5.5 billion coins couldn't even buy a FSOA at the time, and it was like 20 mil gp per death with their setup before GE Tax. Supplies and consumables ran up to 10 mil gp/hr when EOF alone costed 2.5 mil gp/hr... and I am not even mentioning when IM has to get all those consumable, repairment patches and whatnots themselves cost of time was far far more.

5.5 Billion was what he had before he went on the run in coin. That's not total account value like we see spammed at the GE - just his coin. I believe it is claimed later in the video that they got 3.3 Billion (of course that was split) before the staff was sold.

As for time consumption of Ironman toons, why is it called Ironman? Its called Ironman because the player wanted a challenge, right? They wanted to do the things everyone does without the benefit of Player trades and the GE, right?

I have been told by some that they did it to learn more about the game.

Its what they signed up for when they made the toon, and as another Ironman pointed out, most of them arent likely to risk losing that toon - that investment of time - by putting the toon in harms way any more than they have to.

Does anyone know an Ironman that does not have a regular main?

Seems like you really don't know 5.5 bil gp is not hard to get at all for all veteran players, skillers or pvmers. I already told you the cost of pvming is huge in RS3. It is not just you buy a BiS weapon and set of armor then that's it. There are a lot of cost on EOF, aura, repair, supplies like vulnerabilty bombs, expensive ammos like Bik's arrows and such.

That's why RS3 combat is fun. It is not just click your target and that's it.

Likewise, the obejective of IM in RS3 is not no trading and such. A lot of RS3 IM actually asked for fun stuff and that's why Jagex let them buy aura and some cosmetics even they can't get things from the GE.

A lot of RS3 players pvm for fun, not specifically for loot.

I am happy to see that we agree that money for repairs and death costs is not hard to get.

With good skill levels we can make vulnerability bombs, and Bik Arrows.

Its all just for fun, thats why its called a game. :)


It cost me 117K to repair in my POH from my slayer task in GWD. As I said, I disassembled the vast majority of the drops, but I did collect coin and 600 soul runes which not only covered my repair costs but left some extra coin in my pocket as well.

It really is not hard.

I am happy to see that we agree although it is not hard to get gp over a long term, the cost of death before the reduction was still very stiff for even most of the hardcore pvmers. That's why we need Death Cost Reduction and therefore GE Tax to balance it out.

agreed, remove it now before it grows into an insidious beast that devours us all. the drumbeat for increased taxes has already begun. 2% leads to 4% which leads to 6% which inevitably leads to additional taxation because it's easy to take money from those who have earned it.
