I remember when they were talking about a full overhaul of PoH's with custom placed furniture & updated graphics, but that was years ago. From what I've read recently, it sounds like construction is really a nest of thorns that Jagex don't want to put their hands into.

It sounds like it's still running on old code, and really needs a complete rebuild, to top this off, there's the whole issue of stored items in houses, such as pets/armour/clothes/fish etc. The best thing might be just to change textures/models but it doesn't sound like there's an easy way to change construction for the better

graphical updates (POH is a little buggy at times)
increased amount of rooms would be nice.
Better use of some of the lesser used rooms ( combat rooms and such are pretty dead content ).
New butlers maybe? ( since last one is only like level 60 )
More vanity items, i personally like the tank, and monster heads, and that 2017 runefest thing was cool too...

Just give us a reason to want to use our houses other than construction and prayer...

just my opinions

Yeah, I've noticed that construction has needed a reboot for a very long time. Do support a complete overhaul, but that's up to the devs to decide.

There's a Construction Rework already down on Jagex' plans, but it won't even be started until the Mining and Smithing Rework is finished and out, assuming Mod Jack and his team go straight from one rework to the other with nothing in between.

In other words, it's planned, but it's so far away that it's barely worth talking about let alone holding your breath for. In the meantime there are already quite a few features implemented in OSRS which could be ported over to improve things and tide us over.

Jageeeeexxxxx pleeeeeeaaaasseeeeeee what are you doing? It's been so long since you've updated construction. Old school has given it amazing updates such as the superior garden, Achievement gallery, way more portal options, layout mode, can build rune dragons, have combat dummy in combat room, have 8x8 dimensions instead of 7, also have 10x10 for yard space and more...

If osrs could implement these things why can't you guys do this in main game???

Wow I normally do not venture into this forum section, and seeing a thread about construction updates that dates back all the way to 2011 amazes me.
This was just after the release of Citadels and I remember making a thread at the same time comparing the graphics of the citadel to the outdated ones of POH's. But after getting about 30 pages of support, it died and was eaten by the page 51 monster. So seeing a construction update thread survive from the same period is impressive!

I just finished 120 construction, which is a bit of a tribute to how I used to love this skill in the early days: it is unique and gives the player a lot of freedom to create what they want. Over the years it has sadly become very outdated, with even the citadel (from 2011) having better graphics. We have seen a few new rooms (the costume room, the menagerie and the aquarium), but the rest of the POH's have simply been forgotten.

Which indeed has created the issue of spaghetti code: nobody knows how the POH code works and dares to make changes to it. It is so outdated that a complete rework of POH's would be easier. But then they need to ensure people their belongings (furniture, items in the costume room, pets) can in some way be carried over safely.

This would be a huge project and over the years I have lost hope seeing it happen, but seeing how mining and smithing is a similarly sized project, it is still possible.

If they do however, Jagex will pretty much hit a treasure trove of possibilities: hotspots that show achievements (think questing items such as a Stone of Jas replica or bossing statues etc.), hotspots that may tie in with skilling and utility (such as daily usable skilling trees/rocks and spirit trees/fairy rings), even greater gp sinks and customization options that can continuously be added upon (even through means such as the Solomon Store, which I personally dislike..).

In short, it is a huge task but can give great rewards.
