In this situation? Yes, I believe he would accept the challenge. In fact, I would be surprised if he did not.
” the Captain told them, stepping into the discussion as if there had been no argument. “
However, if you are considering this, then you need to be aware of a few things. Although he is not someone I am willing to trust at any point in the foreseeable future, he is not without a code that he follows. Therefore, you need to know that, if you set conditions for this duel, he will follow them unless you do not, but he will be fully prepared for you to break them. Should he mention something in the rules that makes your sneak attack break them, you would be well-advised not to carry it out, but if he says nothing it likely means he is expecting it and will be prepared. If you win, he will comply with your demands, but be aware that if you lose he will fully expect the same from you, and if he accepts something then it means it will pose no risk to him to lose it.

Basically, he’ll twist everything in his favor, even if it does not seem like it at first.
” Talia interjected. “
Even so, this isn’t a bad idea. You just have to be extremely careful in how you approach it.

Also, I am aware of your House and its military prowess, but Harbinger is by no means a weak man.
“ the Captain told Bridgett. “
I cannot say I am familiar with how far your strength extends, but I caution you not to underestimate your opponent here.

"
I'd advise picking one of your plans at this point, unless someone has an entirely new one to discuss.
" Talia told them. "
While there's still a bit of time left that we can feel safe in keeping open for this, it'll be gone before you know it, and you'll need time to prepare for whatever it is you're actually going to do.

Ben and Ridley

Ben was saddened by Chloe’s unfortunate circumstances. He did assume Annie’s dismissiveness of mass murder was unintentional, she probably did not mean to be callous. Annie was, after all, a kid, and kid’s can’t always understand grown-ups. Ridley did not seem to care about anything, and appeared to be thinking to himself.

“A lot of people died, I’m sorry for all of them. I can only imagine how many lifelong tragedies will linger with the survivors.” Ben remarked, then looked at Chloe if able, “You’re doin’ good, miss, most people would break down right about now.” he continued softer than usual. “But we ain’t gonna let their sacrifice be for nothin’. If this Harbinger fella can accept a duel, even if he's dirty, all I can do is challenge him to a boxing match; bare knuckled, no gloves or wrappings.” he proposed.

Ridley tittered.

“Like yoo can hit for shit.” Ridley scoffed. “Dis Harbitcher fella be a soldier, not some street punk like ya. If dere’s a dool, I’d be the one kickin’ his ass, you’d be too slow ‘gainst a soldier. He’d know how ta counter your bulky, slow-thinkin’ self.”

Without adding to the bickering, Ben then looked at the redhead Ms. Melisande, “Or, perhaps spear lady here could face him in a medieval style duel? Though I say her shortness would put her at quite a disadvantage.”

Annie realize her mistake when she rolled her eyes at Chloe what Ben just. She felt horrible what she did before. She said,” I am sorry Chloe what I did before. I thought you where talking about the people who attacked us. I didn’t realize. I am sorry for your loss. Please forgive me. I want to get avenge on the people who did this to us.” She was still in shock of what just happened. -Dances-

Travis's plan was rebuked, for good reason, but with the way things were going they'd run out of time before deciding on what to do. He returned to his patient listening as everyone threw in their input, one by one, surprisingly a plan actually starting to come together after a suggestion from Bridgett gained headway. There was also Annie's suggestion of there being a spy on board, throwing her childish suspicions on Chloe, although very sharply changing her tune to apologize when the woman's reaction was one of distress.

Still, that situation was not for him to take part in. Surprisingly enough it was Ben that delivered comforting remarks, albeit the unheard whispers of the princess were what served to bring the delivery girl back to them.

Back to the matter at hand - a duel was the suggestion they were working with now. Bridgett put herself forwards to face this 'Harbinger' in a one on one fight, with the stakes being the airship. Gareth, surprisngly, was swayed by her words after initially being against the idea... And even the captain added that it might actually work! However, this plan was effectively placed on the shoulders of a single person who would likely be in for the fight of their life. Beyond that, the captain's warning regarding rules for the fight would hinder the actions of the others if such conditions were put forward by the enemy.

All in all? Travis found himself agreeing with the plan.

" I can get on board with a duel, " He voiced his agreement, nodding his head slowly. " That said, I'm gonna put my name forwards to take this duel too. Ain't no offense ta' you, Bridgett, you ain't bad at all, but I think I've got a few years experience over you when it comes down to a fight. "

It was worth considering an alternative fighter. Depending on what weapon Harbinger took fancy to, Travis's blades could be a better counter than Bridgett's spear.

Bridgett

At Gareth’s affirmation of her plan, Bridgett felt a giddy rush for the briefest of moments. Perhaps it was an immature and dangerous thought, her logical centres deducing that perhaps she had placed too much stock in Gareth’s advice outside of their small fish pond. Regardless, affirming Gareth’s opinion definitely caused her confidence to surge.

The other men appeared receptive to Bridgett’s plan, though they didn’t appear sold on the idea of Bridgett taking point. Bridgett’s ‘obvious weaknesses’ aside, she wasn’t about to get pushed out of the way. No, it was because of her perceived ‘weakness’ that she couldn’t get pushed out of the way; much like her mother and countless generations before her, Bridgett had trained tirelessly for moments like this since childhood. She let every ounce of this experience show as she deflected the doubts with a disinterested smile, almost like they were discussing the sports or weather.

I don’t plan to stub my toe anytime soon. ” Bridgett joked, aiming her next comment squarely at Travis. “ We have to remain objective here. Our goal is the ship, and not the Captain’s life. As Gareth rightly pointed out, Harbinger may not follow through with the terms of the duel or attempt to trick us; should this be the case, we will need your guild recon experience leading the surprise attack.

Bridgett paused, her eyes steely. “ But only if they don’t follow their terms of the deal. ” She finished firmly. " The men we saw before were military; they will follow the commands of their superior officer, without a doubt. "

Crash Site - Ship Interior: Bridge

"
Stop. I’m fine. I’m fine .
” Chloe said quietly, her words omni-directional. They seemed more focused at herself than anyone else, though, for she was the one who was likely least convinced by them.

Once the plan had seemed to become the one that was going to happen, the Captain had given Talia a nod, and she had gotten up before opening the maintenance panel between the navigation and communications stations. Rummaging inside it momentarily, she pulled out one of the helmets and began disconnecting several cables from it. As she did, the display giving the enemy location began to fade, eventually ending up as little more than a not very clear overhead map. If anyone had been consistently watching the locations, they had not changed throughout the discussion.

Now, if I just do this…
” she muttered, reaching into the inside of the helmet and pulling open a small panel before fiddling around with whatever was inside it for a moment. Whatever she did didn’t seem to produce an immediate result, judging by her frown and the extended period of time she used to tinker around with the helmet. Every few moments she would hold it up like she was looking out the front of it, and after the fifth attempt she finally stopped frowning and nodded to herself, snapping the panel shut.

Here.
” she said, tossing it to Bridgett. “
Put that on, and whatever you say will be transferred to anyone else wearing a linked communication matrix. Better decide who’s dueling fast, too. I’d give my vote to Travis if you’re not expecting to have to act independently of the duel. If you are thinking you’ll need to, then Bridgett gets my go-ahead. Or, if you’re feeling bold, challenge him to both of you fighting him at once. Regardless, it was your idea, so the talking is all yours if you want it.

Everyone, please be quiet when she puts on the helmet. I want there to be as little information sent as possible.
” the Captain told everyone. Ever since Talia had withdrawn the helmet, he seemed more on edge than he had at the start, and his eyes were scanning the room as though he was expecting someone to appear or something to happen.

Ben and Ridley

Ben nodded.

A conclusion was made. Talia adjusted the helmet and passed it to Bridgett, allowing her to communicate with the enemy.

Ben waited, and listened. If it was up to Travis to face Harbinger, so be it.

Ridley did not seem to care about anything, but did appear to be actively thinking about something.

Now, all they had to do was wait, and see how Harbinger would reply.

Annie listened what was said. She asked in a calm voice,” What do you want me to do? I really want to help.” She doesn’t want to stay behind doing nothing. -Dances-

Bridgett

The helmet fell into Bridgett’s waiting arms. Without waiting for opposition, she raised the helmet to her head. “ Well, no time like the present.

Perhaps it was just her imagination, but as she donned the helmet gingerly, she could smell the nauseatingly familiar scents of sweat and blood entwined. It wasn’t a scent she wanted to get used to, but she had an image to maintain and ideals to uphold. This was on her; someone else might get this wrong.

Giving her cheeks a light slap, she sighed. They had gone too far to back down now.

I would to speak to Captain Harbinger. ” Bridgett proclaimed confidently into the microphone. Would anyone respond?
