Passive-aggressive? Is that even possible? I am very outdated, so any modern or new terminology isn't something I'm knowledgeable on. Humorously, my younger brother knew more about sex than I did even a decade ago, ha.
Currently, I don't know what to do with my characters. Rory is a criminal; he has no impact on the world around him. I don't know how or why a criminally-minded fellow observing some magical features would really care much about it in regards to political ownership of, presumably, a magical being. The topics of Tias ownership is a backstory I don't know about, but if it was hinted in the intro, I missed it. Like Rory and Elizabeth, I am mostly ignorant of the world and its lore. Elizabeth, after all, grew up rather isolated, and Rory is basically a sociopathic criminal, both of which forces limitations for these characters in relation to lore.
I think that there is a decent point to make, in that the soldiers may not have been 'bad guys'. Considering Miyasi, Storm, and the suddenly-appearing portal, all of this suggests a negative connotation. However, since Miyasi obeys the half-masked girl (I don't recall her name), that alone hints that maybe this scenario isn't threatening. There seems to be a relation with the tavern, but I shouldn't jump to conclusions.
A majority of the content centers around your characters and developing lore, making it difficult for me to incorporate my own characters and their backstories into the RP. Are they meant to be like NPCs and tag along? They clearly can't do much unless get killed by the psychokinetic swords, which forces them to stay back. They have no impact on politics or lore, they are non-magical, and they (like me) are ignorant of most of the world, so I'm not able to produce any purpose for them here.
Rather than add extra dialogue or opinions, I think it's best to allow the setting to focus on what's more important, which aren't my characters.
