So, I've again lost access to a computer, *sighs* just hang tight fellas, the other computer is in the shop, but the guy said he isn't quite sure what the problem is. I'm not sure when I'll get around to regular updating again. >_>

Early the following day…

Ko waited patiently outside of Ana’s bedroom as she hastily dressed herself. A few minutes passed before she emerged, dressed in her dragonhide, armed with a bow and quiver of arrows. “Sorry for wait.” She said rubbing her head. He did*’t respond, but removed a bottle from his small backpack.

“Do you drink wine? My employer sent me home with a bottle.* She took the bottle and grabbed a cup for it. She poured just a little and took a light sip and swooshed it around in her mouth.

“Is good wine, your employer has fine taste.” She corked the wine and stored it, and the two headed out for the day. As they entered the street leading to Pikkupstix’s house, she decided to ask Ko a few questions. “So the job interview went well?” he looked a little surprised and uncertain about the question.

“Well, yes. It’s a job I think I’ll enjoy.” He seemed to think about every word before saying it.

“What kind, anyway?”

“My main purpose will be to make sure operations with the business I’m working with go smoothly, something of a mix between a security guard and a manager.” Anastasia noticed he was trying to hide something with his vagueness, but decided not to harass him over it. After all the job might not be one he’s proud of; like making sure drug manufacturing operations run well.

They stopped before Pikkupstix’s place of work. “So you wait here, yes?” Ko peeked over his shoulder, and noticed two men starring at him, they both pulled white hoods over their heads once he made eye contact. They had been following him all morning, and most of last night.

“Yes, no need to complicate things.” She entered and began speaking with him. Ko looked around, and concluded there wasn’t many people out this early, he hastily walked behind the building, and pulled a pair of gloves, and facemask from his backpack and swiftly equipped them, and then removed his knife from its sheath. He pressed himself against the edge of the building, and was assisted in hiding by shadows. The two hooded men walked around the corner without noticing him. “I guess he gave us the slip.” One said to the other.

Ko quickly reached around and cut the man’s throat, the other looked shocked and reached for his own weapon, but Ko simply stuck the knife into his neck before he was able to fight back. He cut the sleeve off of one and saw a Saradominist tattoo; exactly what he had anticipated. He looted both of the men’s weapons from their bodies, and then dragged them into the shadows. Afterwards he poured a trashcan on top of them to help hide them. After that he removed the bloodied gloves and mask.

He used a weak fire spell to burn them to ashes, and turned his shirt inside out to help hide the blood stain, but to his dismay… it did*’t work. He removed a jacket from his pack and put it on over the bloodied shirt. Even though it wasn’t cold, he had no choice. He made sure his heart beat was normal, and that he wasn’t sweating before walking back around front.

“There you are, where did you go?” Anastasia questioned.

“I got bored, had a look around.” He shrugged.

“The old man can talk a lot, sorry.” She sighed.

“It’s perfectly fine, what’s your task?”

“More Mountain Wolf and it look like you must’ve heard?”

“Uh, no why would I?” She giggled.

“You are wearing a jacket, yes? Mountains aren’t warm comrade.” He nervously laughed and began walking towards the towering icy rock formations that were only a few minute walk from the town. The problems began once you actually started to travel through them, with packs of hungry wolves, unstable ground, and aggressively low temperatures; it was a very draining trek. The two traveled for about two hours before reaching a high enough altitude to find where the wolves liked to rest and drag their kills.

The walk became steadily more painful, as the numbing coldness gnawed at them. Soon however, they spotted a few wolves and engaged them.

They dispatched two easily, working to remove a few bones from each before the bodies froze and became too stiff and hard to dissect. They continued this and soon found themselves to get warmer as they exerted themselves.

Ko was hunched over the corpse of a wolf and using his knife to dig out bits of ribcage, when a sudden gust of wind shoved him forward, and over a drop that was hidden by the mist and snow. “Anastasia!” he hollered out, his hands sliding through the snow. He took the risky move of raising his right arm over his head, and stabbing his knife into the snow with it. Anastasia was forced to kill a wolf to get to him, and pulled him up over the edge.

“You owe me one!” she said, giving him a crooked smile, followed by a stern slap on the back. Ko’s eyes suddenly swelled, and he lurched forward with his knife, stabbing into a wolf leaping through the air at her back.

“Well I think we are even now.* She seemed speechless for a minute, but simply started laughing.

“What’re the odds?” they sat down, Anastasia started a fire with her necklace which soon began to cook wolf meat for lunch. This looked like the start of a beautiful friendship.

Three months later.

The moon shone brightly as Pikkupstix was beginning to have his evening cup of tea. It was already relatively late, and he had assumed Anastasia, being rather unpredictable, had gotten distracted somehow from her task. He kicked his feet up on a stool and creaked open a novel he had been trying to finish reading for the past few days. He soon found it was too dark to read with only one candle, and lit another. He got comfortable and soon forgot he was supposed to be waiting on his student to return. A slight tap suddenly got his attention, he peaked up from the pages... the noise sounded like it came from upstairs. He figured he might need to stop reading horror novels, they were starting to get to him.

He lit one more candle and placed his staff within arms reach, and began reading again, when he was sure he heard another small tap. Arming himself with the wooden walking stick and a candle, he began working towards the ladder leading up to his upstairs bedroom and office combination, when out of no where the door flung open, and a gust of wind extinguished all the candles.

“Who are you!?” He demanded and pointed the staff at the shadowed figure.

“Are you drunk?” Anastasia asked making her way into the shop.

“...I was reading a, uhh... a scary book.” He embarrassingly admitted. She dropped a dragon’s head on the floor.

“You want king dragon head? I got it. Now old man, I expect good reward for my labor.” She sounded frustrated, and as he re-lit the candles, he could see why. Her clothes had taken a beating, her face was covered in soot, and she had scrapes and bruises all over herself.

“I suppose you have been doing very well... wait right here, i’ll fetch the the combinations I had for you.” he began to climb the ladder, and remembered the noises “Actually... why not come up with me?” She gave a momentary look of confusion before shrugging and climbing the a head of him on the ladder. He made his way up and lit the entire room before making his way into the tiny office zone of his building. He reached under a sturdy oak desk and removed a folder which contained information about Anastasia; he had one for all his students. He removed the combination and handed it to her.

“Fishing bowl and blue charm... what does that create?” She asked with an arched eyebrow.

“A... Karamthulhu Overlord, they’re err, well i’ve heard mixed reviews from my students. Some said the Overlord was a very capable fighter, others had trouble making it listen to their orders. Why not give it a try, and then if things don’t work out i’ll give you a new combination.”

“Alright, fair enough. But only if you supply the pouch for it”

“I don’t have one, or I don’t think I do, I suppose I could look.” He strolled over to a filing cabinet that was filled with pouches rather than actual files. He was a little confused, he was certain he did*’t, he had the ingredients for a Minotaur planned for her, not a squid in a bowl.

“Any luck?” She impatiently inquired, crossing her arms.

“Uhh.. yes actually... here you are.” He shuffled over to her and offered the pouch to her. That was weird, he did not have a Karamthulhu pouch last time he looked for one. Boy she looked angry, with a scowl on her face. She snatched it from him and left without another word. He locked his door and made his way back upstairs to his bed, but as he began to read, he witnessed a man atop a roof next to his building starring at him through the window, but then leapt out of sight. Pikkupstix did not sleep well that night.
