The group charged on, as the simple yet pleasant tune became more audible. Lowe called out to his friends “Where is that coming from?” he took a deep breathe, it was hard to run and talk, his heart felt like it was burning, and his stomach rumbled, he was sure his friends felt the same.
“Up ahead?” Forrest suggested, Aiden and Caden were still finding it difficult to keep up, and both envied Forrest and his strong running legs. Aiden began to speak inbetween his pants.
“After… we get back… to Varrock… we’re going to start… running daily.” Caden nodded, he had trouble breathing and dared not to waste his breath with a “Yeah”.
“Hello!” A cheerful old man called out, the group noticed him, just up the road, near the bridge. As they approached, the friendly man began to speak “Why not sit down, relax and rest those weary limbs?” he continued strumming skillfully on his small guitar. He had one foot on a log, his hatchet laid not far from it. He had a burlap sack filled with assorted items, lantern, tinderbox, spare clothes, and so on.
“Yes, we should rest here.” Anastasia agreed “Is nothing better than rest with good song.” The old man smiled, he was missing a few teeth.
“She’s right!” he exclaimed.
“Fine with me.” Azura said, sitting down and opening her backpack, and pulling assorted food items from it. Aiden and Caden’s eyes lit up.
“Yeah, lunch would be nice.” Caden said, sitting down next to Forrest.
“Hell yeah.” Aiden sat next to his brother and the two began extracting large chunks of precooked meat and bread from their sacks. Lowe figured there was no arguing with them, and besides that, the Fremennik Province was close by, they were making good time, very good time. Lowe knew it was possible to walk from Camelot to Rellekka in a few hours, but with his companions he thought the slowness of Aiden and Caden, and laziness of Azura, would have crippled their travel time. But that wasn’t the case, he guessed he had too little fate in those three.
