“See, now we have to walk down this scary and dirty road, when we could have rested, and hitched a ride in a cart later.” Azura complained.

“Darlin’, it ain’t been half an hour, an yer already complainin? Forrest spoke up, sure Azura was easy on the eyes, but she was a pain to the ears.

“Heeey, he talks.” Caden said with a chuckle “But ya, girl.. no one wants to hear ya whine, specially not me.” Azura rolled her eyes. The group continued on, the road turned into dirt at times, and back into cobblestone further down. It was no hard task to realize the roads were very poorly kept, it was no wonder very few visitors came to the Fremmnik region. The large man Aiden tripped over a root which had pushed its way through the cobblestone.

“God freaking..” the rest of his words were inaudible as he pushed himself back to his feet. His brother’s deep laughter was all he needed to throw a punch at him. Caden punched him back, and in seconds the two large brothers were beating one another. It only took a few minutes for them to stop hitting each other, and going back to making jokes about Forrest.

“Hey Forrest, I bet you arranged for that root to grow there.” Caden shouted out.

The day continued, uneventful other than a few bad puns. “Anyone else starving to death?” Caden asked. A series of nods would be his response.

“Let’s keep going, at least until the sun’s high.” Lowe urged the group “Come on, let’s see how much ground we can cover before noon.* He began to run, the rest of the group followed close behind. Aiden and Caden were feeling fatigue much sooner than their peers. Forrest on the other hand, was finding the run to be near effortless. His career and style of combat did*’t call for heavy plate, or large weapons, only a few knives and his hatchet made from the material known by mortals as “Dragon”.

As the group continued to run forward at a steady pace, a very odd noise began to fill the air, music.

The group charged on, as the simple yet pleasant tune became more audible. Lowe called out to his friends “Where is that coming from?” he took a deep breathe, it was hard to run and talk, his heart felt like it was burning, and his stomach rumbled, he was sure his friends felt the same.

“Up ahead?” Forrest suggested, Aiden and Caden were still finding it difficult to keep up, and both envied Forrest and his strong running legs. Aiden began to speak inbetween his pants.

“After… we get back… to Varrock… we’re going to start… running daily.” Caden nodded, he had trouble breathing and dared not to waste his breath with a “Yeah”.

“Hello!” A cheerful old man called out, the group noticed him, just up the road, near the bridge. As they approached, the friendly man began to speak “Why not sit down, relax and rest those weary limbs?” he continued strumming skillfully on his small guitar. He had one foot on a log, his hatchet laid not far from it. He had a burlap sack filled with assorted items, lantern, tinderbox, spare clothes, and so on.

“Yes, we should rest here.” Anastasia agreed “Is nothing better than rest with good song.” The old man smiled, he was missing a few teeth.

“She’s right!” he exclaimed.

“Fine with me.” Azura said, sitting down and opening her backpack, and pulling assorted food items from it. Aiden and Caden’s eyes lit up.

“Yeah, lunch would be nice.” Caden said, sitting down next to Forrest.

“Hell yeah.” Aiden sat next to his brother and the two began extracting large chunks of precooked meat and bread from their sacks. Lowe figured there was no arguing with them, and besides that, the Fremennik Province was close by, they were making good time, very good time. Lowe knew it was possible to walk from Camelot to Rellekka in a few hours, but with his companions he thought the slowness of Aiden and Caden, and laziness of Azura, would have crippled their travel time. But that wasn’t the case, he guessed he had too little fate in those three.

Lowe sat next to Anastasia, who seemed dazed by the relatively simple song the old man was playing. He attempted to start a conversation, but she cut him off without realizing. “Old man, why do you play song here?” the gentlemen seemed to have not heard her, as he continued to play passionately.

“I play here for the travelers, those who travel between Camelot and Rellekka, for people just like you.” He smiled, and continued to play his beautiful music. What a noble cause, she thought briefly, as she sank her teeth into a dried piece of beef, it was rough and chewy, but had just enough salt and spices to make it enjoyable. The group ate mostly in silence, with little to talk about. About an hour later, and it was noon, they were fully rested and their bellies no longer rumbled.

“Everyone ready to head out?” Lowe asked, pulling his backpack over his shoulder and standing. The group reluctantly stood and stretched, they were fully rested, but the mesmerizing music was hard to depart from. Everyone stood, and thanked the old man for keeping them entertained with the music. Anastasia smiled, and tossed a handful of coins at the mans feet.

“Thank you.” She said, following her companions.

“We should be there in no time.” Lowe informed the group.
