Alright, here's the extra Monolith add as promised.
I'll mention this on the Black Pentagram too' but the add for that story has been postponed until tomorrow. (I recently remembered I have an exam tomorrow at 1, and need to study and sleep.) “The gods be praised!” exclaimed Alex.
Before them was a mountain range at the edge of the desert, but that was not what prompted Alex’* exclamation. Clearly visible between a small gap in the range was a thick forest, promising food and shelter from the sun.
“Let’s hurry and get over there!” said Alex.
“Wait!” ordered Skad, “I feel… something…”
“Like what?” questioned Alex.
“We’re being watched,” replied Skad, “Something is nearby.”
“Are you sure?” asked Alex, “I don’t see any-” Alex was interrupted as a crone wearing a cloak made entirely of colored feathers appeared before them.
“Who are you?” demanded Skad, brandishing his blade.
“You would question me?” asked the crone, “You, who barged into my desert, without permission? How the young fail to learn; yet I will satisfy your curiosity. I am Ventua, the desert sage.”
-You’re lucky Skad,- said the demon, -This woman is a Prantiqeth, but her power seems to be stretched thin at the moment… When we entered this land, I noticed we could neither teleport to or from it, and I imagine this lady is behind such a thing. Also, although you may not be aware of it, that mountain range bears a barrier with it, I suspect this is also her doing.-
-Shall I attack her?- asked Skad.
-No, you fool!- the demon responded, -I do not think she wishes to undo the power that prevents teleportation to this place, or the barrier. But, if you fight her, she could easily do so, and afterward crush even you like an insect! Best to try to make it past this place without fighting her.-
Skad nodded and spoke, “We must pass this place, move aside.”
Ventua laughed at this suggestion, “Oh no, I will not do that, demon contractor, if one such as you were to reach the City, it would mean trouble for us… but take heart, I am old and do not wish to fight. So instead of me, you will fight the guardian of this desert. Come forth, Gazer!”
“Gazer?” questioned Alex. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“That thing, I imagine,” said Hekate, pointing to the mountain range. It took Alex a few second to get a focus on it, but when he did, he was shocked; what was essentially a single large eye, was floating toward them.
The eye landed nearby, and looked over the group for a moment. In that a moment, Alex thought that perhaps it would decide not to attack; he realized his mistake when a beam of light shot from the eye, and headed directly toward him. He jumped to the side, avoiding the attack, but could still feel the warmth emanating from the beam as it burned the sand where he had been standing. Managing to keep himself upright, Alex dashed to the eye before it could react, and jumping, brought his sword into its soft flesh.
A moment later, Alex felt an intense pain in his back and found himself staring at the sky.
“Nice try,” he could hear Ventua saying, “But Gazer is surrounded by a shield of wind so strong it knocked aside Etyon missiles, do you really think you could cut through it?”
Alex groaned and tried to get up; yet, as he did so, he felt similar as if he was taking a mace hit in the stomach, and fell back down, spitting blood. Before he could try to stand again, he felt a burning sensation on his chest, and began to smell smoke. Then he was being pulled away quickly and roughly by someone holding onto the collar of his shirt, and found himself looking at another beam striking the sand before him.
Once he had recovered from shock, he managed to look back and find Hekate was the one pulling him away.
“What’s going on?” he asked, weakly.
“When you tried to get up, the thing hit you with a blast of wind and knocked you back down, before firing its beam at you,” replied Hekate, “Then Skad told me to get you and get away from the fight. He claims he can handle it himself.”
“What?!” demanded Alex, “Is he insane?!” "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“Maybe,” replied Hekate, “But I think we should do as he says, for now. If it looks bad, we can always re-enter the battle.”

“Looks like your friends are gone,” observed Ventua, “Perhaps you should be fleeing as well?”
“Friends?” questioned Skad, “I have no friends, those two are simply along for this trip. And as long as they’re useful, I let them keep their lives, but immediately after that, both shall fall to my blade.”
“You’re truly a coldhearted person, aren’t you?” asked Ventua, “I will be pleased when Gazer kills you.”
As she said this, the eye shot another beam of light, this one at Skad. Skad did*’t even try to move, allowing it to hit him directly on the chest.
“That it?” he asked as the beam continued to strike him, “It tickles, how about I show you some real power!”
As he said this, Skad’s veins began to glow orange, as did his eyes. And the sand beneath his feet began to smoke. Once this began, his mouth curled into a vicious grin and he dashed toward the eye, slamming his sword into it. However, the force of the wind was too strong, and Skad’s blade was deflected. “Too bad,” said Ventua, “You still aren’t strong enough.”
Skad remained smiling and sheathed his sword, “If my sword was a normal sword, you’d be right,” he said, “However, it’s not quite normal…”
As he said this, the eye widened and burst into flames. A moment more and it was simply ashes in the wind.
“How?* asked Ventua.
“Simple,” replied Skad, “My blade is a demonic blade, it can transfer something like heat easily. I simply superheated the wind shield of that thing to a temperature similar to that of a furnace. Needless to say, it combusted rather quickly after that.”
“I see** commented Ventua, “We underestimated you. Nonetheless, the Monolith is a long way yet, and I don’t think you’ll be able to pass through the next territory so easily. The sage of the jungle is much less lenient than I. She will see your group destroyed without hesitation.” Having said this, Ventua vanished as quickly as she had appeared.
Skad’s form returned to normal and he called out, “It’s dead! Let’s go!”
Without waiting for Hekate and Alex to catch up, he headed into the jungle. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

Hmm I remember what happened in the last monolith when a character similar to Skad(kind of anyway) was in the jungle. Guess we shall see.
