The two didn't even know what to say to royalty thanking them for something. They became all flustered. "Y-you're w-w-welcome, madam...!" the knight to the right replied, playing on-and-off with his voice.

Elena then pulled herself back up and the two then began to rush away from the two knights. Raphael and Elena together ran through the city of Governanti, passing structures that housed so many memories. And the marketplace, which was a empty plane of boards and cloth that wobbled with the wind.

The marketplace was eerily silent, only the quiet howl of the wind was all that engulfed the air. Then, the two soloists came into the picture and performed a musical of their own with but the sound of drums. There were no trade of words between the two, they didn't even look at each other. The fact that Raphael wasn't saying anything to her made Elena think perhaps he was angry with her.

But... is that so wrong? She did after all lie to him and the whole resistance about herself. She was no different from Telvern, an untrustworthy person. She wore a masquerade, a false identity to protect herself from what poisonous thoughts the others would think if they knew who she was. The two quietly escaped the grasp of Governanti without the slightest suspension by the guards.

Most likely, they all knew well who they were. But they decided to turn a blind eye due to the fact that that they knew them. The night dragged on, turning close into the morning. It was around 4am upon this cool Autumn night and the two had made some distance from the castle. It was just like a painful memory, far behind them yet still visible on the horizon.

They found themselves in the center of a beautiful field of flowers. Colors from all across the spectrum graced the field here. It was as wondrous as any field of flowers depicted in artwork. Here too were the glows of strange bugs that flew all around them. There had to be hundreds -- if not, thousands -- of these creatures buzzing about.

Their light did not falter, they truly were the personification of pure will and determination. But still, their presence here in this picturesque field of flowers was one that you could only find in the most serene of dreams. The moon's light was only one of the many ingredients to fuel this perfect scene. Another was the tug and pull of the wind that so gently swayed the flowers into a waltz.

Elena looked all around this place, her eyes seemed lost in the maze of memories. This place was a giant place for reminiscence, of all the days that she spent here. Even without looking at her face, Raphael noticed this change in Elena. He took a step forward. "Elena?" he named.

She spun around, facing her leader. "You know, it's quite coincidental that we're coming through here." she thought, holding her left palm slightly out in front of her. Her palm was a few inches from her torso and it was facing the sky. As she did this, one of those strange firefly-like bugs land in the center of her hand. Her pale blue eyes looked down upon the glow of the bug. "This place... my brother and I used to play in these fields all of the time when we were younger."

Raphael could sense the sorrow that hid behind her voice as she drifted off into the sea of uncertainty. But still, one question hung on Raphael's tongue. "Why did you hide it?" Raphael asked. "You could've told us that you were actually Princess Lucia..."

She then looked up towards the night sky. "No, that wasn't an option." she stated. "You probably saw it for yourself before you left for Governanti. Now that they know, I know that I won't be welcomed back or even treated the way I was before when they thought I was human."

"They welcomed Fionnlagh, didn't they?" he questioned. "And he's a god."

"There's a difference between him and myself," Elena explained. "I am of royal descent, he is not. And all this time, I've lied to everyone... even Uriel. These past six years, I've lived out this lie and have become someone I'm not. I realize now that I shall no longer be welcomed nor accepted by those I once called my allies... my friends."

Raphael shook his head. "I'm not going to let that happen," he boldly assured. "I don't care how but they're going to accept you."

Elena then looked back at Raphael. "You can't force people to change, Raphael." she responded, her eyes then became lost again. She turned her head away as she looked down upon the ground. "With these eyes of mine, I can deceive anyone into believing that I'm human... I guess truly all gods are alike. Whether we're cowards or arrogant fools, we're all the same."

"Your eyes..." mumbled Raphael. "Those are what the gods call 'Night Eyes', right? Some of your kind are born without the glow of their eyes—..."

"—unless they activate a form of their power, yes." she confirmed. "My mother had them too."

"Then you weren't born to deceive us, Elena." Raphael explained, pushing out his thoughts. "I think they will accept you, it'll just take some time."

Elena closed her eyes, letting out a smirk as if she were amused by Raphael's words. "I don't think you truly understand, Raphael." the archer believed, turning her head. Her face gazed upon the young silver-haired man who so optimistically believed that eventually they will grow to accept her. She shook her head, regaining her serious look. "Your kind truly resents my kind with every fiber in their being. I've witnessed this first-hand."

"What do you mean?" Raphael asked with a question mark raised over his head.

"I was just a little girl at the time," Elena explained, her voice grew heavier with each word. "I was about twelve, which in human years is about six. It was in the beginning of Spring, the sun was bright but the air was still thick with the chill of Winter..."

The memory of the day played out in Elena's mind as fresh as a wound from a long and brutal battle. Two children, one about the age of eleven and the other the age of six. The eleven-year-old's hair was short and black-as-coal. His face was innocent, very childish and naive in appearance. His eyes were a bold sapphire blue that had a slight glow to them. The boy was wearing a light brown dress shirt that was slightly ruffled, much like a poet shirt.

He wore dark brown slacks and boots that reached up to his knees. There was a young girl in the room as well, since after all this was her room. She had medium-length black hair that reached down to about her shoulders. She too was a young child that looked innocent in appearance. Her eyes were pale blue but not glowing.

She wore a loose white dress that was sort of frilled in appearance. This dress went down to about her ankles. The dress was sleeveless so on top of that dress she wore a dark red capelet that was shoulder height in the front but was all the down to her waist in the back. It was trimmed with black lacing. She wore white stockings around her legs and small, black loafers on her feet.

The two were presumably playing a game with each other, their laughter could brighten up even the darkest of days. The girl looked behind as the young boy was chasing after her. She wore a large smile on her face. "Can't catch me!" she teased.

The young boy reached his right hand out towards her. "I'll get you!" he exclaimed. The two were running in circles until one submitted to defeat. As the two were distracted by their little game, the door into the little girl's room opened and closed. There, three humans entered the room. They seemed to be slaves, given that the men of the group had either long beards or a heavy five o'clock shadow.

Their clothing was tattered too and quite dirty. A woman was at the front, looking back at the two men accompanying her. She shook her head, the others followed her as well. The children stopped what they were doing and looked towards the three. The little girl smiled and frantically waved. "Hello miss and misters!" she happily greeted.

But something felt off to the young boy, his sapphire blue eyes looked onto the three with question. The three just stood there without a word. "Well, go on," he said.

The woman bowed. "Please forgive us, young masters." the woman replied. The little girl then turned towards the young boy, who then just shrugged his shoulders. The two then just resume their playing, this time the little girl was attempting to catch the boy. The woman then turned her back and began dusting a table with the small brush she brought in.

As the children's laughing and giggling echoed across the room, the woman knelt down and tightly grasped onto her brush. She then pulled the handle of the brush away from the bristles, revealing a small blade that was hidden inside the bush of bristles. The handle of the brush was actually the handle of a dagger.

She then slowly stood up back onto her feet, a deep malice became very apparent on her face. This foreboding hatred was like a fire feeding off of her feelings in her eyes. She glared back at the kids who were playing games with each other. The woman then rushed forward, her dagger held firmly in her hand.

Unable to predict the inhumane, monstrous act that was about to befall upon her, the little girl continued to chase her brother. But then suddenly, as she was turning around to face the southern wall, she felt something she had never experienced before. A dagger's tongue dug deep into her torso, blood began to soak her white dress.

The little girl's eyes had widened, unable to fathom what exactly was going on. The boy then suddenly heard that the little girl's laughter ceased. He turned around to see what exactly had happened to her, and immediately afterwards his giggling stopped too. His eyes shot open as they began to water.

The woman then pulled the dagger out of the little girl, she began to tumble down onto the ground. The boy quickly rushed over to her. "NO!" he yelped off the top of his lungs. He managed to catch her in his arms before she hit the ground. He looked down at her face, his hands and whole body trembling. He couldn't believe what had played out in front of him.

His teeth were fastened together, he seethed with sadness and anger. The little girl's face was blank, almost lifeless. The bleeding was profuse, unable to be controlled. The boy couldn't get ahold of himself, tears fell from his eyes like leaves from a dying tree. "No..." he muttered softly. "Sis... sis...! ...Why?!"

"You can blame your fate..." spitefully spewed the lashing voice of the woman. The young boy heard the woman's voice and looked up at her. Her stare was enough to send chills down the boy's soul. It was like he was staring into the cold eyes of evil itself. "...for being born to them."

The door into the room suddenly exploded open, it opened so fast that it almost fell off of its hinges. This sound was accompanied by the sound of a sword slash. The woman and the other man quickly twisted their attention in that direction. The body of their companion laid lifeless upon the floor. His body was almost cut in half, only a strap of flesh kept it together.

Standing above the body was that noble father himself. His stare roared with a fury unlike any other. The man and the woman were taken aback, distraught by the king's sudden appearance. "Dammit," growled the man. "I didn't think he would show up so early...!"

Divus stared directly at the woman who had stabbed his daughter. His face wore anger but he was as calm and composed as the air before a powerful storm. "It's one thing to harm a fully grown man," said Divus. "but to drag children into such matters... you deserve no mercy."

Wielding Arbandor in his right hand, he took a step forward. The man then began to charge forward, letting out a fierce battlecry as he did. This was to the woman's dissatisfaction, she reached her right hand out in front of her. "Arnold, stop you fool!" she shouted.

The man readied his right hand, turning it into a fist. He launched that furious ball towards the face of the king, who just stood there and took it. The fist pounded against his visage, yet no physical reaction was made. The attack didn't even so much as faze Divus, the man might as well of punched a stone wall. The man seemed shocked by this event, unable to grasp it.

Divus slowly reached his left hand up towards the man's arm. His hand wrapped around his forearm. After five seconds of his hand being wrapped around his arm, the sound of popping exploded in the air. Crackle, crackle... a sound that would drive anyone to cover their ears. The man then screamed in pain, feeling as the sheer strength of Divus' grasp break every single bone in his arm.

Divus then launched his blade straight into the stomach of the man, his blade speared through the center of his torso and out the other side. Blood poured out from the sight of the injury, dripping to the floor. Divus then pulled the blade out of the man's body. He still stood up on his feet despite the injury, still ready to fight the king. Though he wobbled like a drunken man.

The king pulled his left hand and gently pushed it towards the man's face. This caused the injured man to fall down onto the ground, unable to gather the strength to pick himself up. Divus' eyes glared sharply at the woman, the only one left. She was terrified of what Divus might do to her. Those eyes that Divus was giving her, eyes of a judge casting their judgment upon her.

She could think of but one thing to do. She readied her dagger, but not to fight. "Glory to the next age of humans!" she fearlessly shouted. She then plunged her dagger towards herself, the dagger stabbed right beneath her heart. Divus was not at all fazed by this display. She then pulled the dagger out of her, it fell from her hand.

She then toppled over, falling like an imbalanced scale. Her body then crashed onto the ground, lying in a pool of her own blood. The threat had been eliminated, so the world was safe once again. Divus rushed over towards his two children as fast as he could. He knelt down to Balor's right. Balor kept shaking his sister in his arms. "Lucia!" he cried. " SIS! "

Balor's head quickly turned up towards his father. His face was completely horrified, he didn't know what to think. "Father," he called. "what are we going to do?"

Divus' calm demeanor shifted into a sorrowful appearance. "Everything we can, son." he stated as calmly as he could, he quickly turned his head towards the entrance he came from. "Leena, get the nurses in here now!"

"It.. it's okay..." softly muttered a familiar voice. Balor's heart skipped a beat once they heard that voice. Divus seemed surprised by this, quickly he turned his attention back onto her. Lucia's eyes cracked open, revealing her pale blue eyes had a glow to them. She then let out a weak smile.

Backing away from the memory, the world returned to that scene playing at the flower field in the present. After hearing this tale, Raphael was at a loss for words. He had no idea what to say to Elena. A wind blew in from the west, passing the two by. Elena's pale blue eyes turned onto Raphael. "Balor was never the same after that incident." Elena stated. "He used to be a much kinder person. He actually felt bad for the humans and he wouldn't do anything to harm them. The way he treats humans, the way he feels about humans now... all of that stems from that day."

"Elena..." Raphael mumbled her name, that was the only thing he could say.

"I survived that day only because of a sheer miracle." the archer explained. "According to my mother, I have the ability to survive most wounds that should kill me. She told me that the wife of King Nomos, my great grandmother Ilona, had the same ability. So, she speculated that I must have inherited it from her."

"...I'm sorry." the young leader said, his heart wretched at her story.

Elena closed her eyes and let out a sigh. "I suppose that's why I didn't disclose my true identity." she confessed. "Perhaps it's because I don't trust humans. So, thinking about going back to the resistance, knowing full-well that they know who I am now... kind of scares me."

A minute of silence went by as Raphael herded the strength necessary to speak. Raphael gained a rather intense look on his face, he held confidence and boldly readied himself to shoot for words. "I swear on my life," Raphael strongly and ardently responded, taking a step forward. "I won't let anything happen to you."

Elena reacted to this unforeseen response, opening her eyes and looked over at Raphael. She saw the seriousness on his face, this determination and will to not allow anything to happen. It reminded her alot of these bugs all around them, unwilling to surrender and falter. She smiled at him, turning her face back up to the night sky.

The little bug in her hand then flew away. "These insects around us are called eternal sunflies." Elena told Raphael. "In our world, they represent the unwillingness to surrender; to never give up. They say that they came to this world because King Dias brought some with him. And just before a battle, he would let a few loose in front of all of his men, symbolizing to them to never lose heart -- no matter what."

Raphael smiled lightly. "Then perhaps we need to be a little bit more like the sunfly," he replied, closing his eyes.

"Yes, perhaps..." she softly concurred.

As the two continued to speak to one another, Elena appeared to have a battle behind her lips. Raphael took a few steps forward, now he was just two steps from her side. He noticed that Elena appeared, raising his right eyebrow. "What is it?" Raphael questioned, his purple eyes leaned on her. A moment of silence passed and still Elena would not share what hid inside of her. "You can tell me."

"I'm not sure right now, but I feel that you're the only one I can trust, Raphael." the archer expounded. "So, I want to ask -- how well do you know of the god's history?"

Raphael shook his head. "Not very well," he responded.

"We hail from a land beyond this one." Elena told the young silver haired man. "I've never seen this world with my own eyes. But father used to tell me stories about its beauty and the myths that lurked within. Supposedly, the world was where the god called Saradomin once lived before he and several others arrived here, to Gielinor. This would make us his descendants. But many -- if not most -- of our kind choose not to believe in these ancestors of ours. Instead, they insist that we are our own race... called gods."

Raphael's interest had begun to pique, raising both of his eyebrows. "So you're a descendant of Saradomin?" commented Raphael, quoting the story that she told him.
