Elena then drew in air into her lungs, sighing out a very tense feeling. "Raphael," she named calmly. "what I'm about to tell you is something that my kind are sworn at a very young age to never utter."

His intrigue truly had reach its peak. His eyes stared up at Elena, who looked back at him. "What's that?" he asked.

"Solasúians," she replied, naming a very strange name. She shook her head. "We are not gods, we are known as Solasúians. We come from the world known as Solasúila."

""Solasúians"..." quoted Raphael, attempting to etch the name deep inside his head. "Wait... if this is actually what you are, why do you deny it?"

"Since my kind doesn't believe in Saradomin or the other gods that did battle in this world, they believe themselves to be the only ones fitting of the title." Elena stated, responding to Raphael's question. "Of course, this delusional belief that they are gods was born out of pure arrogance."

"I see." spoke the silver haired leader, who then crossed his arms. "Elena, you're nothing like the others. Even after all that you've been through, you're still willing to fight with us -- that takes courage."

Elena smiled. "If you say so," she replied, her words hiding under a sort of giggle.

A nervous sweat dropped from the left side of his face. "I-I'm serious!" he loudly stated.

She still laughed lightly, it popped from behind her lips. "Oh, I know!" the princess declared. Elena pulled her hands behind her back. They folded into each other, turning into one. She turned towards the way that they were going. "Come on, we need to get back to making our way home."

Elena's body then began animated once again, beginning to move forward. Raphael realized that she had begun to walk. He quickly rush over to be by her side. As the two began walking together, Elena's mind began to lose focus on the path in front of her. She began to think about all that had happened and what will happen once she returned to the Lumbridge Resistance.

That thought made a unanswerable knot in her stomach. It was a tangled mess of all sorts of emotions, mainly of fear and sorrow. But then her mind would think... she had a very incredible guy by her side. This would alleviate those emotions and make her smile once again. His support was truly something she treasured.

Though the castle of Lumbridge was now before them, she felt like she could endure whatever will come her way. Whatever that might be, she will take anything that could happen. Anything...

Could this be just another façade? Or perhaps, did she actually find her truest self?

Thank you for reading! I appreciate it. ^_^

Yep... nice to be back!

P.S: Solasúians is pronounced so-la-shee-ins.

Hospitaller Knights are pretty cool, it’s indeed nice to know that they’re still active to this day.

“She was surrounded by the memories that echoed like a ghostly ballroom dance, spinning and swirling all around her.”
What a great description.

Chapter 10 is full of strong sentences portraying emotional elements. I felt Balor was perhaps too emotional, but that’s just me, and it does reveal a sudden change anyway.

Page 40, post 4, the last sentence ends mysteriously. Maybe the post limit was reached.

Page 41, first post, last sentence, “of these creatures flying buzzing about.”
An “and” needs to be tossed between “flying” and “buzzing”, just saying.

So there are a few things revealed; the identity of the origin of the godly people, someone’s mother, an ability to heal wounds, guards turning a blind eye (which I liked), and an unfolding scene that is open to any direction. I will admit I do not recall much else prior to chapter ten, though, my memory has somewhat declined in efficiency ever since two years ago.

Well, and that’s the end of chapter ten. Overall a nice comeback, I will say I am impressed by the descriptions, however, the stabbing of the little girl was not quite enough to soften me up. I am a rather stolid person myself. I decided to limit my comments for the chapter, so that’s all for now, I look forward to the finale of the story.

OHHHHHH! I knew I was going to do something like that! D:< Anyway, thanks for letting me know. I'll fix that right up (as you can probably guess, my eyes are pretty bad at proofreading. xD)

Hold on, let me look at some stuff. I probably did reach the post limit on that one, thanks to the forum's rather stupid quote problem. I'll fix it.

People have sort of a different way of handling things. Balor himself finds that his sister is the only thing that matters to him. He wants to fix the world that brought her harm and nearly killed her. I think if someone matters so much to you that you're willing to go to Hell and back for them and then they tell you that perhaps they hate you for things that you've done then I think you'll react pretty emotional... 'least I would.

Anyway, thanks again!

Chapter 11: The State of the World

The glare of the morning sun was draped over the eyes of the world like a hermit's beard. Here, the shining light woke up from its slumber after wondering if it would ever wake up again. It was a meek illumination which threw its eyes down upon the world. The events of the night came and went by like the coming of the wind. And although one had accepted her, all others might not.

Dwelling beneath the grounds of the Castle of Lumbridge was a noble that turned into a prisoner. Lanius, a member of the King's Counsel, laid in a rather uncomfortable bed that was a few inches off of the ground. The bed felt as hard as granite, but it was something the noble had grown accustomed to.

It had been a brief time since the Resistance's victory at Ormemel, which repainted it back to the glorious city of the White Knights. His azure blue irises cracked open, staring at what he could barely make out as a stone wall that seemed slightly wet. It was infinite darkness all around him, making all seem impossible to see in this tenebrous environment.

But something was different, he was actually able to see more than he should. There appeared to be a small light coming from outside his cell. He could actually see the small sink to the western wall of his cell and the void that was the world around him. As the rancid smell of death and decay burnt the very hairs of his nostrils, his eyes looked up and outside of his containment.

He saw a young man, his eyes very focused upon the context of a book he was reading. He was sitting in front of a very old and unstable table with him sitting on a chair equally so. The young man seemed distracted, his mind completely consumed by the book. Lanius' vision assisted him in making out the title of the book, which was about the fabled Life Rune and all of its myths.

The noble rose from his crypt, his bare feet swinging around and coming down onto the stone floor. His skin felt the sting of the gelid tomb. He was dressed in rather tattered clothing, fit for any slave in his county's employment. He sat there in his bed, the glow of his eyes was like a blade cutting through a body in this lightlessness.

His eyes left the front and went up to the face of a man he took interest in. Lanius could barely piece together the visage of the man as it was covered by a cloak of shadow. "Don't you think you're a little too old to be reading fairy tales?" mockingly asked the noble.

The young man was surprised by the sudden words of the prisoner he had been watching. He closed his eyes and lowered his head. The light of the candle shined off of his glasses. "Oh, I see you're awake," he quickly noted. His head then turned towards the noble. Still, Lanius was unable to make out his face. A light smile grew on the man's face. "I'm afraid that this is no fairy tale."

The voice was very familiar to the noble. As he pondered for a moment, he quickly realized exactly who it was. "Thaddeus..." growled Lanius, aggravated. "What in the Hero King's name do you think you're doing in the Resistance? Have you decided to betray Lord Balor!?"

Telvern quickly rekindled his focus upon the pages of his book. "Oh no," he responded to the claim of betrayal. "I'm here because of the rather interesting specimen. Besides, there's more to gain here than with petty gods."

Lanius quickly bolted out from his bed. ""Petty"!?" furiously quoted the god.

"Yes, petty ," the young genius replied. "well, no... perhaps that was a bit incorrect. Not all of you are petty. Indeed, only most of you are -- such as yourself."

The noble was steaming now. His anger became a rancor that bloomed like a dying flower in reverse. "You insolent—!" Lanius' voice shook, quaking with ire.

"Hey, did you know that Lord Balor paid us a visit?" questioned Telvern, changing the subject. He spoke rather calmly despite the seething storm of displeasure upon him.

"What...?" muttered the noble. "Did he—?"

"Oh no, he didn't ask at all about you." explained the young genius. "The fact is, I think he couldn't care less whether you live or die."

Lanius' teeth held tight onto each other, his eyes weighing heavily upon the young genius' shoulders. "You lie," angrily responded the noble, denying the genius' words. "I have served the Kingdom of Governanti for over forty years! I know His Majesty realizes my importance to him!"

"Oh, relax," he suggested. "I'm sure Lord Balor will figure that out... you know, eventually."

A breath of silence passed, not a word was uttered. The prisoner fell silent to only the sound of water dripping from the ceiling. Lanius almost seemed lost, feeling rather insignificant after Telvern's words to him. But then, Telvern's brown, steely eyes were revealed to the noble, showcasing a lack of sympathy or remorse to the prisoner. "You know what I think is rather laughable?" questioned Telvern. "You mentioned a moment ago that the Life Rune was but a fairy tale, right? Indeed, the books of ancient times do refer to it as just a legend. But here's the clincher!"

His hand reached down onto the table where the candle's light burned. His hand took hold of a stone that was sitting on the left side of the table. There, he held up the stone and revealed its face to the god. His glowing eyes then widened, the image of a yellow mark drawn on the surface of the rock appeared inside his eyes.

It looked like a yellow circle with lines coming out of it, much like a sun and its shine. "It's right here -- in my hand!" declared the young genius. "So many years of my life! All devoted to finding the secret to creating the fabled rune that invokes life! And somehow, I've stumbled upon the very thing that men have spent lifetimes attempting to find!"

"But now you know the secret!" exclaimed Lanius. "You must give it to His Majesty! You should feel the same as us -- I know you do! You too possess the desire to see this world become a utopia for our kind!"

Telvern's left eyebrow rose, unable to understand the prisoner. "I hope you're joking," he quickly replied.

Lanius' face seemed dumbfounded. "W-wha...?"

"You forget," he said as he continued to explain. "I am not a Solasúian. I am but a humble, lowly human."

His breathtaken expression quickly melted away into a furious blast of hot air. "THADDEUS!" he roared off as loudly as he could. "Would you betray the very thing you were sworn to with your life!?"

"And what if I did?" asked Telvern, his eyes then turned back onto the ink that wrote down words of the legend and myth of the very rune he held in his hand. "What could you possibly do?"

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" stated the ire that ruptured from the noble. His hands then fastened around the metal bars that caged him inside. The metal bars then began to bend out as he pulled them apart.

"Oh," spoke Telvern with a bit of surprise, not taking his eyes off of his book. "you're even stupider than I thought." Telvern had kept his right hand in his summoning bag the whole time, perhaps anticipating Lanius' reaction. His thumb poked up a hole through the pouch his hand took a hold of. To Lanius, the white light sliced through the lightlessness like a hot knife through jelly.

A figure of a fearsome beast then began to take shape in front of the relaxed, composed genius. Just like before, it was like white flaming sand was filling an invisible glass figure in the shape of a lion-like creature. It became the mighty Talon Beast, its fangs bare and ready to kill. It appeared just in front of the noble.

Its presence was intimidating to a person who has not known a day in combat. His anger eroded into helplessness, terrified at the prospect of losing his life. The sight of the beast was enough to send a wave of gelid chills up and down his spine. A drip of sweat rolled down his forehead. "W-wait," frightfully stuttered Lanius' skipping voice. "p-ple-please don't!"

The Talon Beast took a step forward, sending Lanius to take a step backward. Though he made a misstep, staggering off-balance. He did manage to keep himself on his feet. "L-Lord Thaddeus...! Please...!" Lanius fearfully pleaded.

"Now answer me this: why would I spare your life?" asked Telvern, standing up from his chair. "You know too much now, after all. Hmm... yes, I think that's a valid reason to kill you. Well, even though I technically told you that of my own accord but nevertheless! My beast, please dispose of our friend here."

The Talon Beast hissed and growled as it acknowledged its master's command. Lanius' heart sank into his stomach once he heard the command issued. He quickly threw his hands out in front of them and swiftly waved them. "Wait, wait! Please! Don't!" he begged for Telvern's mercy. But Telvern's focus was no longer with him, his eyes were now glued onto his book.

The world around him quieted as his brown eyes scrolled from word to word on the pages of his book. The beast had pounced on top of Lanius and had begun to dig its fangs into his neck, biting down upon his throat. Blood began to stain the stone red, pour out from the injury the noble had begun to sustain.

Lanius could do nothing, even with all of his power. He was completely helpless as his consciousness faded away. Though his screams of terror filled the hollow room, they fell upon deaf ears. Lanius' hands pushed against the front of the beast, attempting to pry it off of him. But its claws were hooked into his flesh, there was no way it could escape.
