Raphael fell down on the bed that almost became his deathbed. His body hit the cotton sea and comfort. He laid down on his back as he wrapped his body with sheet of cloth. He closed his eyes slowly, despite the events that occurred he was still rather tired. "Goodnight, Elena," he said to the young female archer.

Elena watched as Raphael got settled in his bed. "Goodnight, Raphael," she replied. Raphael got to trying to sleep, no longer speaking out to the young woman who was in charge of keeping his life alive. Elena turned her head away from Raphael and towards the window. Her pale blue irises gazed outside and into the darkness of the night. The silver light of the moon beating down on her face as it reflected off of her eyes.

With the many thoughts swimming in her head, one in particular had her deeply in question. Once this way came to light, her left hand's grasp upon the handle of the Steel Longsword squeezed with constricting force. Her face wore a tense look on it, a look of uncertainty and question. She closed her eyes, realizing that the possibility of her thought coming true was very likely.

Chapter 6: The Man in the Hood

The night that brought waves of uncertainty upon the shores of the Lumbridge Resistance has come and gone. At the end of the last push, the rise of a new day came to dawn. The guardian of light rose up into the cool Autumn sky in a bash of oranges and blues. The clouds were half purple, half orange as they touched the face of the air around the sun.

A gentle breeze flew by the emerald green grass that surrounded the castle of Lumbridge. The verdant blades swayed with the current of air like a crowd. The sun's warm touch brought to life many of the world's inhabitance, including the many rabbits and squirrels that roam the land as freely as the wind.

Several hours have passed since the eyes of death stared down upon the sleeping face of Raphael Béla. Without reason, she left her target alive. Through the course of the tense night, Elena kept her skillful eye upon her leader. She sat by the same table that she sat by the very moment she took on the duty of protecting Raphael as he slept. She was there for most of the time.

Her pale blue irises stared blankly outside of the window that acted as the entrance into the keep of the young silver haired leader. Hours passed with little warning as the young archer's mind stretch thinner than an army on the verge of war. It was now 9:23 am, the sun was well enough into the sky. It's eyes watchfully gazed upon the faces of the people of the independent city of Lumbridge.

Elena's ears then captured a battalion of sounds coming from the bedside of Raphael's bed. Her eyes shifted over to the source of the sheet tugging and bedspring creaking. She saw the young leader sitting up out of the arms that almost became his coffin. Raphael's left hand reached up towards the left side of his face, it then began to rub his left eye.

Elena assured herself that the source of all the sound was coming from Raphael awakening. Her face lit up with a soft smile, she seemed glad that the night went the way they would hope for. "Good morning, Raphael," she warmly greeted. "How was your sleep?"

Raphael's mouth opened up slightly, his lungs vaccumed air with speed. Just as quickly as it took in the air, it let it go in a tired, annoyed sigh. "Not long enough," Raphael answered. "Did anything happen?"

Elena shook her head. "No," quickly responded Elena. "Everything was fine."

Raphael's left hand then reached to the back of his head. "Well," he said. "That's always a good thing."

"They'll be back tomorrow," stated a child's voice from the right of Raphael. Raphael's purple irises flipped over to that direction. He saw the very angry looking boy, Uriel. His arms were crossed and his face was gripped by a stern mask. "Hell, they might even come out to find you in the middle of the day."

Elena's face turned towards the boy. Her eyes gazed directly at him, she seemed curious. "So," she spoke. "Do these assassins always act this way, Uriel?"

Uriel parroted his sister, he turned his head towards the young archer. He then shook his head. "Yeah," the boy confirmed. "Frankly, Raphael might actually have Libitina after him."

Raphael's eyebrows rocketed upwards. "The leader?" he questioned. "But...why?"

Uriel closed his eyes. "Balor must really want you dead," he thought. "The price of having Libitina herself assassinate a person is about ten-million gold pieces."

Raphael's eyes pop open widely. "T-te-ten million?!" Raphael stuttered.

Uriel shook his head. "It's that high because it's a guaranteed kill," he stated. "Libitina never fails, even if she has to kill more than the target."

Elena slowly rose up from the cushion of the chair. "Why do you believe that she was the one that came here?" questioned Elena.

"Simply because I know how she works," responded the boy. "The fact that she entered via a window without even alerting a single guard that patrols the area. Typically, one of the guards would easily be able to spot somebody climbing up into a window. But not with Libitina...she came get in and out of a place without anybody noticing via any place. Even something as blunt and stupid as the front door."

Elena crossed her arms. "With that kind of ability," said Elena. "She must be a god."

Uriel shook his head, opening his eyes. "Yes," he confirmed once again. "I once witnessed her kill an entire squad of highly trained knights without even the slightest noise."

"Personally, I think something needs to be done," stated Raphael, a look of intensity grew boldly on his face. "She and her people have done too much to our resistance to be left alone. Uriel, how do we stop them?"

"Bring the battle to them," swiftly answered Uriel. "Libitina may be good under the shroud of silence and shadow but she stands at a disadvantage if she has to fight."

Raphael shook his head. "Good," he thought, catapulting himself out of his bed. He threw the sheets and blankets off of his body as it flew into the air. He lands perfectly on his feet, his face spoke words of a bold plan in hand. He was ready to face the enemy. His face flipped between Elena and Uriel. "You two need to prepare yourselves for what lies ahead, all right?"

Elena shook her head. "Okay," she acknowledged.

The boy closed his eyes. "I'll take you there," he said. "Remember, despite a slight disadvantage, the Desert Assassins are still deadly within a short range distance. Especially the higher ranks."

"Sounds intensely dangerous," described a voice of a genius from behind. Telvern appeared just behind the young angry boy. His face had a light smirk on it, his eyes held onto bags that looked as if they held the money of an entire bank in them. His vision scrolled across sentences and sentences of ink written words drawn on the papers of a book in his left hand. "Would you all mind if I come to help?"

Raphael raised his left eyebrow. "Even though you did nothing when we were at Ormemel?" questioned the young leader.

"Oh, well..." said Telvern, thinking of a way to explain himself. "I may...sometimes get a little caught up in my research that I might just forget to pay attention to the world around me. So, yes...I think you don't mind, do you?"

"Right..." mumbled Raphael, just forgiving and forgetting. "Just try not to do that this time, please?"

"Sure thing," understood Telvern, his voice sounded almost like he didn't understand what Raphael said. The group of four prepared themselves for the fight, knowing full well of the dangers that lurked before them. Everybody threw on their coats and swords for what lied ahead. Within the flash of an hour, the group set out for the outside. They entrusted the safety of the people and the castle to the dedicated soldiers of the resistance.

Another hour scrolled by with swiftness, the four were then swallowed by the mouths of sand and heat. Tall mountains of sand and rock stretched as far as the eye could see. The heat was incredible, a staggering one-hundred-and-ten degrees Fahrenheit. Heat waves wiggled and waved from far away.

The group climbed up hill after hill of sand, Uriel's wise eyes looked left and right as they traveled. Raphael seemed utterly taxed by the exhausting heat while the other three didn't seem the least bit fazed. Uriel led the way as if he were guiding the blind, his turquoise irises then spot a cactus. It stood up like a pitchfork.

Uriel walked over to the cactus in a haste. His eyes peered onto the light green skin of the cactus with care. His eyes then spotted a symbol in the center, needles in a circular pattern with one single needle in the center of that circle. Uriel turned his head back towards the group. "We're here," stated Uriel, he turned his head back towards the cactus.

Raphael raised his right eyebrow. "We are?" he asked. Uriel's eyes focused entirely on that one needle in the center of the circular needle pattern. He raised his right thumb up towards the needle in the center and then pressed his thumb into the needle. Uriel's teeth grit together, a slight grimace clenched his face.

Elena and Raphael were both taken back by this, their faces spoke their surprise. Crimson then began to drip from the point of injury on Uriel's thumb. He took his thumb back and then began to brush a circle around the needle in the center in his own blood. Uriel draws a complete circle out of his own blood around the single needle.

Once he does, the ground underneath the four began to quiver incredibly. Raphael and Elena frantically shuffled their heads, confused as to what was going on. Telvern still was not fazed, his mind too caught up in his book. Just to the left of the group, each grain of sand began to pull away from each other.

As a mountain of sand was sheered in half, a staircase leading down into the heart of the mountain of sand was revealed. It was the entrance into a hidden stone temple underneath the sea of sand. Raphael, Elena, and Uriel's eyes gazed down into the mouth of the desert. Their minds raced with questions of the future - of what will happen next.

A waterfall of sand poured down onto the newly opened staircase, it rolled down about fourteen feet before reaching a flat stone pathway leading deeper into the temple. After the sand has rested in it's new position, Uriel then began walking towards the staircase. His feet touched down upon the face of the first stair. The other three follow him, the four began walking deeper into the heart of the temple.

They all make it down the stairs, their focus now turned towards the faintly lit pathway before them. It was about eight feet wide and just as long as the everlasting desert. Without delay, the group cast themselves into the deep pond of the unknown. To their left and right were statues of a beautiful woman. Her right hand dangled at her side while her left hand was raised up to about the height of her head.

She was about 5'4 feet tall and she had long hair. She wore a fine, sleeveless dress and a sash across her torso. She wore no shoes and her arms went all the way down below her knees. She had an intensity in her eyes that was reflected even on stone. Elena shuffled her head left and right, her vision gazing at each face of each statue.

Something odd came over Elena, it was a strange feeling that she had never felt before. It was as if she was familiar with the face of this woman despite never seeing her in her entire life. "This woman," mumbled Elena. "She is Lamia, goddess of demons, is she not?"

Telvern raised his left hand. His left index finger flipped up, it stood up straight like a flag symbolizing surrender. "Actually," said Telvern. "Lamia isn't the goddess of demons. She was the queen of a race known as the Neheztelians. Because the gods thought the race posed as a threat to their civilization and because the gods felt that the race were abominations, they were banished. They were left to rot in the Wastelands of the Abyss. Lamia was utterly disgusted by this act and so she and her kind waged a war upon the gods. That made the gods forever label Lamia's kind as 'demons'."

Uriel shook his head. "Yes," he responded. "The Desert Assassins have cherished and praised Lamia since the day of their birth back during the early years of the god's control over this land. Some say that this group was founded by the last surviving members of that kind. Their queen is supposedly the reincarnation of Lamia however I think that's highly unlikely."

Telvern placed his left hand back down to his side. "Yes," agreed Telvern. "The dead don't come back -- not unless you have a Life Rune in your disposal! But since such a thing doesn't exist...yet, you shouldn't even consider such an absurd belief."

Ten minutes of walking through the faintly lit hallway finally came and went and the cover of the darkness has finally been blown. The four emerged into a very open room full of ruins and sand. The room was about the size of a football field with the echoes of a ancient temple all around them.

One-hundred foot tall obelisks towered over the heads of the group while some other pillars lay on the sandy floor. All the ruins were beige. The hollow corpse of a stone fortress laid dead upon the ground at the heart of the room. Emerald green grass and tall palm trees were all around the group while a small waterfall acted as a dividing line, cutting the room in half.

On top of the obelisks, the remaining pillars, and the remains of the fortress were the familiar black cloaks. Their eyes peered down upon the group with death on their minds. Some of them stood on their feet while others were sitting down on top of the ruins. Raphael and Elena shuffled their eyes all across the room, their eyes gazed at each and every black hood.

They then began to walk slowly forward, their legs moved towards the center of the room which was the center of the fortress. The twenty black robed assassins watched the four with care, the smell of their blades craving into their target's flesh was on the tips of their minds. The group moved with caution, their eyes keeping watch of each and every single movement.

Finally, they get into the inside of the hallow heart of the ruins. They stood back to back as they kept their guard extremely high. Just in front of the group was a throne chair, made of the same material as the ruins. On it sat the queen of the Desert Assassins, Libitina. She silently watched the four cautiously focus on their observers.

Just to her left was her trusty second-in-command, Calvin Albertia. He stood tall and straight on his feet. His legs were glued together and his arms were crossed. His pale blue irises gazed upon the four with an gleeful look on his face. Libitina glared at the four with her stolid red faintly glowing irises. Her face mimicked no emotion but her vision slowly began to turn onto Raphael.

Calvin smiled. "Heya," the young assassin greeted, his voice took the attention of the four. They all turned their focus upon the source of the voice. Their eyes gazed upon Calvin. "Welcome ta our little home."

Uriel's face became extremely infuriated once his turquoise irises took a look upon the face of the man. "Shut your mouth," angrily growled the boy. "You owe us some lives and we are surely going to take them."

Calvin sighed. "Oh dear, oh dear..." Calvin calmly replied. "Ain't ya a little bit happy ta be back home, little man? No fond memories, no nostalgia, no "Wow, I remember something that happened here that was funny" kinda moments?"

Raphael grabbed onto the handle of his father's sword, Falcon, with his left hand. "I'm afraid that we cannot allow you to continue your work," stated Raphael as his purple irises bled intense focus upon the two in front of him. "Just please give up your ways and we won't harm you. If you don't then we'll have no choice but to fight."

Calvin turned his head towards the source of the voice attempting to be commanding. His eyebrows rose up, touching the edge of his scalp. "Guess you must be Raphael Béla," thought Calvin. "Lookie here kid, this is our life. We ain't just gonna stop doin' our business simply 'cause ya tell us ta."

Raphael drew in breath into his lungs. This air is quickly shoved out of his bellows and back out into the world. "Then I'm afraid we'll have to fight," stated angrily by Raphael, drawing his sword. "I'm sorry but we have no choice."

Just after Raphael finished his sentence, the assassins that stood at the top of the ruins suddenly dropped down. As they fell, their hands latched tightly onto the handles of their shortswords and daggers. They all landed perfectly and firmly on their feet, all of them on their knees. They then slowly rose to their feet, their weapons at their ready to deliver death.
