<Bah, of course I'd have eaten all of it by then, whatever it is. It sounds most delicious... and I couldn't let Nrilgroth have it, now could I? To let him have anything as tasty as... erm... something tasty... would be a crime against nature itself! No, it must only be for me! And maybe you too, since I have no idea what I'm supposed to be stealing and eating. Until I steal your share, of course.>
Forlirn slowly turned his head about, gazing upon the broken city, his expression a mixture of apprehension and melancholy. He was silent for several minutes, allowing the others to take in the sight of the ruined city before speaking in a low voice, turning his head toward what may have once been the heart of the city.
"...It is there where the feeling is strongest... I ventured only partly there, so I know not what lies beyond."
Despite the silence of the secluded cavern, a sense of whispering filled the air, heard not by the ears but with the mind. There was no sense to the whisperings... only a feeling of pleading and madness.
In the lands above the depths of the ruins, the sun was slowly setting beneath the horizon. Dusk had made its arrival.

"Then let us find out what lies beyond together. For that is the reason we came to this place yes? Let us just hope that whatever does lie beyond is of help to us and our cause." Rhen whispered back.
Rhen did not take note of it before but now he could swear that he heard whispering. At first Rhen thought it to be the mad rambling voices he had heard on the day his infection by the void first began to show physical signs but then remembered that they were on Nueva and not Elune. This frightened Rhen somewhat as he began to think that this place defied the law that on Nueva magics would not work. But as Rhen tried to ponder it it began to not make much sense. So for the time being Rhen tried to push the thoughts aside and ignore the voices that invaded his mind in this dark place beneath the frozen tundra of Nueva.

<I think you would like it Caelidorus. It is basically a treat that we Neuvians developed to have during hot periods of the year. You can have it in any flavour from chocolate to, well, just about anything you can imagine. Either way, I am truly the luckiest human in all of Neuva. I am friends with a dragon who constantly threatens to eat me, ruin my life in some way, and steal my stuff. I couldn't have done any better if I tried. Finding someone who respects me and my items.... that's impossible.>
Matt noticed that as he was telepathically thinking, there was some sort of strange thinking that could be heard. He could hear Caelidorus better then the mysterious whispering, but it was definetly something that was occuring in his mind. Although he was tempted to say something about it to the others, he decided not too out of fear that he was the only one who was experiencing the whispering. Were that the case, Forlirn would likely demand that he leave out of fear that the ruins were getting to him.
"Rhen is right. We need to get going before the ruins begin to get to us. You lead Forlirn, since you do know this place better than any of us. Frilarth, I think you should watch our backs for anything that may be trying to sneak around us." Matt said.

Forlirn nodded lightly, wincing at the sound of a distance shriek before lowering his head near the ground and slowly making his way through the wreckage of the fallen city, glancing around every few moments to make certain the path forward was clear. "...Most of the lower buildings still seem to stand... the path should be mostly clear..."
<Hm... so if I eat you while you have your stuff with you, have I succeeded with all at once? I think you'd consider ending up in the belly of a dragon to be somehow ruinous to your life, and if your items ended up in my stomach, I'm pretty sure that'd make them mine. And what kind of friend would I be if I didn't threaten you constantly, eh?>
"I'll do that..." Frilarth said quietly, looking back toward the entrance they had journeyed through. The usually chatty dragon was incredibly silent. He was apparently well aware of the dangers he would likely soon face.

Matt began walking, dropping behind so that he was walking beside Caelidorus. For some reason, walking beside the green dragon gave him greater comfort, though he knew that it would not increase his odds of survival should whatever lived in the ruins decide to attack. When he heard the distant shriek, he attempted to locate the source of the terrible noise with his beam. "What the hell was that?" He muttered. "Could there be other people in here?"
<That may manage to fullfill all of those conditions at once, but you will never have a chance to do so. For you see, I have plans to ensure such a thing never occurs. For example, I could feed you so much food that you would be too full to do anything, giving me a chance to escape. That's only one thing I could do. I won't tell you everything because I don't want for you to have time to prepare for my plans. And what a friend you are! It's not like you could... oh I don't know, compliment me or be nice. Things like that are unacceptable!>
Eventually David and Anne reached the palace. Davids mother was waiting for them outside. "Oh look at you two." She began. "I was about to send the city watch out to look at you! Tonights feast is about to begin, yet you two were out roaming the city without a proper guard!" "With all due respect ma'am, we had several soldiers escorting us." Anne replied. "Several soldiers are not enough to stop a determined assassination attempt Anne. And in a city like this, I would not be surprised if half the population were in on some sort of assassination plan." Duchess Almorga replied. "Mother please, we are fine!" David said. "And I thank the Gods for that! Now, both of you should go to your rooms and get dressed for the feast. You surely are not think of attending the feast in those clothes are you!" "Yes Mother." David replied.
David and Anne then walked into the castle where a waiting servant took them to their quarters.

~What was that? I have the feeling that something is going on here that we cannot yet see. This disturbs me greatly. I do not like being in places where I do not know what is going on. It makes me uneasy. I hope we can find what it is we came to find and get out. I don't like the feeling this place is giving me.~ thought Rhen as he walked along side Forlirn watching his surroundings calmly and with great vigilance.
By this point Rhen's arm had thawed enough to where he could make movements but they would be slow and slightly delayed. But Rhen did not care at this point, all he wanted to do now was get what they needed and get out. Rhen also had a slight headache from the whispering that echoed in his head from the voices that resonated from somewhere in the cavernous city.

Forlirn glanced back toward the others to make certain they still followed before slowly entering the broken shell of a building to circumvent a large pile of wreckage blocking the main road. This particular building looked much like a skyscraper from a surface city... or did. The top had toppled over, creating the obstruction on the road. Despite this, the lower floors looked to be perfectly in tact, a testament to the building skill of the lost civilization.
Shadows flitted about in the shadows of the grandeur city, seen only momentarily and out of the corners of ones eyes. The whispers seemed to grow in volume, gibbering and accusing, seeming to demand something from the unwelcome intruders. They hissed and shrieked and babbled incoherently, yet came from nowhere at all.
None of the dragons showed signs of hearing the whispers*
***;Ah, but how could gorging me to the point of immobility guarantee to be in your benefit? I could simply swallow you as you feed me these masses of food. Or quickly push you over and lay on you, pinning you for as long as I cannot move. And of course they're unacceptable! Don't you see Nrilgroth prancing about shouting our praises? Despicable, that is. Most despicable****;

As Matt entered the building, he couldn't help but go over to one of the walls and ran his hand over one of the elaborate carvings. "Such an amazing civilization. Our people could learn a thing or two from their builders. Were we to abandon our cities, they would be overgrown and fall apart within a century. It's been at least a millenium since there were people here, and this building looks like it could have been abandoned yesterday." Matt said. He returned to Caelidorus's side. As the whispers began to intensify, he found himself glancing around to try and locate a source for the whispers. They were so intense that he found it harder to focus. Thinking was becoming difficult, every thought having to force it's way through the intense whispering that filled his head**
***;Oh please, do you think I am foolish enough to be right beside you while you are feasting? Perhaps you thought I would spoon-feed you as well? No, I will not close enough for you to be able to strike without warning. Besides, you will be too distracted to even consider doing anything to be. By the way, I will be sure to steal some of your horde as I leave. It's my little way of saying thank you for everything. As for Nrilgroth, he is truly disgusting! How dare he compliment us and try to be nice! We can't allow that sort of behavior. He should be like us. We know that insulting one another and threatening to harm each other is the only way to do things****;
The whispers were beginning to interfer with the telepathic process. It was becoming difficult for Matt to 'hear' Caelidorus over the intense whispers that filled his head. Believing Caelidorus was hearing the whispers as well, Matt began communicating louder then usual with Caelidorus.
Elmsbourg was now a good distance away. As such, Litis decided to switch to his dragon form. Litis sighed and began flying towards the last known location of the Soulbound clan.
((Sorry for the lousy post. I can't focus lately.))

By this point Rhen actually began to think he was either finally slipping into madness like the other watchers that he had meet on his travels or that the infection by the void was stronger than what he originally thought when the volume of the voices intensified. Rhen wanted to cry out in what he thought was madness but he remembered where he was at and remembered what Forlirn had said about remaining as quiet as possible. But the voices were beginning to drive him mad Rhen was fighting back the urge to cry out that one could actually see it on his face as it contorted into expressions that would normally mingle with pain but in this case did not.
*Someone make them stop. I cannot take it. These voices tormenting me. I cannot hear my own self think.~ thought Rhen as best as he could to himself in order to clear some space in his mind to push the voices out.

"This city was built to withstand the ravages of time," Forlirn replied almost silently, keeping a watchful eye on the darkness within the structure. It somehow seemed... alive, untold numbers of hateful eyes glaring through unfathomable depths of roiling, writhing blackness, just waiting for an unsuspecting victim to turn his back and be swallowed up in the darkness. Yet were one to approach, one would find a normal-seeming stretch of ground... but would also discover the living darkness had replaced his former location. "Much longer it will stand... much longer..."
<Well how could you possible convince me to gorge myself without you even being present? That sounds like a pretty big flaw in your plan, since I don't exactly go about eating giant piles of food left laying out. And you can't really steal from a hoard that doesn't exist, now can you? And... should we really keep going on like this? Distraction could be fatal..****;
The whispers were unrelenting, refusing to grow silent without something from their victims. They growled and hissed, angered at the lack of whatever incomprehensible something they demanded. Searching for the whispers would be in vain, for they did not originate in the physical realm.
((Not a problem. I've not exactly been up to par myself.))
