"Very well Caelidorus. If you think it will help, go ahead and pay extra attention to me. I don't like it, but i'll do it if you think it will help. Do me a favour though. If this thing that comes over me should occur while we are in the ruins, can you try and figure out what was causing it? I would be in your debt if you did so." Matt said
"Well I guess it really does not matter now. What is done is done. There is nothing that can be done for him or anyone else that lived here. Lets keep travelling to the ruins so that you can get this place out of your mind." Matt replied.

"Of course," Caelidorus replied, nodding lightly. "With any luck, that'll be all the knowledge that is needed to prevent it from happening again. Which, needless to say, would be in our best interests. The thought of them being able to control any of us... well, it's not a good one, that's for certain."
"...True, true," Forlirn said, sighing again before resuming walking. "No changing the past, that much is certain. Seeing their bodies though... Well, it awakens old grievances and the like. Things I'd be better off not remembering..."

"Agreed. With the potentual of this occuring, there are any number of things they could do to us. As an example, they could have me attack you in your sleep when you are defenceless. No matter the result of that battle, it is still a bad thing. If you find anything, you could examine it in Elune, where I am sure you would find more information. Maybe you'll even find some potion or spell that could lift this curse of sorts." Matt said.
"That's understandable. You can try to deny it as much as you want, but seeing everyone you knew being massacred by some godlike beings would scar anyone for life. You're never going to forget this, and being here for long will just make your wounds worse." Matt replied.

"Just be glad this might be the last you see of this place for a while. Then you can begin to heal the wounds that those events caused you. As for me I do not have that luxury. I have two reminders that will remain with me forever and will constantly remind me of the events from my past. But I try not to dwell upon them. I have come to the positive terms that if it wasn't for that event I would not have been able to expand my knowledge as I have and meet such good friends. Although it is fine to remember the past.......one must not dwell on it. We must remember the past yet put it behind us and keep moving forward despite what pain the past may have caused us." said Rhen.

"That would certainly be a good idea," Caelidorus answered, nodding slightly. "These objects might not be magical, at least not of any sort I know anything about, but magic would probably be the best way of learning anything about them. Unless magic causes it to explode or something..."
"Time does not heal all wounds, I suppose," Forlirn said quietly, seeming to squint slightly as the passage merged with the natural stone of a cavern. "Half a millenium wasn't enough. I'll likely be dead before another half passes, so I doubt I have enough time to heal."
"I am not entirely without reminders," Forlirn replied, fingering the large scar that stretched across his face. Not as obvious, perhaps, but present nonetheless. Of course, focusing on pain does little. Better to watch the path than eye your footprints."

Name: Noah van Kirk
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: 5 feet, 11 inches tall, has a very defined face and long dark-brown hair. He is toned but not too muscular and has pale skin. He wears a plain jet-black hood over his head and a long-sleeved shirt and trousers of the same color, with brown boots that end just below his knee and a brown belt around his waist. The belt contains a few pouches and sheaths hanging from it, and another two sheaths are strapped to his back. He has a holster hanging from the belt on his right hip.
Magic: Noah's magic includes only that of fire. He has one attack, which is throwing a ball of solid flame that will remain intact until hitting a target. This attack is the only spell he can perform.
Personality: He does not talk much and is bothered by simple things that he finds unnecessary. He also tends to ignore rules that he does not believe are "fair."
History: Noah was born to an elderly couple in Elune and grew up there, but decided to move to Neuva when his parents died in a fire when he was 16. He had a generally normal childhood, and while his parents' death did make him sad, it did not change his attitude or upset him to too high a degree. He had lived in a small village in Elune before he moved, and traveled to Glariundem before switching worlds. Rather than paying for a house, he took shelter (and still lives) in an old, abandoned building on the city's outskirts.
Weaponry: Noah carries two long swords on the sheaths on his back and a steel broadsword on his left hip. Also on his belt are two small bone daggers and a small pistol.
Other: Sorry about the whole "orphan" thing, but I didn't really know what else to do with his parents. And once his parents are dead, I can't really make him suddenly rich, so I had to have him living poorly. I apologize because I know that on these forums, the "orphan who lives on the streets" archetype is horribly overused.

"Lets do that then. If we find something, we'll make a point to travel to Elune and use your magical abilities to try and figure it out. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever these people use is full of some sort of strange magic that can somehow be used in Neuva. Like I said, I would owe you big time if you did this." Matt said.
"No one should expect for you to fully recover from something like that. If you lived for another ten thousand years, I would still expect for this to be bothering you. The best you can do is just try and move on with your life while you avoid thinking about it. Other then that, there's not much you can do." Matt replied.

"I agree. The past is done and gone. There is nothing we can do to change it. All we can do is try our best to forget the past and look towards the future. Hopefully the future we find is bright and happy. From there only time will tell how much better the future will be in comparison to the past." said Rhen.
~But sometimes it takes longer that we wish to reach the future. Then the only thing that we can think upon is the past.~ thought Rhen to himself.

((Accepted. And you need not worry about hitting on what most would consider cliche in these forums. In all honesty, I've not looked beyond this thread for well over a year now, so I'm hardly familiar with the cliches. Being able to use proper grammar and create an acceptable bio is enough.
At the moment, most of our characters are located far in the northern wastes of Neuva. If you'd prefer to leave your character near Glaruindem, I could have an unused character bump into yours. I'd also like to note that the pace of this thread is quite slow. Due to my schedule, it can often take days to over a week for me to post.))
"Perhaps we ought to leave that part to Forlirn or Rhen," Caelidorus said, frowning thoughtfully. "I'm good at using magic, but understanding it... well, that's a different thing. All I know is it comes to me naturally. Which won't really help with dark artifacts and whatnot."
"The problem is finding a future to look toward," Forlirn said quietly, possibly more to himself than to others. "It can be... difficult... to look away from the past when there's little you see to look forward to. Knowing the past is simple... knowing the future cannot be done. The past often feels less risky..."

"So basically, you can use an extensive amount of magic, but if someone were to ask how or why it occurs, you would not be able to give an answer. Yeah, that won't really help us if we find anything. I suppose we can worry about that when and hopefully if we encounter anything. As harsh as it may sound, we need to find dangerous artifacts if we are to continue our war against Nrilgroth. Perhaps we should even go forward with such artifacts to the general public. I'm sure we can get some support if we do that." Matt said.
