<Well it's hardly worth bothering them over something trivial like that. Besides, it's possible that it just happened to be colder in Neuva on the day that you decided to cross over. Now, the only thing I would like to know about Neuva and Elune is why there are two worlds with the exact same geography and the exact same races inhabiting them. I suppose that just about everyone has thought about that at some point in their lives though. There are probably millions of theories about the worlds out there right now.>
"I don't know if you could catch me fast enough to prevent me from hitting the water. Gravity will make me fall rather quickly. If you did manage to catch me, then I suppose you could just land real quick on the other coast and let me climb back on you. All of this is provided we don't freeze to death before we finish crossing the strait however. This is miserable!" Matt replied.
((Thanks. Just to clarify. I'm thinking that the absolute limit of Matt's telekinesis would be a mind bolt that would be able to force an average sized human to the ground. Of course that would be very tiring so I wouldn't be able to very often. Also, I was thinking that during periods of extreme emotion the telekinetic abilities would both increase and also become uncontrollable. In other words, Matt would basically go into a frenzy, attacking all around. That's what I think I will stick to in regards to telekinetic abilities.))

As the winds buffeted the group as they flew, Rhen tightened his grip on Forlirn's neck spike and pulled his arm and legs in tighter to reduce the drag from the wind.
~Hopefully the wind will turn and work with us rather than against us. I want to get out of this wind and cold as fast as possible.~ thought Rhen as he clung tightly to Forlirn.

<Probably, but I really don't have a clue about it, or really even care. How the worlds might have come into existence has absolutely no impact on my role as Eye or any other part of my daily life, so there's really no need for me to think on it. I'd prefer to think on something that might both be useful and have a possibility of a real solution being found.>
"Hmph, I can dive faster than I've ever seen anything even move," Caelidorus said, frowning. "Except other Tempests, of course, but they're roughly the same. The only thing that would stop me would be a slow reaction time. Or maybe one of those metal weapons your kind use on this world, but I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be one beneath us."
"Hold on as best you can..." Forlirn grunted, evidently straining against the wind. "It will be a fair ten minutes minimum to cross... Realistically, twenty to thirty..."
((Very well. As long as I don't see anything questionable to them in the thread, I won't make any comments.))

<I agree that it has no real impact on our daily lives. I suppose you could say that I enjoy thinking about these sort of things when i'm bored. Helps pass the time when there is nothing else to do. The other thing I tend to think of is what the cause of the human-dragon war is. My theory was that you used to rule over us and we rebelled. Irregardless of how it may have started, I think that it may only end with one of our races going extinct. There is much hatred filling the hearts of both of our races.>
"I suppose I can't argue with that, considering I don't believe i've ever had to see you dive at a fast speed. But i'm curious about which metal weapons are were referring to. Our army have tanks which we use to fight on land, anti-air weapons which we use to blow things out of the sky, aircraft which we use to fight in the air, and warships which fight on the seas and the oceans. We still may run into a warship which could easily obliterate us. Though I think that is very unlikely." Matt replied with a note of pride in his voice.

"You don't have to worry about me. I am holding on for dear life as it is and I am not letting go until we land." Rhen shouted over the wind.
~Curse this wind and curse the cold. Why couldn't all this happen in the spring or summer when it is warmer..........That or when the weather is a bit better. But chances are it is always like this when you are this far north.~ thought Rhen.

<I really can't say much about it, since I'm not entirely familiar with current issues in Neuva. All I know is it's much different in Elune. Sure, there are certainly hostilities between humans and dragons, but it's hardly widespread enough to be everywhere. Neither race is united and quite often can't agree with itself, so how things operate is almost entirely regional rather than everywhere. Can't say I'm complaining about that, since it makes my job as the leader of a rather warlike clan much easier.>
"I'm talking about those devices that tried to kill me back when we crossed the border," Caelidorus said. "Probably tanks or anti-air weapons, based on your description. But could there really be a... warship? This hardly seems like the sort of place any sort of weaponry would be needed and I somehow get the impression that icy waters aren't quite the same as clear waters when it comes to sailing."
"Very well," Forlirn shouted in return, his head lowered to reduce drag. His time prediction turned out to be quite accurate; the shore was reached roughly twenty-three minutes after the crossing had began, as the lessening wind indicated. Whether or not it was a welcome sight however was debatable, for there was a small group of humans camped on the snow less than a mile from the water. They were lightly armed with what looked like sniper-rifles and shotguns, and, judging by the way they were waving theirs arms, they had noticed the group and wanted it to land.

<It's a lot different in Neuva. There are periods of time where pretty much no fighting is taking place, but often the army will get involved and launch an attack on a powerful dragon clan that they recently discovered. Basically, we are not always at war, but when we are, it is very bloody. I can't say that the humans of Neuva are united. We can rally behind a flag when something really big happens but we often fight each other just as often as we fight the dragons.>
"Those would be tanks. As I recall, there were not any anti-air guns. You're lucky about there were none. If there was an anti air weapon at the border, then you would have been blown apart. But to answer your question, it is possible there are warships in the strait. The warships are far too big to be impacted by the ice on the strait. While they probably are not in the strait at this moment, they would certainly use it if the captain of the ship felt it would help him in carrying out his orders. We're lucky we didn't run into any, because you would not be able to sink one of those ships. They are far too big and powerful." Matt replied.
"I say we land." Matt said, noticing the band of humans. "If they have sniper rifles, then they can easily kill Rhen and I. They have not attacked us yet, so I think we ought to avoid giving them a reason to do so."

"I agree with Matt but I say we be ready to defend ourselves just incase they try anything. We do not know their intentions so we best be on our guard." said Rhen. "But before we do land, Forlirn, do you sence anything from them that might indicate they want to only cause us harm?"
~If worst comes to worst they my have us checked for weapons and they might feel something amiss on my arm and find the taint. Depending on what they know things might go badly for us.~ thought Rhen.

<Ah. Well, I suppose that makes sense. I know we certainly are not in a perpetual war, though we often are warring... at least by dragon standards. I don't know how bloody our wars would be considered, but they are often quick and decisive, again by dragon standards. As far as alliances ago, I don't believe we've ever surpassed more than a nonaggression agreement.>
"I guess I'll just have to take your word for it," Caelidorus replied. "Since I haven't a clue what these warships look like or are capable of."
"I suppose we ought to..." Caelidorus said with a low growl, starting to descend. "I was under the impression that this place would be deserted..."
"I can't really tell..." Forlirn said quietly, descending as well. "They're dressed too heavily to read their body language and I can't quite read minds. What I do know is they have long ranged guns and we'd probably be best fighting them short ranged, so it would be in our best interests to close distance before we know their intentions."
Shortly after the dragons had landed, one of the few unarmed men approached, dressed in heavy-looking winter gear.
"Heading farther north?"

<Well how many people are killed in the war depends on the size of the clan. A small clan may cost us anywhere between ten and fifty casualities. Some of the largest clans may kill thousands of soldiers before they are finally taken down. But alliances are much more commen in Neuva then in Elune. At the same time, they are often very short. The general rule is a group of nations will rally behind a commen cause and then turn on one another when the cause has been fullfilled. That's probably the main reason why dragons are still pretty commen in Neuva.>
"I've learned to expect the unexpected Caelidorus. This place should be deserted so by all rights that will mean that we will certainly run into people while we were here." Matt replied.
"We are indeed. Is there anywhere else to go in these lands? Now that I have answered your question, do you care to tell us who you are and where you are heading?" Matt asked politely.
