"That's why we are always at the ready for an assault," Caelidorus said. "And that's why we've formed our empire as it currently is. At one side we have the sea, and we've not made any enemies in the sea, and at the other side, save Glaruindem, we have a range of mountains which are quite impractical to cross for warring purposes. We are weakest in the south, so that's where we are most fortified, though we are also fortified elsewhere..."
"Which is just what you would say if you lacked a plan entirely," Caelidorus chuckled. "You're really not making a strong case for this mysterious plan of yours."
"We should reach it before sundown," Forlirn said, frowning lightly. "Unless of course Frilarth's seabirds have moved much farther inland than they used to be. However, I believe we'd be best setting up for the night before crossing over. The winds above the straight are wickedly cold, and the night air won't help warm them. It might take slightly longer, but we'll be better off in the long run."
