Augmentation implants are as follows:-

- Level 1 (L1): The very basic form that allows a small amount of control over electricity. This is used strictly to augment technology in small ways – usually medics take this one, as it allows for boosting and augmenting their tools when working on patients.
- Level 2 (L2): An intermediate form of implant that allows for a little greater use over electricity. Experienced medics and engineer types tend to use this for their work.
- Level 3 (L3): The very basic form that allows for electricity to be used in combat. This is usually to help augment weapons and allows for some small but dangerous electrical attacks towards other beings. Can also be used to power automatons. This is something the standard soldier can probably achieve.
- Level 4 (L4): A strong electricity user who can use their implants to channel serious displays of electricity against others – anything from temporarily shutting down systems and machines to using pure electricity against living beings. These are heavily regulated, and you are expected to hold certification for using your L4 implant. These are generally only used by commanding officers. The standard soldier is unlikely to have one.
- Level 5 (L5): Very rare, these are for the strongest users. Think electrical storms, shutting down entire areas powered by electricity, etc. These are only assigned to the most elite soldiers, and require so much certification most soldiers never bother trying to earn it. It also requires a rarer form of genetics than most implants, making it even harder to get one. (Players may not use this unless character development allows for it with permission from me.)

Although all augmentation implants are meant to be strictly regulated, some always fall through the cracks to be developed in the Alpha Base system, creating implants that – more often than not – are imperfect and are usually very dangerous to use. Death is a common occurrence. The highest level that these usually reach is L4.

If you choose to play a technopath, please be aware of the limits of the implant you choose and unless agreed upon beforehand with me, it is incredibly unlikely that you will have an implant beyond L3. Consider your role carefully and if an implant would work with it.

Weapons and Technology

The following are examples of items that your characters may possess. You are not limited to these specific items and may come up with items of your own. However, again let's not make something stupid, like a rocket launcher.

Electroblade: A simple sword with a small power supply in the hilt, which runs an electric current through the blade, causing a slight humming vibration and a lot of pain to whoever it connects with.

Electro Stave: A stave that can open out to three, four, five and six feet, with a button on the edge of the hilt of the staff to lock it in place. At each end is a ball of pure electricity kind of like a taser in between two sharp pins.

Stun rod: Self-explanatory really. A small metallic stick of about two feet in length, which stuns. If any part of you is hit by the rod, it goes numb. If struck on the head, the target usually loses consciousness.

Blaster pistol: A pistol that fires small bursts of lasers. A relatively light weapon with a slower firing rate than the assault rifle, but deadly with good accuracy.

Assault rifle: A two handed gun that fires lasers at a normal rate.

Stun gun: A small gun much like the blaster pistol but fires small bursts of electricity that can stun the target. Kind of like the stun rod but ranged.

Crossbow: A modified version of its ancestor, the crossbow is equipped to fire lasers, but can also fire specially modified bolts that can be the equivalent of a stun rod.

Wrist Computer

All characters are equipped with a wrist computer, which comes in three basic types depending on your role. It is a small band worn on the wrist, which can bring up a light display of a small basic computer programmed to help with your role.

For medics: Your wrist computer is designed to scan biological forms and make a diagnosis based on information gleaned from the scan. It can also be used to search specific types of treatments and – if necessary – find where certain procedures can be carried out if not on the ship.

For engineer types: Your wrist computer can bring up schematics for various types of machinery and vehicles, equipped with a scanner that can trace issues in the machinery, making it much easier to narrow down where the repairs need to take place. Also possible to add a program that enables engineers to hack into certain files and open locked energy doors.

For basic combatants: Your wrist computer can bring up maps in 3D, allowing for better strategy. It also comes with a search function that allows the wearer to search basic things like weaponry and public profiles.

All wrist computers come with a comm link function, which can be tuned into private or public channels. It is harder to get into private channels you are not authorised to reach, but an engineer can manage this with the right skillset.

If you have a particular idea for a character and you’re not sure how about how the weaponry works for said character, feel free to ask – I’m certain we can work things out.)

Skills: (What is your character good at? Try to keep it limited to two or three. Characters with massive skillsets are boring and have no real room for development. Examples are: Cooking, automaton repair, flying, tailoring, etc.)

Job: (If you’re part of the Autumn Star crew, you are expected to pull your weight. Some jobs include ship’s medic, technician (of various types), engineers, etc. Feel free to think up your own!)

Appearance: Jaeden might have once appeared fragile and pretty. But the last few years have been harsh, hardening her. Her once carefully clipped back hair now hangs just a little past her shoulders in rough layers of vibrant coppery red, usually partially pulled back with a scrunchie of sorts. Her face – once heart-shaped with plump cheeks – now gaunt, her high cheekbones standing out above her hollow cheeks. Her doe-like blue eyes framed with long, thick, black eyelashes once filled with hope and mischief now icy, with soft purple shadows standing out underneath, made all the clearer next to her pale skin. A scar runs diagonally across her face – starting from above her right eyebrow and slashing down to the right side of her jaw.

Standing at a slightly shorter than average height of 5’7”, she has worked on building up muscle. Nothing can truly hide the once delicate-looking frame, but the muscles show for themselves along her arms, legs, stomach and back. Scars litter her form, some small and shallow, others not so much. A tattoo might occasionally be seen – that of the Autumn Star insignia being crushed by vines covered in thorns – coiling up her right thigh.

Normal clothing: Jaeden likes her outfit to be simple. A pair of black combat trousers and a button-down tanktop with the first few buttons undone. Black combat boots cover her feet, laced up tight. Her wrist computer is clear to see on her left wrist, whilst a belt slung low around her hips keeps her blaster pistol and her short sword close to hand. If she wants to fancy it up a little, she still has her old Captain’s jacket of black trimmed with orange piping, shaped shoulders and the Autumn Star insignia emblazoned across the left side of the chest.

Armour: Simple is best, and on this occasion, Jaeden still has her old set of armour mostly intact. Thin, flexible plating covers most of her body, with extra plating over her chest, stomach, sides, thighs and calves, as well as her upper arms. The flexiplating itself is black, whilst the thicker plating is more of a burnished dark bronze, with some orange lights on the back. She has a helmet with an orange visor to cover the face to match with it. It is of a dense black metal material with some shielding built into it – though the metal is dented and scarred in places and could really use a fresh clean.

Weapons: Blaster pistol, short electro-blade.

Skills: Flying, hand-to-hand combat, basic sewing.

Job: Captain. Boss. The Big Cheese.

Short history: Jaeden Castell was fresh on the battle scene as the Captain of the Autumn Star. It was thanks to her parents pulling some strings that such a young soldier could take command of a ship just like that, so there was a lot of doubt cast on her abilities. After a few unsettling starts, a lot of dumb luck and the continuous support and knowledge of her crew, she became a strong and confident, bright-eyed Captain who led the charge against the Ghiak Feith, and blasted the head of Narchon herself.

However, with the war over and the manner in which she and her crew were forced to turn to a criminal life, she became a colder, more hardened Captain, caring only about keeping her crew alive and getting the next paycheck.
