Annie followed Siera out of the local bar. They came back to the bed and breakfast was where the rest of the group was. They got to the room where they were in and saw a new person was in there. She went to Etheldredda and told her in a low voice so the stranger can't hear what Siera and her had learned. She asked as she pointed at the stranger in a louder voice",who is that?" She was ready to fight to protect the group if needed too. -Dances-

The Empire’s Scout

Most of the newcomers were still discussing everything amongst themselves, and although Kat’* excellent hearing allowed her to make out everything said she did not interject. It seemed they were leaning towards assisting the war effort, and it was more likely that eavesdropping and then proving that she was eavesdropping would hurt that decision rather than help it. She wasn’t going to beg them to stay if they decided not to, but a group of adventurers was almost always a help in a situation like this. That was something she had learned from experience, being in the shoes of both sides at various points in her life.

One of them, however, had turned to face her, appearing to listen to the report she was giving to the Decan. She had heard them mention that they had come across a demon, and given her report in front of them so that she could hear their opinions on the subject, but ti seemed they were more interested in deciding whether or not they actually wanted to join the cause. The one who was appearing to pay attention did weigh in, but only just, and not giving much more than she had already considered herself. The sheer amount of blood was more than she had seen dozens of men lose and die as a result, but how it could just have that much was the mystery to her.

She did not respond to him immediately, however, as the Decan seemed displeased by his comment. That was an expected response, but not one Kat had been hoping for. The intervention had not been asked for, and she knew that was enough of a reason to be displeased with it, but anything that should be said shouldn’t need to wait. The Captain of a ship always had the final say, but any good one would entertain the notions of the crew as well.

Understood ma’am.
” Kat replied, giving a somewhat sloppy salute. She still wasn’t in the habit of doing that, since it never really mattered on a ship.

There were so many more formalities in the military than there had been on the ships that she had been at the helm of, and it took some getting used to.

Still, if they were heading out as soon as possible, that meant this group of adventurers had only tonight to figure out what they were going to do. Whatever it was did*’t change Kat’s plans at all; she was going to hunt down the demon and remove it from the world. Like Karstone - who she could see was skeptical by the way he was looking at the Decan - she doubted it would be as simple as simply finding and killing the creature, but there wasn’t any way to know that for sure until they attempted it.

Although she had resolved to remain out of the conversation, that was changed when the girl who had wanted to stay away from the entire thing came up and asked if the older adventurer that had decided to listen was going to blindly stumble into the war. Maybe it was pride, since keeping the soldiers from stumbling blindly around was her job, but that annoyed Kat, and she felt the need to comment on it.

The only people stumbling blindly are the ones that don’t listen.
” she said, turning to face the pair. “
There’s enough information available that you should be able to make a reasonable decision either way.

The credibility of her statement might be somewhat compromised - at least in the eyes of those she was talking to - simply because it was probably obvious that she was a scout, but she believed that what she was saying was actually the truth. Maybe the Decan might as them to devote themselves to the cause without knowing too much, but she would be happy to provide them with whatever information she had to help their decision. Giving information to soldiers was her job right now, after all.

Hamstead B&B (Did they have these in Medieval times...?)

Conleth was relieved to see that other members of the party were coming back. the birds with them circled around him a little before landing on his shoulder. He scratched a couple of them affectionately behind the head. Perhaps he should have explained earlier what they were for.

Either way, there was another matter to be dealt with, whether this new arrival would stay or not.

"I have to vote that he stays really, it would be a tad hypocritical not to." He was about to mention that even if he was not to be trusted this would let them keep an eye on him, but he kept that thought to himself to avoid further tension.

Of course, things only got stranger as the door was once again slammed open, this time knocking Joric out. Hopefully this wasn't going to become a recurring theme.

As he hurried over to where the unconscious dwarf was, in case his help was needed (spoiler, it wasn't), he saw yet another stranger enter the room, although this one seemed very different for a lot of reasons.

Since every situation he'd been in since yesterday had become progressively more bizarre, he decided to just stand back and observe. He was getting used to it now.

Kuro

Kuro moved over to Joric, but not until after he had woken back up. Seeing his there were already Siera seeing to see if Joric was ok, and not want to crowd the dwarf more then he is. Kuro noticed the pun made by Joric he fought back a chuckle as he did find it amusing.

"Well this sort of reminds me of a joke I heard, instead of walking into a bar, its a door walking into a dwarf." Kuro's horrible attempt as humor as he wasn't one to make jokes, he figured it wouldn't be bad to just try.

Ryokin

The demon, known for disappearing and reappearing at the strangest and most unlikely places, has done so yet again.

Sitting on a roof watching the site upon him. A ship appearing and the chaos of destruction that has been caused. At place with so much destruction is a perfect place for Ryokin to be. He sat there just watching he then notices Captain Black and the fire starter dealing with a man who slain Azul.

He laughs and leaps off the house not hiding his presence, he seemingly enjoying what is going on but tired of sitting out. "My, my what do we have here. The Pyromistress, and John Black. Fighting a single wizard, the man that has slain the very demon. Saving myself the time of doing it myself."

Taking a small bow not caring who is around, "I am Ryokin lord of the crossroads, soon to be King of all demons" Ryokin shamelessly boasting his eyes glow slightly red as he finishes introducing himself.

He then grins, then speaks again, "I love what you did to the place, my dear Captain, you know how to create so much entertainment, the only thing is missing is a burning orphanage of screaming children. I'm sure the Pyromistress here could fix that if she wanted to."

Ryokin then looks at Cirion, "Now what to do with him, I doubt I could convince him to sell me his soul, but maybe if you cant make him hurt enough he will." Ryokin seemingly not caring for what Cirion might think right now.
and nothing was spoiled :P

Hamstead

"We're in Hamstead; the guildmaster's left," Etheldredda briefly surmised for the once out-of-action Kuro, still regarding the newly arrived mage with suspicion. Etheldredda wasn't sure if Kuro was aware that the beast they had been fighting had managed to escape them, and even if he didn't know Etheldredda was not willing to bring the matter up. Duped by a river troll! If she couldn't organise the group to fight off a few brigands and a beast, how on earth was she going to be able to lead an assault on the largest hag coven in living memory?

As Joric went to work on the lock, Etheldredda prowled around the inn, closing the shutters so as to hide the 'stranger company among us' as the dwarf referred to their group. The hagspawn supposed she couldn't argue with that verdict, but she hoped that the bringing together of various skillsets will work to their advantage in the oncoming battle, even if the warriors in question were a tad out of the ordinary.

Rovaan began to come back from his lupine slumber- and of course he could talk whilst still being a wolf- and gave the advice that allowing the so-called 'time mage' to accompany them would mean that they could keep an eye on him. Etheldredda certainly didn't like Tempora Sage's very timely appearance or his attitude, but she felt that she would trust him a great deal less if he was out-of-sight. The hagspawn was hardly certain if she could trust anyone in this group overly much though, except Annie who she had adventured with prior to this, and somehow Etheldredda didn't think she could rely on a ten year old to keep an eye on every single member of their party.

Etheldredda briefly considered that she might just be paranoid, and the answer to that was most certainly yes. But what she had been put through- enslavement by her own family, persecution by the outside world... She felt she had every right to be paranoid.

Before Joric's tinkering was complete, in entered Annie and Siera, followed almost immediately by Judy and Zed ((sorry Venom,)). With the group as a whole now returned to the inn, it seemed that now they would be able to get that night's sleep that they so sorely needed, and that they could decide upon the fate of the wayward wizard that had wandered into the abode.

Tempora Sage, the ancient, staff-wielding sorcerer who had intruded upon the property and was supposedly recommended by Monsieur Federico, was staring with great interest towards Annie and Siera, though which one he was interested in, Etheldredda could not tell. She noted though that the elderly man's face was wrought with a frown that was exaggerated by his wrinkled features, shaking his head in either disgust or, just perhaps, wonderment.

As Annie came over to discuss all that she had learnt- it seemed that Soahc the Deceiver was moving about the country, and the girl had managed to get a great deal of intel specifically about Tempora Sage the Time Mage, who now so coincidentally was sat in front of their fire. Was he some local legend? Or was there something more sinister afoot?

Sadly Etheldredda had no time to ponder this thought further as Joric, who had assumed the door would not be opened anymore and therefore let his guard down somewhat, was KOed as a heaving behemoth entered into the room. Once again Etheldredda's hand fell towards her mace, but she had barely gripped the handle before she realised who she was faced with and shook her head knowingly.

"Finally taking me up on that Gorebucks offer?" She joked- a rare expression of true emotion which would reveal to the rest the trust that the hagspawn displayed in the newest entrant. The last they had spoken was at the end of the world- (in fact, the last two times they had departed was at world-ending occasions,) back before Etheldredda's face had been scarred beyond repair, before she had forged the grotesque mask of the Hagfather which now defined her features.

"I should've known you would be here, cBr'nard," Etheldredda said as she walked up to greet her mentor and friend. The first time they had met, Etheldredda had only recently escaped the coven, wandering from village to village without any purpose in life****'nard Even'star had managed to put her on a path which she had been following ever since, it was only fitting that he should reappear when she made her return home.

Now that she considered it, Etheldredda found it passing odd that she had gathered the group she had. cBr'nard and Annie and Siera and Judy had all been there in Messia in the fight against the Dread Lord, and Annie and Siera knew Joric and Rovaan and Kuro and Zed from Copperdale, where an Elder Demon had sought to open a portal to Hell- which is how Etheldredda and Br'nard had met in the first place too. Were these people skilled at finding trouble, or were the hands of fate steering them towards an unknown end? The coincidence was too startling, and that made Etheldredda consider that she was might be getting herself into a similar catastrophe...

It was Annie's questioning of who the stranger in the room was that brought Etheldredda out of her ruminations. It was the stranger himself who answered the girl, rising laboriously from his chair, leaning heavily upon his gnarled staff as his robes fluttered about him.

"My name, child, is Tempora Sage," said the old man, in that ferocious voice that didn't quite fit with his apparent frailness. He was giving Br'na** the same look he had sent towards Siera or Annie earlier, a look which implied he was seeing something that Etheldredda could not. "A letter from Abraxus Richardson informed me of you, Annie 'the Abolisher', and that posturing fool Federico secured my invitation to this group. I am here to tutor you in the ways of magic, if you would have me."

"Not that there's a choice," Etheldredda responded, as almost all in the room had already given their consent to the old man's inclusion and therefore she thought little of bringing the matter up again- besides, he seemed to know too much about them for the hagspawn to allow him to wander off. She just hoped that Monsieur Federico picked his friends better than he picked his clothes.

Turning back to Br'nard, Etheldredda decided to fill him in as briefly as possible. As much as she would want a catch-up, her mission took priority, and their having to linger on just inflamed her bloodlust.

"We're heading for the hag coven," she told him, knowing he would realise she meant the one in which she had been brought up. "They're trying to summon the Hagfather, and I've got a score to settle."

Etheldredda imagined the prospect of coming face-to-face with the Hagfather would be enough to convince the barbarian to join their cause. His presence certainly made her more comfortable, especially when surrounded by so many strangers. But the time for pleasantries was later.

"We sleep here tonight, and leave by boat at first light." And that was all the hagspawn said, before marching over to a chair and plonking herself down, apparently unconcerned about checking upstairs for a bed.

"Who wants first watch?"

Espionage Never Mind

Soahc emerged from his tower whistling, with a newspaper under the arm and his magically-conjured beard stained with blood and intestinal fluid. The tower's magical defences had been triggered, the demigod couldn't help but notice, which meant someone in his elite taskforce had made a tremendous mistake. Although he had yet to see first hand the abilities of Brodus, Sileo Umbra and Ryokin, he wasn't certain if they were to blame- Kira certainly liked her theatrics, and Soahc couldn't quite get a read on AchUbaid the Undying.

Ahead were two warriors, paladins by the looks of things, hired out to defend the already outrageously over fortified town from the Demigod of Chaos. One nudged the other at Soahc's approach, seemingly so holy as to see through the Father of Evil's shapeshifted disguise. Pointing out, he said, "Look, look, it's-"

"Yes, yes, I know," said Soahc with a hand wave, grinning all the while at this warm reception.

"No you idiot, look! " Responded the paladin, and Soahc stopped still, baffled at being addressed as such and even more confused that he was not the cause of this anguish. With a frown he turned to see what the fuss was about, and split into an ear-to-ear stretching leer. Heading towards the town was a floating half-ship, flying a Jolly Rodger and plummeting quickly towards the earth.

Soahc laughed aloud, and rummaged in a pocket to pull out a coin. He flipped it, caught it, smacked it on the back of his hand and looked: facing up was a grinning skull, and in that skull was a single eye.

The cackling of the demigod continued as the ship smashed through the walls, careened through the streets, scraped between the houses and crashed into the town centre, his journey onwards now completely undisturbed as every armed person in the town headed for the source of the chaos...
