Although she made no response to the arguments going on in the adventuring party, she could hear them perfectly well. None of the members seemed to want the same thing, and only two of them sounded like they actually wanted to help the Empire here. The others looked as uninterested as Mugwo when intelligent conversation was made within several thousand feet, and that wasn’t good. While Kat could follow this on Faith alone, trying to convince someone who had none using only it would yield nothing.
Some would say that it was better if such people did not become involved in affairs that they had no business in, but Kat wasn’t sure she agreed with that. Even if they did not have the fervor that those devoted to the cause possessed, another sword raised at the enemy was one more that they would have to cut down before they had won. There was always more strength in greater numbers, and unless they switched sides in the middle of a fight it would always be more beneficial to have them than it would be to turn them away.
For the moment, she remained silent, her eyes on the Decan in case there was something else that would be requested of her. Kat might not have ever been a soldier, but she did know how professionalism worked. The deck of a ship was more professional than an army, at least from her experience, and if the one in command was talking to you then you did not shift your attention from them.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
