Conleth Folius, meanwhile, might just be starting to comprehend that he had jumped in on the situation at what might have been the worst possible moment...

Onslaught of Oakfoot- Soahc

"I have the honourless knight's honour?" Soahc laughed long and loud at that. "A sacred vow, no less! I promise there will be no shortage of fun on this journey- on mine own sacred blood!" There was a crash of thunder somewhere off in the distance, as though the heavens above were revolting at the idea of Soahc's blood being sacred, or perhaps some other, higher power was watching them even now and giving warning. Soahc just rolled his eyes at that.

"Play nice, Kira," Soahc told his pyromistress, replicating her predatory smile perfectly and wagging a finger of mock-disapproval at her conduct with Brodus. "I hatch schemes better than a chicken hatches eggs. "You've got your part to play in it, of course, as has everyone else. Brodus here will simply add to the scheme's effectiveness, as will my other new finds. I've lived a thousand life times, but I do believe I've outdone myself this time!"

Soahc turned towards the now-approaching Ubaid, wrapped up in his Sunday best, as gaunt as the grave from which his spirit had risen. With Ubaid marched the dead, and alongside them his favourite pets, the Twins. Soahc was wise enough not to roll his eyes at the ghost's comments.

"I was unaware of any soul-drinking," the demigod said defensively. "And I'm deeply sorry if I've caused offense. There are many miles between here and our goal, and plenty more bodies to harvest. I was hoping that the infighting would make my father dismiss this merry band as one of my less fruitful ventures, but it seems the Lord of Order was not fooled." He nodded towards a storm cloud that was heading in from the east.

"Commoners say the gods are all-seeing, all-knowing," Soahc remarked amicably. "Shall we put that theory to the test?"

Onslaught of Oakfoot

"I look withered, but I'm not so old as you," Sylvi explained to Ryokin. "Hags seen ancient, for we are born old. But truthfully I've yet to see three-hundred years. I admit I was spying, or better yet, had one of my half-cast daughters to spy on my behalf. No doubt one of Ethyl's own is listening in on us, and my other sisters' besides."

The plump hag stepped over a body without sparing it a second glance, and continued. "Soahc, who us hags call Bloodgift, his brain's half-boiled. My sister will be boiled by the end of it too, then no one will be able to call her cold. " Her laugh was half a snarl, and filled with outrageous snorts like she wished to force as much phlegm down her throat as possible.

"The ghost seems the true threat to me, and make no mistake," she continued- it was clear that Sylvi enjoyed the sound of her own voice. "The rest are just upjumped mortals. But not you, oh no, you're much more than that, hmm? I do believe we'll have a great bit of dealing to do, but not just now. This town's done, Bloodgift will be wanting us back to fawn over how amazing random he is, as though there's no method to his madness." She hrmphed to show what she thought of that, before steering Ryokin rightwards.

Ahead they could see Soahc, with Kira the pyromancer and Brodus the knight and Ubaid the mummified soul. The undead masses of the necromancer were being joined by the living, the mercenaries and pirates and sellswords hounded together by Raspur Cain and his snapping whip, the Cult of Soahc in a disjointed circle, curious where their leader had gotten to.

None of the other hags were accounted for, though.

Onslaught of Oakfoot- Sileo

Kristov either did not hear or chose not to heed Sileo's advice, instead dooming himself to a quick death, drowning in his own blood. The Shrouded Elf began to rise, blood dripping from his shoulder but otherwise fine. With his body rose his hands, as though he was about to cast another spell-

And a spear came crashing through his heart, felling the mercenary in an instant.

"Walk it off!" Repeated an old crone, laughing hysterically. Standing with the crone was Cold Ethyl, dressed in purples and greens, fingers covered in rings and neck choked with necklaces, dresses and overdresses highlighted with various feathers, who looked less amused at the comment. She had crept up on the scene- as creeping was a natural ability of the hags, and with her came a portion of her children, those who were born from Ethyl forcing herself upon the slaves captured by the Coven.

One was taller than six feet, in their thirties, with brown hair pulled back in a tight ponytail; the spear thrower. Another was about sixteen, with blonde hair and a loaded crossbow, her pointed ears betraying her as half-elf. The old crone wielded no weapon and was garbed similarly to Ethyl, though definitely less extravagant- a student in the hags' particular brand of magic. They were all different ages and sizes, from different fathers and some from different species, but all were children of Ethyl, or grandchildren, or even great-grandchildren. And all of them were female.

"At least this one has more merit than the last," remarked Ethyl, looking Sileo up and down with mild distaste. "He would sire desirable hagspawn, Thylis." The old crone, presumedly Thylis, batted her eyelashes at Sileo and shook her bodice enticingly- she had to be in her seventies.

"Soahc wants us back," said another daughter, this one nearing fifty, leading two blood-thirsty hounds.

"Yes, back," agreed Ethyl. "Run back to your master, now."

The Plucky Hecatonchire

"There's ogres up north," Rickard confided in Desmo, as they eavesdropped on the conversation of the adventurers- who were now leaving the tavern entirely to start on their journey. "They've turned into a mighty big army, or two armies, depending on who you ask. They're either killing each other or getting ready to kill us, no one's too sure. But it ain't anything good, that's for certain."

Smiling broadly at his young friend, Rickard added, "It would take a brave warrior to deal with this threat."

---

Karstone Greatjohn frogmarched the group out of the tavern, with Alania Clarke and the others following in the old man's wake. Outside the ground was uncertain, muddy and slippery from the rain in the night. Karstone's boots sloshed across the earth whilst Alania splattered her shiny armour in a puddle, but neither thought to complain.

"Well, there's our way," Karstone said, gesturing northwards, away from civilisation and normality, towards the wilderlands of the north. " The Road North! " He announced, and thus their journey began.

It was a miserable day and a miserable walk. The road north soon gave way to nothingness, as no one had ever cared to make pathways that went deep into the hills- or at least, no one had ever succeeded in building one. It was said that the rolling hills of the north were as numerous as the ogre clans which inhabited them. Sadly, the hills hadn't followed the ogres' lead and united into two large hills, so their journey was slow going. Up and down they went, being turned this way and that by cliff-faces and over-hanging valleys.

"What foes are we like to see on the road?" Asked Alania of Karstone, ever eager for a brawl.

"Moun'ain cats an' red wolves," Karstone responded glumly. "Hill tribes an' other barbarians. They say ogres raise bears like we raise dogs, though Ah've neva seen a bear afore in Engelain."

"I've heard there are giant eagles that could snatch men off mountains," Alania said in wonderment. "And that there are giants here, true giants, the ones created at the dawn of time by Tyrrus above. And spiders as big as hounds, and-"

"Hogwash," Karstone responded, spitting. "All fairytales to keep yer yap shut when yah were a wee lass. Our true foe out 'ere'll be other men. Profiteering off o' the ogre wars. The Tyrannian Empire's sent troops this way, an' make no mistake more'll be on their way."

Alania seemed rather put out at that. "Humans aren't as exciting a fight as spider-hounds."

"No, but a tad more realistic," Karstone said back, quickly tiring of the conversation and turning instead to the others who were joining them- Alicia, Henry, Balmor and his boar and silent Sir Charles, in the hopes that any one of them would give him less grating conversation.

"In truth Ah've not been this way before, Ah'm trav'lling blind 'ere. There's little an' less food about, from what Ah can tell. Do any of yah know how to forage? To hunt? All well and good looking for some action when we all die o' starvation beforehand. Har!" He threw his head back to laugh.

((Okay, so I have three apologies to make.

First and foremost, I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to post. As always, my life is a magnet for tragedy, but most of that is water under the bridge now.

Secondly, I'm sorry that the Ogre Wars storyline has been moving slower than the others, I promise this is the first thing I will sort out in my next post.

Finally, I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to post for another week. In eight hours I'll be going on holiday to a place with zero internet connection. If by some miracle there is a place with WiFi I will come on and contribute as best as I can, but I must say that the chances are slim.

I thank you all for understanding, and hope you don't utterly destroy my thread in retribution for my absence, haha.))

Annie was shock that the troll brush of its wrist, the grass around the her and began to grow, weaving into a net which tangled her by grabbing her arms, legs, sword, the shield on her back, was pull her into the earth and down into the pits of hell itself. But she wasn't going down with a fight. She wiggled out of the grass net and freed her sword hand. So she cut the rest of the net around her off. She rolled out of the way so she didn't get hit. She shot spider webs at the troll hoping to try to tie him up. She asked the troll," what do you mean bring birdsman blood to the birdmen, set fire to the flame, keep a priest with the unholy and be a part of his game?"

Judy saw what was going what was going on. She pulled The guild master away from danger so they both don't get hit by the arrows and trolls arm. Then shot arrows ar the troll hoping to hit it to help the group.

Things had gone from bad to worse. His arrow had hit its mark and did its job. But things fell apart from there. The troll was enraged now and archers were firing arrow from the tree-line. To top it all off it looked like there were boats coming there way loaded down with brigands. Things were escalating fast and they weren't getting any better as the troll pulled the river from its banks and sent it crashing a roaring towards the small group.

The slight burning from the gauntlet on Rovaan's arm now felt as if it was going to burn right through his arm as the danger approached. Not wanting to give into the sensation, Rovaan shouldered his bow and drew his great war blade. Walking slowly towards the oncoming wave of water Rovaan chanted. Rovaan's appearance changed as he chanted. His features changed to that which had been the visage of terror from the battle with the Hamstead army.

Now, burning with what seemed to be the fire of hell itself, stood once more a creature neither man nor wolf, nor demon but a combination of all three. In his hand a burning firebrand of a sword. From his back a set of burning wings and from his head a set of horns that would make a demon envious. With a mighty roar, Rovaan lifted his sword over his head and plunged it into the ground. The ground split apart creating a small chasm in the earth, and from this, a wall of fire grew. Rovaan had the hope it would be enough to stem the tide of the approaching wave of water.

With only faith in his ability and work, Rovaan took to the air and flew towards the approaching barges loaded down with brigands. AS he neared he swung his sword in horizontal fashion sending a wave of fire at the barges making sure to lead them a bit. In his mind, Rovaan was in hopes that his attack would cleave the barges in half. But now it was up to fate.

Bridge

Seeing what is coming, not thinking about himself Kuro tapped into his demon powers, mustering up every bit of energy he could to try and push. Tapping into Azul's energy that he absorbed He then punched his aura like arms at the incoming water. Kuro then yelled, "I don't think I will be able to hold this back! I hope I have enough power keep this from killing us!"

Kuro's aura was starting to take the shape of Azul slowly the more he uses the energy that came from him. Kuro wasn't right now concerned by the shape of the or his own well being he was trying to protect those around him

Joric Ironfist

Joric's taunt had not distracted the troll nearly as much as he had hoped, unfortunately. So he was left stumped. His only option was to charge a troll that was already on fire and could most likely crush him with ease. An option which he was legitimately starting to consider.

But then he spotted the bandits coming in via boat. Attacking while everyone was already engaged with a much greater threat, the cowards. Still, you could say that their strategy really... floated their boat. And besides, you couldn't expect bandits to be honourable. Just as he was readying himself to deal with that, he heard screams up above - the sound of five bandits being roasted alive. He looked up and spotted the brigands. How many of these guys were there!?

Joric quickly crouched and brought his shield up, two arrows slamming into it. Keeping his shield raised to block any incoming projectiles, he looked over to see what the troll was up to. Apparently it had the ability to regenerate its wounds, which was hardly ideal. He then found himself stunned when the troll revealed it was capable of speech.

Joric took a second or two to ponder over this riddle, wondering if there was any true meaning to it, when he saw the troll prepare for some sort of arm swipe. Putting two and two together, the dwarven warrior stood up and ran to the side of the road, diving behind a conveniently placed rock that was barely large enough to shield his entire body. The water surged past him.

Once it passed, he quickly stood up and began running to where the boat brigands would be landing.

Brodus

"Commoners also die the moment some new bandit leader, dark lord, demon, or other evil entity decides to stroll through their defenseless village, so what do they know?" Brodus scoffed. To him, the everyday peasant was nothing more than souls to supplement his power reserves. "I'm sure those are just tales they tell themselves to feel safe at night."

"Still, I won't deny that the gods hold power. But when was the last time a god other than you set foot on this world? Why, with the things I've done I should have been slain by some divine champion or suffered a life ending stroke of bad luck ages ago."

Alicia Vendal

"We are so not prepared for this..." Alicia muttered under her breath when the topic of food came up. In all honesty she wasn't even sure why she had gone this far north in the first place. "Yeah, I know a bit of hunting." She shrugged. "Though I'm not the best at actually skinning and preparing the prey." It wasn't because she was squeamish or anything - a person in her trade couldn't afford to be - she just wasn't good at that particular part.
