Annie

Morinth ignored Annie’s questions at first, but with the corner of her eye, noticed the kid had the Hallex pill. Morinth closed her lips and smiled.

“We’re going to a safe part in town, where the cops basically never go to, and we will be hidden from scanners. I am a Biotic, that’s it, all Asari are naturally Biotics. As for the FBI, they are after dangerous powers, aren't they? Dangerous stuff, hm? I like going to dangerous, exciting places, to see things you can never even dream of. Oh, you can just call me Morinth.” Morinth replied.

* * *

After driving for a rather long time, night came. The night was clear and crisp. Morinth flew to an area that looked like a series of abandoned construction sites, probably somewhere on the edge of the Middle City, bordering the Lower City. Annie noticed that there was a large abandoned warehouse, with big but broken lighted letters reading Jacob’s Construction Supplies. Overall, everything looked dark and dull.

“Here we are. The place doesn’t look like much, but it’s got multiple levels underground, and is heavily guarded by folks who are on our side. The infrastructure is even installed with military grade jamming devices. We’ll be safe here.” Morinth explained, landing her vehicle rather badly next to the warehouse, nearly crashing into the side of the warehouse.

The side doors lifted, and Morinth stepped out elegantly, her face softly loose but nearly beaming. She stroked Annie’s door as it lifted. Morinth tilted her head slightly, lips parting and revealing a little grin. Her eyes suggested eagerness.

“C’mon, we’re so close to being so safe.” the blue lady said softly.

There was always someone that was able to act rationally, and realize that their position in the situation was not one of dominance. That was one of the reasons X7A was always able to get what she needed, and why she had been trained to think as such. Someone always thought they still had the ability to deny her questions, but those people were of little consequence in the end because the intelligent ones - or scared ones, but in the end the differentiation meant nothing - would always be there to make them obsolete.

Does this reveal anything?
” X7A asked into her comms, as she was sure anyone on the other end would be aware of what had just transpired. Constant monitoring was something she took for granted, and so it would be more concerning if someone wasn’t there rather than if they were.

As for her own mind, there were a few possibilities. If he was telling the truth - and although there was no reason to believe he was, it was more likely that it was the case given the obvious desire to be saved from what had been certain death - then at least she had something to go on. It wasn’t precise, nor was it an image - although because of that she did ask, “
Do you have an image of her?
” - but it was unlikely such a description would match many people, particularly ones in a specific location like this.

The only concern was if there actually was an AI in charge of the project. That made this dangerous. Her skillset was designed for use against the sentient organic races and the weaponry they made and employed, while an AI was superior to her in terms of processing capabilities and reactionary actions. They could analyze scenarios more effectively than her, and unless she was able to find where their central computational core was located there was no way to destroy the being.

Yet as there was no evidence yet that this was the case, the logical means of approach would be to proceed with caution and keep alert for any sign that it was true. If that could be found, then alerting Command about it so that they could take the appropriate measures could be done, but until that point this mission was still under her jurisdiction and authorization to contact Command was not present.

The continued outburst by the man named Arnold caused X7A to look at him for a moment before taking out one of her guns and shooting him in the head. With the gravity singularity holding him in place, there was nothing he could do about it, and her determination was that he was not important enough to warrant keeping alive. With four people up here, three of whom seemed to be willing to cooperate, the fourth, the kind of person who was determined to have revenge, was not worth keeping alive. In the worst case scenario, he knew something that the others did not, but the chance of that was small enough that it could be ruled as negligible.

Also, the killing could have the effect that the others would tell her what she wanted for fear of ending up the same way. It was a common occurrence for her, and one that she would take advantage of whenever it was possible.

Sliding the weapon back into the holster as if nothing had happened, X7A continued, “
Is there anything else anyone can add to that? Where in the facility is this person located? What security measures are there?

As the vehicle flew in, landing in a very unprofessional manner, X7A added the question, “
Were you expecting a visitor?

Annie smiled as listened to Morinth's answers as they flew to where ever they going. Then she said in a tired voice,"Sounds good to me. Nice to meet you Morinth. So they go after anyone who has powers? That really sounds mess up. I like adventures to places I never been before. I never been in a flying car before."

She watched the sun set and it was a beautiful evening as they flew. She felt so tired from everything that just happened. All she wanted to do right now was go to sleep. But she was scared what was going to happen next.

They finally got to a place she never saw before. She got out of the flying car and followed Morinth to get somewhere safe. She was excited and nervous at the same time to find out what this place really is.

London

The group had managed to walk a short ways outside the school, when Lucas and Lilly heard a most dreaded noise. It was a short and merry jingle, probably one reminiscent on the streets four centuries ago. Exchanging worried glances, the pair quivered. Luckily, London seemed to be in their own little dream world, oblivious to the…

“… ICE CREAM!” the Krogan yelled at the top of his lungs, charging into the growing crowd for his share of dextro-friendly eggy goodness.

London perked up immediately. “Did I just hear-“

“N-no!” Lilly spat out, desperately glancing at Lucas.

He glanced to the side for a second, before sighing. “S-stay on focus, man,” Lucas said. Despite his impatience, he was wasn’t going to take responsibility for THAT incident again. Never again.

“But, then, what was he screaming about?” London asked. Attempting to turn around, Lilly’s arm wrapped around London’s waist. Struggling pathetically to look over their shoulder, London could see a crowd… but what were they there for?

“The same thing they’re all screaming about… more extracurricular math lessons! right Lucas?” Lilly replied, her voice oozing with venom.

“Err, yeah…” Lucas agreed, not that he had much of a choice. London appeared oblivious, even to the Krogan adding sick beats to the chime… so, At least for now, the crisis was averted. With a heavy sigh, he said, “come on, we’re wasting time! We have to catch that Asari!”

Scratching their head, Londed pointed behind Lucas. “That’s a little impolite,” London said with a hint of amusement.

“Huh?” was all Lilly and Lucas could manage, before jumping out of their boots.

“Why, helllloo-oh children.” the Asari greeted slowly, apparently unfazed by the jump scared faces of Lucas and Lilly. As they two took in their fill of the Asari, both their gazes and postures relaxed.

“Oh-hey.” Lilly said nervously.

“Hello…” Lucas said, dejectedly rubbing his head. That was more than a little embarrassing…

X7A

“Hold on a sec, let me run some scans.” Michael’s voice sounded, “If this Night Wind Demon really is some sort of human-Asari hybrid, then whatever Asari who looks very much like her may be a parent for the cloning. I will upload this new data, and see what I can find.” he continued.

Now, was time to show the men what they were faced with. Having dealt with Arnold, Han and John stayed silent, even as they heard blood drip to the platform they stood upon. This was quite a shock for the men, who did not expect X7A to suddenly do what she did, all the more surprising that she was so petite and young.

“Fuck!” Gabriel cursed under his breath, “Just my luck, and here I thought I’d be saved… I might just get killed by this killer kid.” he mumbled.

“Uh, well, lowest levels in underground facility guarded by militarily-equipped guys, former soldiers who join mafia. And, there is even a Mecha stored, but I forgot which level.” Han remarked, trying to be useful.

“There’s also smuggling going on. A giant Quarian named Maal’lok delivered us packages of hi-tech robotic and mechanical parts a few days ago. Damn things are creepy, the mechanical parts even move on their own.” John mumbled.

Hoping that he truly would get out of this alive, Gabriel had no choice but to be totally honest about everything. He sure did not want to die, and had a feeling he he had to add and adjust a few things.

“Uh, I just remembered a few things, uh, yeah... Uh, yeah, the company running this whole thing is Binary Helix, they deal mostly in genetic engineering, bioengineering, biotechnology, and some work in Biotics. They recently installed a super AI to run their bioprojects. They even fund their own paramilitary force, their security measures are pretty hardcare.” Gabriel said, pausing for a second.

“Night Wind Demon is their newest bioproject, she is their agent who gets rid of rival CEOs. She is a human-Ardat Yakshi hybrid, and a powerful Biotic, and she can connect her consciousness with another person and basically overload their brain, killing them. Apparently, whenever she kills someone in this manner, she obtains fragments of their memories and even skills, gradually making her more knowledgeable, skilful, and smarter. Perfect for finding secret information. She was expecting me to meet her at level Y, the second-last floor underground, room 4.” Gabriel said. So, it turned out he was much more than he seemed.

“As for the mafia, they mostly deal with smuggling and intimidation. The FBI are investigating Binary Helix, and have been for quite a while, but some FBI agents are working for Binary Helix. I think that’s why the FBI have been unable to find a vantage point against Binary Helix. Some pretty shady shit, there are FBI agents working for Binary Helix who take out other FBI agents. All major corporations are preparing for civil war, they have agents secretly working for them in basically all departments of the government. After the government collapses, the strongest corporation will take over, leading to a global corporatocracy. I swear, that’s all I remember and know.” Gabriel said.

Then, the clumsy flying car appeared, and X7A asked them a question. There was a pause for a few seconds.

“Uh, who would be coming here?” Han asked no one.

“Someone who obviously knows about this place.” Gabriel remarked, “OK, that’s it, are we good? Can I just go now? You won’t ever see me again.” he continued with a squeaky voice.

“X7A, you, uh... made quite the discovery. If what he said is true, I am reporting this to Command. If there are double agents working in the FBI, they need to know about it. This mission just got a lot more complicated and a lot more dangerous, but we still need more information. If you can, find a way to infiltrate the lower levels, find a database or something and upload it to me. If we get all of Binary Helix’s names and records, we will be very close to crushing their plots. You are now considered an expendable agent in your mission for the United States of America. Michael out, stay safe, X.” Michael radioed.

Upon scanning the new visitor, X7A overheard: “Sounds like we better move, the FBI must be here already. Inside the warehouse, Annie. It’ll take us to the lower levels. Find the metal double door, knock, and tell them Morinth sent you to speak to Veernae. Tell them you’re a Metamorph, too.”

Annie

So, here they were, nighttime, in an abandoned construction site. Just as they stepped out and began walking, a gunshot cracked aloud, coming from high above. Morinth turned her head to glance at what happened, but then just moved on as if nothing happened.

“Sounds like we better move, the FBI must be here already.” the blue lady remarked, then opened her Omnitool, double checking where her nav point was. “Inside the warehouse, Annie. It’ll take us to the lower levels. Find the metal double door, knock, and tell them Morinth sent you to speak to Veernae. Tell them you’re a Metamorph, too.” Morinth continued, then stopped and waited.

Inside the warehouse was dark and empty, but if Annie chose to enter, she would eventually see a pair of metal double doors. It was, however, her choice on what to do next.

Shepard Academy, which was located in Morristown, New Jersey, had quite an interest day.

“Hah! Kids.” a teacher remarked at the horde of ice cream eaters.

“Seems like a good day! First, Annie Wells turns out to be a Metamorph and nearly burns the school down, now we have an ice cream truck.” another teacher commented.

“Poor thing, she was so nice all the time, too. A little weird at times, but always so nice. I hope she makes a full recovery at Morristown Medical Centre.” a third teacher butted in.

If only an entire school would act like that over extracurricular math lessons, but everyone knows, ice cream was way more important. Indeed, the Krogans were once proud artists, they knew how to create awesome beats to any song.

Well, and thus stood the Asari the boy was after, and what a shock it must have been. Indeed, the image of London, compared to this Asari, was quite the contrast. The teenagers were rather intimidated, not even the Asari’s rounded curves could stifle fear. There was something disturbing about this blue woman.

“I don’t love kids,” the Asari said, “but I’d just love to chew ‘em up anyways. They’re so young, energetic, cute, and full of eagerness to have fun.” she continued, slowly bending forwards and having a very pleased, very satisfied face. That was when London realized something peculiar about the Asari: her eyes suddenly became pitch-black spheres, but this time, the Asari did not close her eyes before the transformation. She looked side to side slowly, so that she had made eye contact with London, Lucas and Lilly.

“You all looked into my eyes. You would do anything I say. So, come on, follow me.” was all the Asari said. Unlike Lilly and Lucas, London did not seem affected by whatever power the blue lady possessed, but being quite the inept fool, London followed along anyways.

The Asari had led the three L’s whilst the school was distracted by the fire and firefighters, but much more so by the ice cream. The presence of the ice cream truck and the hordes it attracted allowed the Asari to wander off with her three new friends, which were promptly met by a large dark blue van, driven by a Salarian with reddish skin, brown eyes, and wearing a jumpsuit. The blue lady slid open the side door.

“In.” was all she had to say, and the three pupils did what they were told, London probably wondering what ever all of this could mean. The blue lady nodded to the Salarian, closed the door, and the van drove off.

“Annie Wells, Morristown Medical Centre, perfect... Earth is just too easy.” the blue lady said as the van drove off inconspicuously, and then she walked off as if nothing had happened.

Before London could really do anything, the Salarian driver turned around, noticing that London was unaffected by the Asari’s mind-control. The two pairs of gigantic eyeballs stared and stared and stared, for a few seconds, maybe London even said something? Then, the Salarian used a Taser on London’s forehead, BIZZZZZT! She was out for the ride.
