Operatives are rebels who are also former special forces, and can be equipped with a mix of advanced and old-fashioned armor and weapons. Capable of infiltration, firefights, and standing up to other professional soldiery makes them especially dangerous insurgents.


















Rangers are masters of the untamed wilderness, also capable of hunting, tracking, trapping, stalking, and sniping. Amidst endless concrete jungles and screeching traffic, natural forests are rare, but there still are pockets of wilderness. Only the traditional can survive without technology, and so it is, Rangers are virtually impossible to find, and so make perfect rebels.





Warlords are the tribalistic military leaders of rebellions. Head to toe in the extremely old-fashioned yet powerful and heavy Power Armor, they are virtually invulnerable to conventional attacks. Notorious for their ruthlessness and brutality, they will stop at nothing to overthrow the government, or die trying.

Xavier Etienne Giraudon

He is the de facto leader of The Insurgency, or L’Insurrection as it is known in France and the French-speaking world. Much of his past is unknown, but he is largely assumed to be a Parisian Metamorph, due to his uncanny ability to constantly avoid detection by any technological means, and his obsession of the Eiffel Tower, which has become a symbol of The Insurgency.

Xavier’s mind seems capable of connecting with computer and communication systems, allowing him to contact anyone he pleases, and even access their personal information. This allows him to always be many steps ahead of everyone else, and he has been known to mastermind prison breaks, bank robberies, and even install bugs in the most advanced AIs and military androids. He is also capable of clairvoyance and mentally detecting other Metamorphs. There are various rumours of him, ranging from he being former special forces, an ex-corporate CEO, a hyper-advanced android, or even a holographic AI masquerading as a human.





Gang Wars are a serious problem in the Lower City. Gangsters are rebellious indeed, but they are not part of any official rebellion, instead sticking with their crime, trafficking, smuggling, gang violence, or whatever they do. Gangsters range from groups of street thugs to the mafia.
This storyline is simple, useful for players who like breaking the law, and occasionally peoples’ skulls.

Mandalorian
Mandalorians are famous (and infamous) for their hardiness and proficiency in all forms of combat, and are iconic for their great helm-like helmets, jetpacks, flamethrowers, and back-mounted rocket launchers.

Although an alien species coming from another solar system, Mandalorians look exactly like humans. They are often considered to be at an equal level of soldiers, even without military training, and are rightfully feared for their martial prowess and warlike temperament. However, this also means that Mandalorian wars and civil wars had excessively high casualties. Thus, Mandalorians are very rare, and a slowly dying race.

Since their homeworld lacks enterprise and is ruined from constant warfare, most companies do not bother risking investments in such a wildly violent planet. So, many Mandalorians are forced to travel abroad for work, and tend to become bounty hunters, bodyguards, and mercenaries. Sometimes, even governmental agents will hire Mandalorians to catch dangerous terrorists.
This storyline is useful for players who don’t really care about revolt or crime, but still would like to break the law, be dangerous and feared, and make money.









However, contrary to their reputation, not all Mandalorians are die hard adventurers. Resembling humans perfectly, some Mandalorians mimic the human lifestyle, choosing the path of education and hard work, leaving their race’s iconic reputation behind.





Prototype

You awaken, suddenly realizing you exist. Upon your birth, you had no idea what was going on, yet at the same time, you knew exactly what to do, and how to do it. After ripping yourself free from whatever entombment of cables and wires trapped you... well, what now?

You managed to escape whatever scientific factory that had borne you. You even overpowered a few guards, took their weapons, and fought your way out that, that... that place. Now, you are free. But what is free?

Corporates refer to the governmental and military personnel of the country. Although the police and military are expected (and they themselves tend to believe) to be national forces, in reality, they are owned by corporations. Indeed, money is what truly rules the world.



Police are trained to prevent and detect crime, but they also serve as riot control and SWAT teams when necessary, making them versatile law enforcement personnel. From handing speeding tickets to shooting terrorists, Police are reliable governmental personnel indeed. They range from lightly to heavily equipped, depending on the situation.







Police Mechs are not equipped with lethal weaponry, instead having high-powered water blasters to repel rioters. It’s sheer size is often more than enough to intimidate most.




Detectives are those who investigate crimes that the Police cannot solve. Detectives tend to be loyal to their job, but can disobey the law or authority if they feel there is an unjust order.




The FBI is the domestic security and intelligence agency of the USA. Where Detectives fail, the FBI will be sent to investigate. FBI agents are masters of counter-espionage, and are very likely to spot a disguised fugitive or threat.




Enforcers are heavily armored, well equipped, paramilitary personnel who suppress (or oppress) specified areas or people, especially when in conflict with Corporate interests. They also guard Corporate headquarters, facilities, factories, and other important structures. Equipped with visors that enable night vision or infrared, they are useful for locating troublemakers hiding in the dark.

Unlike Police, Enforcers are legally allowed to use lethal force whenever they feel necessary. They also employ the use of drones for reconnaissance.







M-2 androids are simple but hard-hitting combat robots. Where it is too dangerous to send a human, a robot will be sent instead. These robots are used to suppress or subdue enemies with heavy machine gun fire, and can operative basic devices.




Grunts are common soldiers. If the army must be sent somewhere, then something truly dangerous is happening! They can be equipped with full body suits that protects them from volatile gases, radiation, smoke, airborne viruses, and other hazardous substances. They also use drones for reconnaissance and bombing.










Stormtroopers are larger, taller, stronger, heavily armored soldiers, whose job is to charge into enemy positions. Their heavier armor allows them to withstand more damage and gunfire than regular soldiery. They can be equipped with full body suits that protects them from volatile gases, radiation, smoke, airborne viruses, and other hazardous substances.







ADVs (abbreviation for “advanced soldiers”) are very sophisticated soldiery, wearing full body armor integrated with advanced computer systems that allows them to target, track and analyze threats, even at long range. They have constant access to GPS, and can see in night vision, X-ray, and infrared. Although not as stealthy or versatile as Spec Ops, ADVs are capable of standing in frontline firefights.

KRSLD are highly advanced combat androids, often abbreviated as Curses, alluding to the first 3 letters, KRS. The Curses are quite dangerous, as their AIs are capable of evolving and learning. They can also run, take cover, predict enemy movements, perform various actions, drive vehicles, and even hack computers and lesser robotics and hardware. They are installed with the most advanced firewalls, sensors and programming, are hacker-proof, and programmed to immediately shoot and kill anyone who attempts a hack on them. However, such androids are extremely expensive.





Spec Ops are special forces operations units, and consist of elite soldiery. It is their job to go undetected to whatever specific enemy must be eliminated or captured, then disappear as soon as they make their move. They can see in night vision, X-ray, and infrared, so very few can hide from them.







Astromarines are advanced, sophisticated soldiery: elite soldiers who wear full body suits that allows them be in space. On average, astroarmor provides about two hours of air before the wearer begins to suffocate. As such, Astromarines must endure gruelling and dangerous training to prepare for low to high gravity, lack of oxygen, claustrophobia, isolation, darkness, and various psychological and physical torments. They often are guards for Colony Ships, Orbiters, and moon bases.

Shinobi are, essentially, cyber ninjas. Lightly equipped, but possessing advanced suits that allow invisibility, they are perfect spies. Being able to become invisible when one would normally be in plain sight is quite the advantage. Shinobi tend to be used in reconnaissance, assassination, sabotage, and black ops.





Military Vehicles

Warthogs are tough four-wheeled vehicles, mounted with a big, powerful machine gun turret. Capable of fast driving, durability, and powerful turret support, it is a widespread favorite of soldiers.

Tanks are armored vehicles with tracks and a large turret. The most common tank is the CONCEPT, a modern tank made in Poland over two hundred years ago that became widespread due to its speed, power, durability, stealth systems, and versatility. Since its release, it has undergone vast improvements, and remains a common tank throughout the militaries of the world.




Walkers , or Mechas , are large to gigantic armored walking vehicles, used to travel across ruins, debris, steep surfaces, swamps, pit-ridden areas, or dangerous terrain that cannot be overcome by foot or wheel. They can be equipped with turrets. Ironically, Walkers are also capable of running.








Transporters are huge, armed, superheavy-armored vehicles, essentially wheeled bunkers, which safely take multiple squads of soldiers or law enforcers through dangerous territory.




The PEACEMAKER is a giant tank, capable of crushing just about anything in its path. A single shot can destroy other tanks and Mechs, and anything smaller would be an afterthought. A truly terrifying vehicle to behold.

Mech is a generic term applied to various large to huge exosuits, which range from android-shaped to simpler legged-platform shaped. Smaller Mechs are much more agile than tanks, but expensive and costly to maintain. Gigantic Mechs are truly terrifying to behold, but slow and extremely expensive, costing multiple millions of dollars for a day’s activity.














The Arc Walker is a tall, bipedal, military Mech equipped with plasma cannons on either arm. Each arm charges up its electrodes, and once ready, releases ionized gases as well as a powerful laser through the electrodes, resulting in directed plasma. Since plasma burns at around 10,000 Kelvins, it can gradually melt through other Mechs, armored vehicles, buildings, and even slabs of solid stone. This Mech is designed for melting cover and armor, and vaporizing smaller targets.

Naval Battleships have not changed much since the 21st century. They remain as dreadnought class ships, but are also capable of submerging and launching torpedoes like submarines, though are not as good as actual submarines.




Submarines have not changed much since the 21st century, and still follow the same core design. They are capable of deep sea diving, are extremely difficult to detect, and have AI-controlled torpedoes that can swerve or zigzag amidst coral reefs, icebergs, or other obstacles.

Helicopters and VTOL aircraft have largely been replaced by more modern craft, especially by those with engines that allow hovering. Nevertheless, old-fashioned aircraft sometimes appear here and there, as they are still a cheaper alternative to modern vessels.




Jumpships are versatile aircraft, also capable of hovering, and have largely replaced helicopters and VTOLs. They are capable of some fighting, but are primarily transport aircraft, designed to quickly take soldiers in and out of areas.




Jumpfighters are versatile aircraft designed for missions requiring multiple forms of support, from transporting supplies and troops to attacking enemy forces. So-named, as they can quickly take-off and land. They are reliable, and their stocky shapes and heavy armor makes them quite durable.




Fighters are extremely fast, powerful aircraft, designed to pursue and shoot down other aircraft with powerful armaments. Fighters can fly into the Kármán line.




Aerial Battleships are huge aircraft, and capable of flying up to a few hundred kilometers above the Kármán line, but they are not spacecraft. Their design is to destroy hostile spacecraft too large for artillery or Fighters to take out or reach, and to attack hostile forces on land or sea. A few Battleships can level an entire city within a few days, if they had to. Battleships are so heavily armored, that Fighters are often incapable of severely damaging them.




Colony Ships are massive spacecraft, designed to transport personnel, resources, and supplies throughout the habitable cosmos. Although they are for civilian purposes, Earth’s Colony Ships are always operated and guarded by the military. It is simply too risky to send such investments into space without military protection.

Orbiters are colossal spacecraft, so-named, as they orbit planets. They serve as spaceborn vessels full of supplies and resources, sending shuttles and engineers to other spacecraft for restocking and repairing services. This way, it is much faster, easier and cheaper for spacecraft to request aid, without having to dock on the planet.

Orbiters also provide many other services for spacers, from mercantile to shipping, trading to hotel services, fast food to job employment, docking to recreational activities, and whatever else is available. Whenever Orbiters need more resources or supplies, orders are shipped from the homeworld for restocking.

This storyline is of immediate adventure; you don’t have time for petty squabbles or childish feelings! You are not part of anything, you are alone. Alone against everyone else... that’s the only way they’ll have a chance.
