This afternoon I made my fourth trip into The Wilderness.
The first two times I entered this lawless wasteland, I simply wandered around and gathered skulls. The third time was nearly a month ago, when I went out to Level 6 Wilderness to mine runite ore before I had access to the Mining Guild.
This time I entered The Wilderness with another objective. I hopped the wall in Edgeville and made my way north past the skeletons. I stopped to kill a scorpion, then went northeast. Along the way, I picked up 2gp. Soon I saw my objective: The Wilderness Volcano lodestone. I activated the lodestone, then teleported to Lumbridge.
I have now activated every lodestone in the free world except for Ashdale.

I've been putting out fire with gasoline!
This afternoon I raised Firemaking from level 64 to 66 after burning protean logs at the Grand Exchange. Next, I took one of the yew logs I got from the ankou and brought it to the top of the gatehouse in front of Lumbridge Castle. Burning the yew log here completed the second Lumbridge area Hard Task needed to claim the Explorer's Ring 4. There are two Medium Tasks left for me to do before I can claim the Explorer's Ring 3 (cook a lobster and start Dragon Slayer).
Next I decided to make some incense sticks. I used 20 logs to make 10 bundles of wooden incense sticks, and I brought these with me to Ice Mountain, where I killed 20 icefiends. I gathered their ashes and used them to coat the incense sticks. I killed 10 more icefiends, grabbed their ashes, and teleported to Varrock. I took 10 more logs from my bank, made 5 more bundles of wooden incense sticks, and coated these with the 10 impious ashes I had on hand. I took 15 grimy tarromin from my bank, cleaned them, and added them to the impious incense sticks to create 15 tarromin incense sticks, which I sold on the Grand Exchange for 75,000gp (5,000gp each).
Then I took my brass key from my bank and went to fight some hill giants. I can dispatch these pretty easily now. After I had killed seven giants, I reached Attack, Defence, and Strength level 49 as well as combat level 61. After killing several more giants, I moved to the hobgoblins. After I had killed a couple dozen hobgoblins, my pack was almost full. This was when a Dangerous Hobgoblin (level 41) appeared. I killed it with ease. After that, I killed another level 32 hobgoblin and reached Constitution level 53 as well as combat level 62.
Later, I reached Magic level 37 after casting Low-Level Alchemy on an entire inventory of gold amulets.
I now only need one more Attack and Defence level in order to use rune gear, and to wear blue dragonhide and mystic armor.

I gained a level in Magic and in Prayer, raising Magic to level 38 and Prayer to level 40.
Next, I mined a full inventory of gold ore in Al Kharid. I then smelted the ore into gold bars, crafted the bars into gold amulets, and alched the amulets.
I then teleported to Falador and ran to the Artisans' Workshop. I smithed a pair of rune gauntlets +3 and a rune plateskirt +3, plus I did some protean rune smithing. This raised my Smithing from level 54 to 56. I banked the armor, grabbed my rune ore box, a geode, and my Explorer's Ring 2, and went down into the mines. I mined 125 runite ores, then went on to mine 100 luminite. While mining the luminite I got Mining level 65. I found 29 geodes.
I returned to the Artisans' Workshop, smelted 24 rune bars to add to my total, then smithed a rune chainbody +3 and a rune full helm +3, then did a little more protean rune smithing. I raised Smithing to level 58. I banked the armor. I now had a fully upgraded set of rune armor and a rune 2h sword +3. I just needed the stats to use rune gear.
I teleported to Varrock and ran north to enter the sewers. I stopped to slay several ghosts before moving deeper into the sewers. When I reached the room with the two level 32 skeletons, they both attacked me at once. I used Cleave to swing my sword right through them, killing them both with one swing! Finally I fought many level 51 moss giants. They were somewhat persistent, but they did not pose much of a problem. While fighting these giants, I managed to reach Attack, Defence, and Strength level 50 as well as combat level 63!
The moss giants stopped being aggressive towards me at that point. I killed two more of them before teleporting to Varrock. I took my rune gear from my bank and equipped it. I sold all my adamant gear on the Grand Exchange, except for the adamant plateskirt +2, which nobody was buying for a decent price. I sold that to the Varrock general store for 1,200gp.

Kat

I made another return trip to Level 4 of the Stronghold of Security (Sepulchre of Death). I used the portals to reach the treasure room on Level 3, then I climbed down to Level 4. I fought several shades and received no drops. Then I headed north to the small room I had previously discovered containing level 61 ankous. These bonebags are tougher than the level 63 ankou I have killed scores of without finding the left skull half. I figured it must be these ankou that drop the final piece I needed to create the Skull Sceptre. I entered through the south doors. I attacked a nearby ankou. After a few rounds of intense combat, both of us were half dead. I stepped back through one of the doors just long enough to use my adrenaline to regenerate my life points. The ankou I had attacked was marked so I could tell which one was damaged. It hadn't healed as I had, so the advantage was mine. I charged it and after a few more rounds I had beaten it. The ankou dropped 20 adamant arrows. I was nearly at full health, so I viciously attacked a second ankou. I quickly defeated it. This ankou dropped an uncut sapphire - and the left skull half! I had guessed correctly!
I then returned to the large chamber filled with ankou and ghosts. I dispatched several of each before proceeding to the treasure room. After answering the three simple security questions, I claimed a pair of Fighting Boots from the Cradle of Life. I also unlocked the Stomp emote. I had completed the Stronghold of Security. I climbed the bone chain to quickly reach the surface and ran to the west bank in Varrock. In addition to coins, the level 63 ankou dropped 20 more adamant arrows, 2 noted yew logs, and a noted piece of mystic cloth. I banked all my loot except for the left skull half, and I withdrew the right skull half as well as the runed sceptre. I joined the two skull halves to form a strange skull, which I used with the runed sceptre to make a Skull Sceptre!

I used my newly-created Skull Sceptre to teleport directly to the starting room on Level 4. This completed another achievement, which was to use a Skull Sceptre to teleport to Edgeville. I began slaughtering shades. On a couple of occasions I used Cleave to one-hit kill a shade. While fighting the shades, I managed to reach Attack, Defence, and Strength level 51 as well as combat level 64. Between my increased stats, my upgraded gear, and access to the Cleave ability, I am becoming quite skilled at dealing death.
The shades dropped two more shade robe tops, so now I own a total of five tops and only one shade robe bottom.
I used the portal in this room to travel to the treasure room. I then went to fight more ankou and ghosts. The ankou dropped coins, 20 adamant arrows, an uncut sapphire, and a piece of medium bladed mithril salvage.
I have completed the Stronghold of Security, though it will remain a good place to train. I have assembled the Skull Sceptre. However, the search for Cremation continues...

Kat
