After I had smithed six adamant +2 weapons - a main and offhand version of the battleaxe, dagger, and longsword - I spent 1,000 oddments on two small protean packs. These packs provided me with a total of 150 protean bars. Using all of these bars at the Lumbridge anvil to do some protean adamant smithing raised my Smithing from level 44 to 49. This should enable me to make the fractite gear I haven't been able to make previously. I am also one level away from being able to smith rune items.
Today I also decided to complete the rest of the beginner tasks in the Lumbridge achievement set. I then spoke with Explorer Jack. He awarded me the Explorer emote, an antique lamp (which I used to gain 500 Magic XP), and an Explorer's ring 1. My ring of luck has better bonuses than this ring, except it doesn't have the Explorer's ring's Prayer bonus of 1. I'm still wearing my ring of luck.

One of my current daily challenges was to catch 25 creatures using the Hunter skill. I went to Taverley and successfully tracked and snared 10 polar kebbits (after the first one got away). This raised my Hunter to level 3. Burying their bones also got me Prayer level 34. I then went to the east side of town, where I learned how to lay traps to catch crimson swifts. Catching the first bird got me Hunter level 4. As I caught the sixth crimson swift, I reached Hunter level 5 - the F2P level cap for this skill. I banked the kebbit fur, the meat, and the red feathers. Then I went back and caught another 9 polar kebbits to complete the daily challenge. Later on, I toggled off three of my skills - Herblore, Hunter, and Summoning - from being available for future daily challenges. This should improve my chances of receiving more useful challenges. I may opt to toggle off other skills, such as Agility, in the future. For now, I will see how this works for me.
When I first arrived in Taverley today, I accidentally got Farming level 2 by picking flax to spin into bowstrings. It was my intention to stock up for future Fletching challenges. It was not my intention to train Farming.
I also did a little shopping at the Grand Exchange today. I bought a token to unlock the purified greatsword cosmetic override for 740,000gp. I like the damage output of my adamant 2h sword, but I don't like how it looks. I liked the looks of my black and mithril 2h swords more. This purified greatsword looks...great!

I made some good gains and explored some new places today.
First I used three medium XP lamps on three different skills. I raised Dungeoneering from level 18 to 20, which also raised my total level to 600. Then I raised Cooking and Fishing to level 24. Later, I raised Magic from level 27 to 30 using three more lamps.
Next, I returned to the anvil in the sewers under the Draynor jailhouse, where I completed the Steel Justice achievement by smithing a steel longsword. This also raised my Smithing to level 50. I can now smelt rune bars and smith rune items. I had no runite ore and no luminite in my metal bank, so I decided to go get some.
I took a boat from Port Sarim to Karamja. I paid for the trip by filling a crate with bananas for Luthas, who has a plantation on Karamja. Afterwards, I grabbed some bananas for myself and ran west. I found a volcano where I heard runite ore could be had. I climbed down some rocks. I found the runite and a swarm of annoying giant bats. Fighting the bats got me Attack, Defence, and Strength level 41 and CL 51. In spite of the near-constant attacks, I managed to mine 14 runite ores with my adamant pickaxe, reaching Mining level 57.
I climbed a rope out of the volcano and teleported to Falador. I banked my runite and entered the dwarven mine, where I got Mining level 58 after mining 114 luminite and Constitution level 43 from fighting scorpions. I discovered the resource dungeon in the mine, which got me Dungeoneering level 22. I mined 80 mithril ores and 3 gold ores. I went up to the Artisans' Workshop and deposited the luminite and mithril before smelting 14 rune bars. I smithed a rune ore box and a rune pickaxe +2. This left me with 4 rune bars. I need 8 bars to upgrade my pickaxe to +3. Gathering runite will be easier now, though.
Finally, I used my new pickaxe to mine gems in Al Kharid. Fighting more scorpions raised my Attack, Defence, and Strength to level 42 and got me CL 52.

Early this morning I made my fourth trip to Daemonheim. It was brief.
I entered Floor 6 on Complexity 6.
I cleared most of the rooms. I even discovered the boss room (the boss was a Luminescent Icefiend). With at least two bonus rooms I couldn't yet unlock, I encountered a crystal puzzle room. I wasted too much time trying to get this puzzle solved. I figured out the solution, but it wasn't working. This is an annoying boss anyway, so I teleported out. Before I ended the dungeon, I sold everything I had and bought five fractite ores. I smithed a fractite platebody and added it to my bind pool. While in the dungeon, I reached Fishing level 25.
Even though I didn't complete this dungeon, I still got Dungeoneering level 23.
I then teleported to Draynor, where I completed the Vampyre Slayer quest. After crafting a clay ring and selling it to Morgan, he told me of the threat to the village posed by Count Draynor and pleaded with me to slay the vampyre. I decided to help. I consulted the drunken Dr. Harlow in a Varrock tavern, and he had some useful tools and tips. I returned to Draynor, entered the Manor, found Count Draynor in the basement, and easily slew him.
Finally, I did some bait fishing in Lumbridge. I caught four pike. Catching the first pike was the final Easy Lumbridge achievement I had to do in order to claim the Explorer's ring 2 from Bob. This upgraded ring allows me to freely cast Low Level Alchemy 30 times a day.
I cooked those four pike, and only burned one of them. I also cooked 28 pieces of beef. I burned two of those. Alching the three pieces of burnt food gave me 3gp.

Early this morning I returned from my fifth trip to Daemonheim.
This time, I cleared Floor 6 on Complexity 6.
I accumulated enough rusty coins to buy four fractite ores from the smuggler, plus I mined three kratonite ores. I used these to smith a kratonite helm and boots plus a fractite 2h sword to replace my trusty kratonite 2h sword. I said farewell to my old weapon and added my new one to my bind pool, to join my fractite platebody. I was also wearing a marmaros plateskirt that I found at the start of this dungeon floor. I upgraded my gear just in time, as my next fight was against a level 56 ice warrior - the highest level monster I have fought yet! I am still level 52. I was moderately wounded during this fight, but using my skill and my new gear I defeated this icy foe who stood between me and the big boss of this floor.
In a different room with an ice elemental, I found the second part of a letter "M and Thok" wrote to their sister.
In another room, I had to herd ferrets onto matching colored pressure plates to unlock the doors. I just wanted to grab the damned beasts!
In the final room I fought a Plane-freezer Lakhrahnaz for the first time. This big ball of hate was annoying to fight since the floor was icy, except for a couple of spots, and I kept sliding around as it shot ranged and magic attacks at me. Fortunately its attacks are weak. I only ate 2 dusk eels during the fight. When I was able to land some blows, without it pushing me away, it was easy to slay this thing. This fractite 2h sword is great! The boss dropped a pair of fractite gauntlets. However, I had smithed and bound a set of these gauntlets shortly before entering the boss room.
Completing this dungeon raised my Dungeoneering level from 23 to 26. It also fulfilled a daily challenge. Redeeming that got me to Dungeoneering level 27.
During this trip to Daemonheim I also reached Fishing level 26.

This afternoon I visited the monks of Zamorak at the captured temple north of Falador.
The first monk I killed outside the temple dropped a Zamorak Robe top. After killing quite a few more monks, I cornered one inside the temple just north of the altar. He dropped a Zamorak Robe bottom. After killing a couple more monks, I got level 43 Attack, Defence, and Strength as well as combat level 54.
War will not allow me access to his retreat until I reach CL 60. Insolent dog!
Afterwards, I did some smithing at the Artisans' Workshop. I made a rune 2h sword +3 and an adamant hatchet. I banked the sword, since I cannot use it yet, and I added the hatchet to my tool belt. I was 3/4 of the way done upgrading my rune 2h sword to a +2 weapon when I reached Smithing level 51.

This morning I returned to Level 3 of the Stronghold of Security (Pit of Pestilence) in order to fight the catablepon. After killing 6 of the level 53 beasts and getting nothing more impressive than a couple eyes of newt and a cooked trout from them, I moved on to fight the four level 54 catablepon in a small cave in front of the passage leading to the treasure room. These beasts were at the same combat level as me, so that made it fun. After 14 kills here, I found the Top of Sceptre piece of the Skull Sceptre. After killing one more catablepon for sport, I claimed the reward from the treasure room, including the Idea emote, and had a quick look around Level 4 before teleporting to the surface. At the West Varrock bank, I took out the Bottom of Sceptre piece I found on Level 2 and joined that with the piece I had just found to create a Runed Sceptre. All I need to do is locate the other half of the skull on Level 4. Then I can assemble a Skull Sceptre.
Tonight I paid another visit to the hill giants. I fought my way through to the entrance to the resource dungeon at the back of their lair. This is the second resource dungeon I have discovered. This earned me 1,600 Dungeoneering XP and Dungeoneering level 29. Inside, I defeated quite a few giants and buried their big bones. This got me Constitution level 46 and Prayer level 36. As I exited the resource dungeon, a hill giant was waiting there and attacked me. After wounding it a few times with my adamant 2h sword +2, I backhanded the giant. That killed it, as I reached level 44 Attack, Defence, and Strength as well as combat level 55.
