I had this problem as well. Brand new(built) pc. Fresh install of win 10 pro. Then I fully updated my bios. Then fully updated MB drivers. Then fully updated GPU drivers. Then fully updated windows. Once that was done I went into my bios to fine tune my cooling system, set up my ram, adjust my boot order and a couple other things. After that, I downloaded the runescape client, installed, and fired it up. Just curious what it would take from rs to make my new pc notice it. I opened the first client and logged in, let the cache load, then entered the game. Temps didn't move, 4% cpu usage, 12% gpu usage. About 5 minutes in, going through my bank, it just closed. no error, no message. Straight to desktop. Gone from task manager. After going through everything from the genius' at Jagex(Cache, driver's, reinstall, quickly lower all graphics settings before it crashes, and on and on and on). I then installed about a dozen other games just to see how they reacted, and guess what? No issues at all. *starting to think this isn't on my end*.....So then I went to 3 different friends who work in IT. So now I'm aggravated during Christmas break and my kids are really happy about it. So now it's time for clock work, who knows, maybe it will help...GPU first. overclocked-nope. underclocked-nope. CPU next. Overclocked-nope. Underclocked-nope. RAM next. Overclocked-nope. No need to underclock, just shut off XMP and my RAM auto plummets to 2666. And all of a sudden, crashes no longer exist. Whoa, fixed....kind of. Time to run memory tests with XMP off, on, and manually overclocked. MemTestPro, RAM is good. Windows Memory Diagnostic, RAM is good. Memtest86, RAM is good. Final conclusion??? Runescape somehow has an issue with XMP profiles and overclocked RAM. I'd take some of the blame since my 5800x isn't rated for higher than ddr4 3200 except for the fact that no other game has an issue with it and manually clocking down to 3200 while XMP is active still crashes.
