This all looks positive on the surface, but I still have serious reservations.

Let me state firstly, I love this game! I started in 2007, and was so excited when Oldschool came out. I have hugely enjoyed playing it, and I am still enjoying the game itself.

But some things have happened since it started again and now you ask us to get our friends to sign up. I'll be honest with you, at the moment, I am reluctant to do so. Despite what is said by some, many, many players *were* falsely banned, and yes, granted, some did jump on the bandwagon, hoping for a free ride, but some were genuinely good, honest players, never botted or macroed in their lives and it's now a matter of trust.

This leaves me wondering, (a) how much of the low numbers is due to people leaving (and their friends) because they were falsely banned and are just fed up, and (b) if we don't get the numbers, is it all going to go belly-up anyway? Are we going to invest more time and energy, and get our friends to do so, only for us all to be finally disappointed.

To be honest, I would like to see a public apology for the mistaken bans, without which, I am finding it hard to consider recomending this game to others.

Can you reassure us that this will not happen again, and that if we do talk to our friends about the game, it will be worth their while signing up? Getting rid of bots is awesome. Good job, but I and many others are still afraid to cut wood, mine rocks, fletch, pick flax or alch because of all the false bans. I can't honestly ask my friends to do the same at the present time.

Honestly and kindly

Rav3n :-)

I have to say, you guys have done a (somewhat surprisingly) good job with the bots. Of course there are still some, but numbers have significantly decreased. I feel like it's physically possible to train woodcutting again...

The numbers that we can see playing the game have dropped quite alarmingly, though. Do you guys have any sort of number that we know we should be worried about, or is it all secret?

"Of course, it’s not always plain sailing, we’ve seen bots and goldfarmers start to raise their filthy heads. Since launch we have been working hard on our anti-bot technology for Old School and those of you who read the recent Devblog will know that this is now up and running. The impact of this tech has been huge with tens of thousands of bots banned from the game freeing up areas like yew trees and blue dragons. As always it’s an arms race and there is still a way to go."

None of the bots I have reported have been banned. You haven't banned them or you temporarily banned them, either way, it's unacceptable. I was glad to see that you did ban a few hunt bots, cleared a few yews and got rid of a few rwter's but there is a lot to be desired still.

"We have always said that we will keep Old School open as long as there is enough interest and as things stand the future remains rather positive"

Do you plan to close it if the game doesn't garner enough interest? I'm used to Jagex not caring for their loyal players, can you let me know if this is a cash grab sooner rather than later? Thanks.

I have had a great time playing. I've only been at this for about 35 days or so but it has been such a great time playing the game that I originally fell 'in love' with many years ago.

I've been part of the Runescape community since 2002. (the year my first account was created) I left Runescape for a few years and came back for this. Honestly, keep the servers running and the amount of people playing should grow with minor improvements. I'm not saying add in things such as, summoning and other new skills, but the little things such as adding 'k' and 'm' to withdrawing money from the bank and putting up GP to make things a little more easy going.

Keep up the great work, work on those nasty bots, and I'll enjoy being a part of this community and game. I don't know how, but I'm saying 'congratulations Jagex' I haven't said that in a long time.

Keep it up.

Sincerely,

Brisk Archer

When I heard about 2007's return... I Couldn't shut up about it to my clan, it was a strange feeling going back in time.

I got three irl friends to come back to RuneScape and two I knew from in-game. I was posting on Yahoo! Asking 'Who will be voting on RuneScape 2007's return?!' secretly all I wanted to do was raise awareness and get people to come back and vote! :P

Glad it came back, and it definitely didn't disappoint. I had no worries about leaving my main that I had trained for 7 years to start over. Well- I do still top up members on it but... I enjoy OSRS.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, as Mark said, things look rather positive. The KPIs we use to measure things are ones which we don't release publicly so even if we had a cut off figure (which we don't) then it wouldn't mean a great deal to you.

The key message is to make you aware that both you and us need to build this great community to its fullest potential as we can't do it alone.

Mat.

Thanks for trying Mat. As I have no desire to 'shoot the messenger' I believe it best if I just leave it at:

MMG's message is 'concerning enough' for me to have pause in recommending OSRS to additional friends and family (I'd feel like, in being entirely honest with them, that I had no choice but to point out that the game 'might not' be around as long as we'd hope).

I understand that 'word of mouth' is important to the game.. I understood it back then as well... but I also understand that the statement on the OS 'homepage' says OS is here to stay.. and MMG's words don't really confirm that.

We have some secret stuff planned which I am sure will change your mind in the next few weeks.. *whistles*

Rut roe that whistle kinda worries me. LOL Would like to take this time to say Thanks for bringing back 07 enjoying every moment of it. Thanks for clearing a lot of bots.

There was a discussion in the fc yesterday regarding what follows the goblin invasion, gwd or zmi which neither one is favored in the fc. Just to be honest, the zmi altar ruins the reward feeling of earning the levels, not to mention making runes that is above the level to make. GWD was one place I rarely visited except for slayer task.

Honestly adding something that helps speed up xp or exp it kinda depletes the reward feelings. However, when one earns an item to help alittle, it kinda makes a person glad. Like the achievement diary items.
