Always concerns me to see messages from MMG. I never know exactly what to expect when reading* his posts (given his history with lies).

This message conveys concerning statements.

''We saw a huge amount of players return to Old School when it first released. As we expected though, the amount of players who still play has started dropping off a little. We have always said that we will keep Old School open as long as there is enough interest and as things stand the future remains rather positive.''

"enough interest'' means what exactly MMG?

You'll keep the game 'open' as long as there is ''enough'' interest... yet absent clear and concise information as to exactly what that means... I have no choice but to believe any (further) time I invest, could quite easily be wiped out by nothing more than a drop in daily players (and not knowing exactly what type of drop might trigger that* 'closing' of OS) and that that could happen at any point in time.

I'd trade everything in my bank (in both games) for just one clear, concise, precise, statement on this specific matter.

Tell us where the line is drawn.. what player count must be maintained, in order for OSRS to be kept 'open'.

Mhmm

and everything Tyria said.

my personal question: if the player interest isn't high enough, does that mean you'll just shut the game down completely, or cut the world list down (to the number of theme worlds) and then turn this into another RSC?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, as Mark said, things look rather positive. The KPIs we use to measure things are ones which we don't release publicly so even if we had a cut off figure (which we don't) then it wouldn't mean a great deal to you.

The key message is to make you aware that both you and us need to build this great community to its fullest potential as we can't do it alone.

That somehow made me feel good and bad at the same time...

Thanks for trying Mat. As I have no desire to 'shoot the messenger' I believe it best if I just leave it at:

MMG's message is 'concerning enough' for me to have pause in recommending OSRS to additional friends and family (I'd feel like, in being entirely honest with them, that I had no choice but to point out that the game 'might not' be around as long as we'd hope).

I understand that 'word of mouth' is important to the game.. I understood it back then as well... but I also understand that the statement on the OS 'homepage' says OS is here to stay.. and MMG's words don't really confirm that.
