The devs have seemingly already put a lot of time and resources into this skill. It almost seems as if they are going to push it until it passes. All of the time they have dedicated towards this could have been revamping castle wars, or adding new rewards to old content to keep it relevant in the current game build.
They did the same to artisan then just distributed some of the content to existing skills. Same thing needs to happen here imo. Creating a new skill for niche armours and forcing players to re-imbue their rings because NMZ is jank isn't a solution.
This sounds like an unnecessary skill that is just going to drain from future content. Trying to make mage viable in all areas by adding another skill to it.
This could all be done with adding new equipment and gear in future content, it doesn't have to have a completely new skill attached to it. Why the hell do we need a magic skill 2.0?
I thought the "vote no on warding" thing was just a meme at first, but this skill is really going to fuck up the games progress. literally everything in this skill can be replaced by drops from a future boss instead. We don't need magic to be used everywhere, let it continue to be niche and used in certain places, as it has for almost 2 decades.
I like this Idea and I'M happy to hopefully see this new skill. For me it's a much better thing than this sailing poll back in the days. I dont know what is wrong with warding or is smithing and tanning leather wrong too? Mage was always a main combat and skilling skill even in pvp so i dont know why people cant use mage right its one of the most valuable skills.
I just dont like how polls work. Most people dont even read them and are just voting yes or no. Most peeps cant even use the things they voted no or yes for.
Stinkowing figured the real problem out.

Also, I see a lot of ungrateful players here who just don't want change in osrs, and you know what?
You are the problem with osrs polls.
If proposed game content doesn't pass and keeps failing to pass, the game gets boring and stagnant. People quit. Game dies, and it'd be the fault of people who, Guthix forbid, can't accept change in a game that is clearly not the same as it was in actual 2007!
Warding will work. Give it a chance, OSRS could benefit in player numbers and content with a new skill rs3 doesn't have. It's not divination, it's not invention, it is its own damn thing, and people who don't read and vote no to every poll out of spite are wrong that the game is becoming rs3.
I hope jagex stands firm and forces Warding through just to spite those awful players...no matter what marketing tag line or promise they make to players that it's the players game, ultimately jagex are the devs and usually know what's best for the game in the long run.
*glances over at Deadman mode*
Usually...
For someone who's been around since 2006, I'm amazed you hold this opinion. The whole reason OSRS exists is that Jagex forced through updates that people didn't care for, and the Runescape community desperately wanted an unchanged, 6 year old version of the game (that is, they wanted the 2007 version in 2013) rather than all the change RS3 offered.
OSRS has overtaken RS3 in popularity and player base, and it's been successful because Jagex HAS offered these polls and HAS accepted player feedback in terms of how to change, or not change, the game. When they force out content, like original Zeah, you get something terrible that no one likes. When they listen to player feedback, like GentleTractor's (and others', I'm sure), you get actually decent content.

fairly interesting but a few thoughts on warding,
why not just combine warding and runecraft together instead into a skill called runic craft ? like making melee weapons and armor is one skill not two, runes are part of magic so why not just combine runecraft and warding and give runecraft some love, make creating runes a part of the skill like making darts is part of fletching and smithing and requires a quest to do so
Warding is supposed to be in the vein of crafting and smithing, so either runic craft would be unnaturally slow in comparison, or people who already have high runecraft levels would be...how shall i say...out for blood!
Also, we'll never get a two-word skill lol.
I fully support warding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like this should be a crafting/magic update not a new skill. I do like the content , but will vote no, as I don’t want to grind another skill. If you really want to add a new skill let’s go summoning! Even that could have just been added to he magic skill though.

"I don't want to add a new skill, let's add summoning."
First draft was a bit underwhelming, and people said: "dead content lol, waste of time REE"
Then with this draft, well thought out and a lot of effort put into : "RS3 shit REEE"
Serious concerns and constructive suggestions for changes are drowned by all the toxic, mindless naysayers.

Summoning is a much better skill. I will vote no to Warding.
Why not just add these magic armours to the crafting skill or from monster drops. There is no need for the warding skill.
Add the f2p robes and some of the p2p ones to last man standing and make a reward shop similar to the old fist of guthix one. Give shop tokens to like the top 5 finishers.
