When I started up OSRS (thank you mobile osrs!) I decided to go mage for all my combat. Unlocked runecrafting and just went at it. It didn't take too long before I had to ditch magic for combat because there were no options for decent gear at low levels, whereas there were plenty for melee.

I like the idea of this skill, especially if it will include creating other things like weapons and tools. So I'm sitting at a yes, but it will depend on the rest of the things you all end up revealing for the skill.

And for the people who say "We don't need this skill because you can just buy the equipment": If we didn't have a way to craft ranged armour and Jagex revealed a skill to create ranged armour, you would be saying the same thing. You're high leveled and don't need it, cool, that doesn't mean the skill wouldn't do a lot for a lot of other players.

Very late to the party but I'm in the wagon of "It's a great idea, but should be integrated into other skills".

Definitely a tough balance to find an idea worthy to be its own entire skill. I think there's plenty of opportunities to expand existing skills, the current 23 are a fantastic framework for all sorts of stuff.

Expansion of prayer beyond combat bonuses? Blessed tools and such?
Expand firemaking into a production skill for pyrotechnics?
Integrate firemaking and smithing for powerful furnaces for super pure metals?
Make hunter a new source of food? So RuneScape isn't a purely pizza and fish based diet?
Hunter and fishing bosses?

At the moment feels like a useless skill although perfectly in line with smithing and crafting as a production skill if they were all released at the begining. Needs higher level usages of the skill in order to be up to date with smithing and crafting.
For example crafting has zenyte jewelry , zulruh items ect. While smithing has dragonfire shields and sigil spirit shields.

Yes to warding for two reasons:
1) We need a new skill to keep things interesting. This skill has a use that can be later developed to be more useful for late game players. Idc about yet another profit maker, we have plenty.
2) im tired of everything involving a change to skilling in the game getting declined by the players who do the exact same things day after day. Some of us want a new meta.

Pass this please, if its bad get rid of it, really simple

But why would you quit the game? Is it because you're almost maxed? Because you think nothing should change in OSRS? Do you think it's unbalanced or should be a part of another skill?

As it stands, you're being too vague and that's not helpful for discussion. Give the reasons why and you can help the Old School team make an informed decision.

Warding is unnecessary and seems to be an unholy amalgamation of RC and Invention from RS3. Rather than releasing an entirely new skill, maybe consider expanding RC so there is actually incentive to train what I imagine is the least popular skill. To clarify, I'm talking specifically about the ability to create magic armor. The ability to "destroy" it, however, is redundant. Instead of a transparent item sink, there should be a new gold sink to counteract alching. That could be your new skill. “Nothing is so common as the wish to be remarkable.”

I support this. The concept and idea seems really cool. Plus in my honest opinion OSRS is due for a new skill. It would give those who have already maxed their accounts in OSRS something new to look forward to and do. It will bring that sense of competition back for those who are already 200M xp in all skills. As well as bringing something new to the community as whole.

The idea of being able to get new magic armour is a bonus as well, I personally believe that this could lead to a lot more content going forward if it passes the polls. Here's hoping.
