These types of updates will help fix some of the imbalance in the game we have while also making the old content more appealing again, I feel like some things need to be completed in old school runescape to make each skill appealing, but only very carefully and without changing the game overnight.Speeding up the xp rates of certain things too much is a huge NO if you ask me, that is what will devalue this game more than any other update I can think of.
Something that comes to mind is allowing blood crafting and soul crafting without a quest(or upon completion of MEP2 to make it fair for death crafters) so that the runecrafting skill is complete, while not adding the ZMI so people who get those levels had to work pretty hard to get it and will earn money on it as well, this ties loose ends but doesn't change the game drastically at all, runecrafting will still be slow even crafting souls if you only go up by the same rate of xp between runes as all the other ones (.5 xp I believe?).
I wish it could stay the exact same but it's true people will leave eventually if it never changes so it needs to be done with the idea of balance but changing the game to the point where things you would do to train, make money, or have fun today are laughable things of the past 1 year from now, is going to lose you way more memberships than never changing it at all, and I certainly would leave. I'm sorry but this whole dom's onion idea is a horrible idea, Do NOT add hitpoint splash absorbing effects to this game, that is when it changes from runescape to generic mmo #4975 which from what I can tell is all EOC is from the 15 minutes I've played it.
Maybe something you could do is allow not only f2p-style worlds but maybe add some 06 or 05 or 04 style worlds, where if you try to equip anything past that version of the game it will stop you. This could bring back old content style pvp and bossing without rewriting the game itself, could be fun but not game breaking.
