Changes to the Duel Arena

While this may be a gold sink, this does nothing but turn the Duel Arena into an actual casino. Personally. I've never "Xed" a staker before, so when I went to the duel arena I would either win or lose to other Max Mains. Since Max Maining is currently 50/50, this means in the long run you shouldn't profit, nor should you lose. So all players pass around gold between eachother. Now, everyone is going to get slowly cleaned to Jagex. This is a terrible option IMO and you should look for another place for a gold sink.


This suggested change feels like a targeted attack on Max Mains. One of the only reasons I decided to Max my account out in the first place was so I could stake. I spent hundreds of hours training my account just like everyone else. Now anyone with 75 attack can come to the arena and stake without putting in the work 99% of the game had to do. Another issue with this being, a player can come to the Arena and stake much sooner than they should be able to. Someone can play for a few days and reach 75 Attack, come try out the Duel Arena, and get cleaned the same day. This isn't good for the longevity of the game.

This may stop X stakers, but what it will empower is scamming. People are going to be able to come to the arena with overvalued items and get a guaranteed stake vs them. Whenever I price check an item, I use OSBuddy since the GE value is so often wrong. If we're forced to stake vs the GE value of items then we're going to end up fueling over valued item scammers.

I also feel as if people have to tough it out and if you get ddosed or D/C and die in game and lose all your things, too bad. It's RuneScape, it's how it has always been. Try playing the game with dialup internet back in the days and D/C'ing all the time and losing your things to monsters, random events, etc.. I've had many experienced of seeing my gear and items disappear before my eyes and times where when you D/C you don't even log back on until the next day because you know you wont make it back. People need to stop complaining about losing their items to disconnections. It's also fun to randomly see someone's gear pop up when they D/C and die, it's like a little gift for you, it's great. Sometimes you lose your things and people will get it, sometimes others will do the same. Stinks for everyone but it's fun when you get an unexpected gift. It's RS after all, I'm so sick of this game straying farther and farther away from how things were to make things easier and safer for people. Also, why on EARTH do we need 1-5m+/hr moneymakers. These gp/hr rates are insane. I'm content with 500k/hr max. If you don't have time to invest into an MMORPG, then go play a game that doesn't require investing time, stop trying to rush your way to the best things on here. It's what, 5% of the players have a max cape yet 75% of people keep begging for new content.

I would suggest a revision to the coin purse proposal.

Pickpocketing an NPC should produce a light coin purse, a second pickpocket creates a medium coin purse, third produces heavy coinpurse, and fourth an overflowing coin purse.

This concept would allow for thieves to actually carry food in their inventory and have a reasonable number of spots for purses.


Alternatively, the coin purse could have a maximum coin limit and only take 1 inventory slot. This would have the same desired effect without clogging up the inventory.

You could have a bottomless purse as a reward for completing all of the western provices diaries or one of the major questlines to prevent bots.

This "protecting game integrity" update is honestly going to kill your game. I can't believe you guys are reverting back to your old ways on the crap you have listed here.
Literally turning the game into a pg-13 kids games.
Doing things to support the snowflakes and dumb ass little kids. Updates similar to these are what made me and many others quit 10 years ago. Sad to see you guys haven't changed. Handing out false perma mutes, Changing your game to benefit half brained kids, then taking away the ability for people to hold drop parties AND to top it off, You honestly think putting a "tax" on staking is going to do anything other than piss people off...?
Good job Jagex! Run your game into the ground! First mobile, then this crap.

The only 2 content fixes I have issues with is the thieving one and the enchanting one.

1. The bot developers will just make their bots open the coin pouches very easily, and eventually it will end up only hurting legitimate players

2. And for the enchanting fix, it still doesn't fix the issue, the issue is not with 5 people being in the room, its with one bot taking all of the dragonstones and hopping to the next world, the first fix doesn't even do a single thing, if whoever proposed the idea played the minigame they would know that you already need a magic requirement to enchant the dragonstones to get points as it stands right now.

The hunt fix in particular is needed and useful as its an easy quest and I am surprised that it hasn't been released yet after being proposed many many months ago :P

I think most of these are good ideas, but i do not like 2 of these. Firstly the pick pocketing proposal is terrible. It would completely ruin a good method for thieving, and eliminate the possibility of bringing food. Just focus on cracking down on auto clicking.

The second proposal that i take issue with is in regards to the new death mechanics, i feel they are fine as is. This game does need a gold sink, but that isn't the way. Surely there are better ways that won't make the game as tedious.

Aside from these two I believe everything else is fine, the duel arena changes aren't the best but I'm sure they'll change too. I haven't even done the quest to use box traps yet, i don't like quests just like Mod Rock but if it means less bots I'm all for it. Please take these into consideration and thank you for being such an open and considerate team.

I'm in full support of all the proposed changes, however I would like to also share an idea I had that I proposed in your survey about the death mechanics.

Add a location in a safe area of the world where you can reclaim your items from your grave for a slightly higher fee. If you die in an extremely dangerous area with all your gear, you might not have anything to protect yourself long enough to claim your grave before dying again. Putting some kind of NPC somewhere like the Lumbridge Graveyard who would go get your stuff for an increased fee would solve this problem.

Also maybe increase the time limit based on how far away you died from your respawn point?
