These Duel Arena changes are a good start to prevent SOME scams. In addition to the changes given, I would like to propose further changes to make the duel arena as fair as possible.
If you really want to put an end to the scumbags of the arena, I will outline everything here. I understand that people "agree to the terms" of a duel but misleading people is not the spirit of the game.
1. Stop making mud pies count as a fun weapon. This is a big scam at the arena. I honestly would like to see the fun weapon option done away with. It is only used for scams. If it is for a friendly duel the option does not need to be there. If people want to stake with fun weapons only they can do so utilizing the check inventory option.
When you do a fun weapon only stake, it checks to see that both players have a fun weapon before even going to the stake screen. This brings me to my next points.
2. For ANY duel. Check to see that a player has usable items for the combat styles specified in the rules. For example, if a player tries to trick them into doing a magic duel and the other player has no runes, do not allow the duel screen to proceed just like fun weapons.
3. For a 1 handed weapon only duel, check that each player has a 1 handed weapon given the attack styles outlined in the rules. For example, when these scammers turn shields off, if the would-be victim had no darts, knives, chins, throwing rings, throwing axes, crossbow, etc, the screen would not proceed, saving the victim. The list of 1 handed range weapons is small and checking that the player has these should be similar to checking if they have fun weapons.
4. For no weapon switch duels, do a quick check to see if the player either has runes to cast spells, OR if the players wielded items are compatible (ie maple bow and rune arrows are not compatible so do not allow the screen to continue).
These are simple changes that would greatly improve the integrity of the Duel Arena.
