We don't need a new skill......

Update Priority Poll question 1 states that 11% want a new skill as their first priority. That's the 3rd highest. It clearly states that people would like a new skill.

Not sure what to think if you believe that "11%" is the same thing as people "clearly stating" that they would like a new skill. lol

Edit (on topic): I've said this on like three different artisan threads now since the idea got proposed - but it seems like all the logical niches of skills have been filled in the game and anything beyond this is forced content - and that's exactly what artisan looks like to me.

Ew please no. To think you could have used your time to do something productive. Please try again when you have something that met the skill design specs. ORIGINALITY - not something that you see as soon as you log in to RS3. BENEFICIAL TO OTHER SKILLS - yes it does meet this, yet it just aides new fish into quickly getting up to people who have spent a lot of time getting decent levels... I think Coolsville sucks!

In truth "if" this was to happen players would leave the game due to the fact "if it passes" and the mod kept pushing this update. We don't need a new skill, stop wasting time and work on other important updates. This poll won't pass either way. I think Mod Mat K want updates like these he should go on to eco and another mod take his place os.

I agree with a few others here. It seems a flimsy way of adding extra experience to the current skills, and I find them perfectly acceptable rates of experience already.

I said to others I'd head the new skill out but its not really keeping with the direction of an "old School" experience for me.

Still standing firm that Sailing is a workable skill though :D Thanks for the effort on this DB though.

" As we mentioned in the last develop blog, we will go into more detail about the balancing at a later stage, but we will ensure that we don’t devalue the effort players have put in to getting their skills where they are and to maintain the ethos that those who put the hard work in will get the benefit of higher skill levels."

They aren't looking to add extra experience to training skills. The idea here is to add more content to non-combat skills while also providing a new skill as a framework for new ways of training, introducing new resources, craftables, and ways to combine skills to serve greater purposes than just their single scope. In fact, the items that do allow for a chance at an extra resource gathered do not provide extra experience with it.

Please try and keep an open mind about this skill! :( Non-combat skills could really use a boost in profitability, fun, and usefulness. There's a lot of dead content right now -- like the entirety of firemaking and most of smithing -- that would be addressed with Artisan.

I've been following the new skill for my youtube videos mostly, at first I was rather opposed to artisan but as I edit my video for this dev blog I must admit I'm starting to like the sound of it.
Although that being said I still don't feel it is old school, adding a new skill isnt old school and many of the people who originally voted for wanting a new skill were thinking about summoning, dungeoneering and maybe even divination.

At least it's getting to a stage were if people voted it in it'd be acceptable, but it still wouldn't be old school.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.

The concept of this does seem promising, however, i feel as if this would not hold up well as a skill itself. I propose that this and "most" of your ideas instead be turned into more of a mini-game of some manner. Implementing the combination of skills to complete said skill "challenges" (to me) is a great idea and will encourage old, and new, players alike to explore the terrain of skills that they haven't gotten around to leveling. Here are some ways I feel this should be handled.

-Make currency like that of completing slayer tasks
1. After completing so many task allow a slight currency advancement
2. Being able to spend currency on crafting abilities (ex. creating slayer helmets)
a. being able to spend currency on excluding certain assignments
b. being able to extend assignment for a bigger bounty
*P.S. only allow players that have unlocked a crafting ability to obtain said item

-Creating more cosmetic equipment rewards that will attract "skillers"
1. Equipment that will help aid in certain skills but will not provide extra experience bonuses. (remember this is 07 Runescape, we do not want another EOC reoccurring)
a. dazzling , non-combat, equipment that may allow you to teleport to certain skilling camps. (just for example)

The main reason that this blog attracted me is the mentioning of potentially being able to create Robes and other cloth equipment. (this list is simple)

-Create a tailoring skill (crafting)
-Create a gather skill to obtain material

This is why we play 07 Runescape, we love the pain of a good grind

!!!I feel like Jagex is heading in the right direction!!!

Remember guys Jagex needs our help! We need to help them, help us. If there is anything you think you can add to my list, or different ways to address these matters, please do not hesitate to speak out. :D O_o :P
