You're right in terms of caution when approaching the experience rates & I hope they're carefully selected to uphold the value of players current high levels as you say - I think it will be an absolutely brilliant addition - Slayer for non-combat skills, I love it. Encourages to use of skills & gives benefits for doing so, as long as it's implemented correctly I think it will be great imo.

*Edit, if there's any Artisan content towards combat I'll be voting no, it's should in no way be designed towards combat. Why aim something that non-combat towards combat? There's enough combat orientated content available currently, it's time for something else.

A lot of players enjoy combat here, so it's logical that it gets a bit more combat related updates.

Don't forget that if they release combat items through Artisan, that they will be tradeable.

I think Construction was designed with a gold sink mechanic in mind.

I don't think that's even to be thought about, I'd say it's axiomatic. Considering it doesn't even beat around the gold sink bush at times.

Yes let's just literally throw 10m coins at a hotspot and somehow procure a steel dragon

This is oldschool? we DONT WANT **** new skills and for it to turn into RS3 with bad graphics? Add artisan to RS3 if anything not oldschool. Don't I remember a poll about what the players wanted to OSRS, and most people just wanted "quality of life updates"? and by quality of life updates we mean things like the chat filter, not making skills faster to level. I wonder how long until OSRS turns to **** too, i'll give it maybe four months?

Excellent blog with in-depth concepts!

I have no personal issue with any of the features listed, but I do particularly like the idea of the construction short cuts. Also, I'd like to see how these new methods will workout for surpass 99 skills. (Ie, Smithing - Which you had suggested as a possible block skill/task as an example.)

EDIT:

I like the idea, it's pretty nice... but i just don't feel like OSRS should have a new skill... I'm sorry i am going to vote no.

Why is that?

Because this came out as 2007 runescape and that's what some of us actually want? We love the simplicity and rewarding feel of the slow 2007 gameplay and we don't feel it needs new skills. and this isn't a skill, its a minigame, so call it so. Its just like a minigame with a points reward system that has been converted to levels instead. its pretty crap.

The community wants a new skill. The community voted for Artisan. Constructive criticism will benefit everyone. Completely bashing the skill won't.

No. There was no option in the poll for no new skill at all, so people voted artisan because out of all the **** ones it looked like the best. Fail poll there with JAGEX deciding they want to add new content. Only 11% of people voted saying they wanted a new skill so why are JAGEX so damn set on adding one in? We like oldschool because its basically 07 RS. Honestly I feel like a lot of parts about this game have got worse since release, but at the moment its still good. I would hate to see it truly ****** up, but its probably going to happen.

I will vote yes for this if you guarantee that it won't affect combat. Combination runes is fine, damage boosts are not. I think many people feel the same way.

I don't think osrs badly needs a new skill. On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt.

So what is slayer? Not a minigame with a point system? Lawl.

If we must have new content in this game, why not just add to existing skills rather than adding this new ******** skill along side? so many of these things fit into categories already... new things added to the current skills is something I wouldn't be SO against, but I think serious care needs to be taken in developing this games. meaning no higher xp rates, just different ways to train.

Herding = Farming + hunter
Construction shortcuts = Construction + agility
Blast furnace like machinery (plank cutters, etc?) = woodcutting + smithing + cons.
hopefully jagex can come up with more balanced and better ideas than these, but hopefully my point is understood.

etc, there are plenty of small additions to the game that could be made slowly over time, all being voted in, and their effect on the game being carefully monitored. an entire new skill would be awful.

Will be voting no and I hope enough others will or im out of rs for good, really.
