I thought if you did not use it you lost it... and did not the scarecrow even want a brain to use...?

Oh wait... you could use the artisan skill to build brainpower (gasps). =)

I love your ideas, including the ones on p32. I feel these would all be an excellent addition to the Artisan skill, aside from perhaps the getting free fish from fishing boats. These fish would have to be exclusive to the artisan skill and used for fulfilling orders, because free fish would drive down prices and hurt the economy somewhat.

These all sound like they could be difficult to script, but if they can all be done to an extent that would be amazing.

As for everyone else, I like skilling, and I like variety once in a while. Artisan wouldn't force you to train it, nor to train other skills through it, and from the sound of it if you gather and use all of the materials while doing the skill, it won't negatively affect the price of training other skills.

I like everything proposed so far; I'm only worried about the totems, because of how they might affect skill prices. (Since these will have a noticeable effect, these will no doubt be worth a decent amount, and as such will affect the cost of training whatever skill is used to make them).

Thanks :) I was thinking with the fishing vessels it would take 6-24hrs a trip, that way it wouldn't devalue real fishing that much at all, because in 6-24hrs you could have easily fished 500+ raw while the ships would only bring back 27-100 a trip. It could be just a way to fish, without actually being at a fish spot, you get less but you didn't have to sit on a beach to get it, and while its not much fish it'll add up over a week. It would be profitable, easy fishing but it would still require a high fish and artisan level. Thought your idea was great as well.

Perhaps if voyage shipment is liked they should add land shipments too via kart/caravan. Perhaps the NPC's you are shipping to will trade you valued goods for your shipments like herbs, str pots, food, planks etc. It could be like an entire Artisan commerce system. I hope Mat K reads this?

WOW the yes/no poll would be on June 18th but they keep extending the poll date... they knew it would fail hard so they keep delaying it ffs so people vote yes. Also people are so easy to manipulate, so I hope at least 26% will do their job...

Indeed. That promise was broken, and I do feel left out as well, not getting the opportunity to vote.
Assuming we even get a poll to vote against the artisan, I certainly hope it will be sooner rather than later.
I'm outta here for good if this sh*t passes, I've forgiven Jagex for bad choices too many times by now.

Crafting can already fit that role, by definition.

Logs to Plank -> Crafting.
Bars to Leaves -> Crafting.
Magic stone -> Mining + Magic.
Bagged plants -> Crafting + Farming. Crafting will make a special bag or something. Farming tends the plant.

Hybrid skills are already existing features by the way. Arrows and Bolts are a perfect example. Smithing produces the unfinished bolts and arrow tips. Fletching adds the finishing touch.

Pairing existing skills has worked before and it will work again.

Yes, when construction was first released I didn't understand why everything had to be store bought when we could have just made it ourselves. In fact I spent the first half hour after release figuring out how I could make a log into a plank.

I think Construction was designed with a gold sink mechanic in mind.

The problem was that Jagex didn't understand how players would never just voluntarily "get rid" GP/Items without any compensation.

A good example of a item sink mechanic would be like Duel rings or Ring of Life etc. Those said items end up leaving the game, but in a way that is beneficial too.

A bad example was Construction, your just throwing out GP for almost no reason.

It would be cool if we can make our own construction materials since it serves similar purpose anyway. (item sink)

Here's a random idea thrown out and I'm not sure if anybody has suggested.

Obviously depending on your levels, Artisan could be a chain.

Example : at level 10, you need to chop down 43 willow logs.
But, at level 20, you would have to fletch all 43 logs into bows.
Let's say you have 30, then you will have to string them.

So at level 30, you're not 'assigned' just one task, you're assigned multiple tasks in itself. I think the idea behind it would be to have less tasks at hand specifically (let's say cutting 43 willow logs, instead of 150 @ level 30) & moving onto different tasks whilst doing a task as a whole.

Personally speaking, DO NOT have it so you have to go back to a master to have a new task. Have it be a spell via Lunar Spellbook, and or have it be like the Slayer Helm (i)

There is a potential for this skill to have multiple bugs and or glitches and I hope you guys thoroughly test and test after completion; Even if the skill is voted into the game which is a slim chance. (at this point)

People are conflicted simply because OSRS is outdated in some form. We need little updates consecutively that add up and day by day make our game more enjoyable.

Just please understand what you are going through when trying to release this. It can go either way and really Jagex, you are opening Pandora's Box.

*I will be voting no as of now, until the skill is further developed*
Reason being, we need to patch the holes before trying to move the whole ship further.

I have to say, I really LOVE this entire concept of Artisan. I have a thing or two I would like to state my opinion on, though.

Experience - I really think to give people a bit more motivation to level it, and to make it seem like it's leveling faster that XP should be given per item collected on task. This would be similar to slayer. I mention this because how motivated would you be during slayer to keep training it if you only got boosts of xp at a time? It's pretty difficult to level as it is, being a low xp rate, but I think that Artisan should definitely be similar to Slayer in this manner.

Damage Boosts - Okay, I like the idea of damage boosting items but I feel that they should definitely NOT stack with existing bonuses. i.*. not stacking with salve amulet/slayer mask/etc. I feel that if it did stack then people would be hitting 40s+ on slayer tasks and blowing through them. I know it may be too early to specify this, but I feel that if it's not specifically addressed that many people will assume it stacks & is overpowered, and not want the skill entirely based off of this.

Best of luck with the skill! Looks pretty darn good so far! :)
