Also, I'm not certain I like the idea of being able to make a workshop in the POH, unless other artisan workshops had very convenient teleports / banks. I think it'd be a shame if a certain house layout / construction level was required to get the optimal exp.

One of the issues I have is that when I train a non-combat skill I like to grind it out for a good number of weeks, totally focussing my efforts on it. With Artisan, it feels like it will send me away to do things that I don't particularly enjoy or don't want to train at the time; putting me off from training Artisan entirely.

It would be more appealing to me if Artisan can 'help' me train a skill I already have a focus on. Not by allowing me to craft an item to give me extra xp from it, but giving me tasks ONLY related to that skill. So if I felt like grinding mining for a week I could use Artisan to give me mining tasks; mine 200 tin, or 10 runite - as an alternative way of training.

I also worry that, like with slayer, I will be wasting my time training non-combat skills if not done under Artisan because by the time my Artisan level is 99, some of my other skills will be 99 by that time anyway. This feeling will be more intense if training Artisan to 99 will result in a large amount of xp in other skills, but I had already achieved 99 in them skills before Artisans release.

before this dev blog i wouldve voted no. now im not so sure. I like the fact that they took the high level armor and robes out. As long as the totems and runes dont have too much affect on combat i would vote yes i guess. i just worry stuff will be op

wasting so much time on something that will be voted down..

That's precisely the reason we are working on it. In the Update Priority poll, the third most important thing the community voted for was a new skill. We have a responsibility to the community to try and deliver what they want. If something isn't what the community wants, we should make it what the community wants and that's what makes Old School great.

You guys are trying so hard to pass one skill out of 3 choices when there were probably hundreds of other good ideas. You live by that priority poll like it's your destiny. I think you need to repoll the priority poll to see what people truly want. I personally would like to see more quests.

I think the skill is really coming together nicely. I can't wait to see it in game. I would like to add a couple suggestions, though.

First, as with Slayer, there should be a way to cancel tasks if they're too tedious for a player (such as a player with a high fishing lvl getting a Karambwan task.) In this sense, it would also be relevant to add a rewards and points system as well, such to reward players who stick with it and do every task that comes their way. Surely the options for rewards would include cancelling tasks as well.

Second, I love the idea of being able to build shortcuts in the real world. The only thing that bothers me, though, is that the shortcuts would be temporary. Therefore I submit: How about along with Granite slabs, there's another higher lvl resource for tasks (say, 70-80 mining) that would allow for building permanent shortcuts? That way lower lvl players could still build the temporary shortcuts, but the higher lvl players get a better reward for their higher lvl.

Can't wait to see this new skill ingame. Keep up the good work!

Perhaps one could use sandstone for temporary shortcuts and granite for permanent ones?

no i do not agree with that mod mat k but i do feel granite ores should definally last longer before they crumple up and disinegrate

I don't mean to bad mouth the new art skill or anything in that manner but, I would like to bring up a point of a skill that everyone has waited for since 2003. The artisan skill got a lot of votes but, I almost guarantee if you make a Riding Skill then it would get 75% of the community to back it. And isn't that what you want? to make the community happy. Mounts in runescape could be game changing but in the same way make the game much easier since the rest feature for the run was removed. The ability to travel the Mass Map of runescape quickly on a mount depending on your riding level would be amazing. Level one could be just a basic mount. where as level 99 could be a dragon mount. I am uncertain if mounts are even possible in the script runescape is written in but if it is the Old school team must look into doing it for their community.

WOW the yes/no poll would be on June 18th but they keep extending the poll date... they knew it would fail hard so they keep delaying it ffs so people vote yes. Also people are so easy to manipulate, so I hope at least 26% will do their job...

Instead of wasting the Dev's time on creating a new skill no one wants why dont you implement things people actually want.

Dragon defender
possible dragon claws
some of the quests we had in pre EOC
you guys got alot of positive feedback from new clue scrolls and addition of lava dragons etc thats the kind of stuff we want and is awesome.

Runescape 07 doesnt need a new skill that EOC doesnt have. If we werent happy with the skills in 2007 we would go play EOC.

I personally would like to see 2007 slowly turn into PRE EOC runescape over the next 2-5 years.

Numbers dont lie. Whenever i would log in PRE EOC i would see 120-150k people online and every world had 1200+ people in every world. Now there is like world 1 full with 2k and 100-200 people in every world. How can you guys not see that and not get sad about losing all those players and try things to fix it ?????? It doesnt make sense to me can you please explain your logic in this?

In the update priority poll a new skill was the 3rd most important thing the community wanted.

YES a new skill is the 3rd most important thing. A NEW SKILL so NOT artisan..
