This is probably my first post to the forums ever, and I've been playing since the release of Slayer/Farming, (I can't remember which, it was so long ago) but it was needed. My silence lasts no more.

I've read the first few, maybe 10, pages of this and all I see is hate and negativity against the skill mostly directed from PKers, people who don't need the experience in some skills because they've already hit 99 and others who just hate it.

I'm not sure what they read but it certainly couldn't have been the same thing I read.

This skill offers an incredible upgrade to the game that we can't miss out on! It clearly states that all players will benefit from this new skill. Whether it be PKers, Skillers or Standard leveling accounts. All types of players will be affected and in a positive way. Superior food items, double runes (that multiplier is ridiculously amazing), superior arrows etc give each player type that slight advantage that others may, or may not, have. The incentive to level this skill for items is also an incredible bonus, who doesn't want those stat bonuses and Motes of Inspiration.

I also noticed someone pointing out that they couldn't be bothered with the time or energy to gain experience in the skill. The answer is simple, don't. You might not have leveled farming past 20, so why believe you must master Artisan?

Then there was another person claiming that this skill would cost to much to level. I'm not going to lie, I was dumbfounded at the remark that you needed to pay to level this skill. I don't think they read the initial post.

Once again, this skill can only benefit the players of OldSchool Runescape, not negatively affect them. It must be implemented....please.

Thanks for reading,
Envious Burn.

Sounds good. I do hope we have a trade solution before this skill is developed so that high level players can be efficient by purchasing materials?

I do hope the artisan masters offer much larger tasks than the slayer masters? I don't really want to keep swapping tasks every hour when say greater than 70 artisan. Perhaps we could use the pickaxes to get speedy motes and trade these to the artisan masters for 'marathon' tasks?

Another idea...perhaps we can craft something using artisan which increases slayer xp? Perhaps like the combat items but for slayer monsters?

Voting no and I hope a lot of others will do the same. Sure, it looks alright and go ahead and add it right into RS3, but I don't feel like oldschool needs more content. The updates are already getting very questionable and I would hate to see it further ruined. Don't like the look of the rewards from artisan, double ores double runes etc no thank you... and as far as the skill itself well theres nothing new about it? its a minigame not a skill tbh. Def don't want to see this in "OS"RS.

This is yet another example of jagex messing up. They had a winner with old school, it brought back a lot of the people that quit with EOC, so what do they do? They FAIL TO LEARN THE LESSON! They don't learn that messing with a winner makes it a loser! Personally, I don't want Artisan. And I don't want to waste my tears of guthix on it. I am a skiller, but if they wanted to refocus us all on skilling, why didn't they just bring back Shattered Hearts? That was a winner....and as a minigame did not ruin the overall content. I really hope they give the option of "deleting" Artisan from our skill lists the first month it comes out...that way those of us who love Real Old School can keep playing the real game. Also, why should they do this major overhaul when they can't even manage the minor ones? I'm still waiting for a full sized screen (helps those of us with vision impairments), also waiting for special logs in hardwood forest, a tool belt and maybe the Runespan. Not happy with os

With the eminent trading solution, my only hope to stay interested in Old School was the new skill. My least favorite content in MMOR** games are those "fetch 100 logs" or "kill 100 rats" quests, and now OSRS is gonna have two whole skills dedicated to that type of activity.
When Old School first started, It was the game me and plenty of other people loved back in 2007. August 2007 is almost the paradigm of Runescape before the trade restrictions.
Following the trade restrictions and the Grand Exchange, a lot of my friends I'd made on Runescape quit, and eventually I did too, for a long time. It's happening again; the game will never be the same for me with the grand exchange present. I don't think I'll be active on old school for very much longer, which is a shame since I put a lot of hard work into my account and I have some very fond memories of this whole project already.
I just don't know why this keeps happening. I could honestly live with this skill, but it's just reminiscent way too much of the daily challenge system, combined with the slayer formula and a sort of RS3 rewards thing in place. :(

This is infinitely better than the Divination skill, or indeed any skill I've seen added to the game except Summoning and Construction.

I'm not sure whether to applaud you or feel disappointed in the RS3 team, but this will almost certainly be what gets me back into skilling on the OSRS servers.
