I'm sorry but none of this seems exciting at all... there needs to be better rewards and more high level content pertaining to the skill... Overall I'm very disappointed, I expected a much better execution of the skill breakdown, there just isnt enough here to make a full skill.

Not much info regarding the sorts of tasks you can expect and whether or not you can choose which way you train it (ie.. why would I want to train it with skills I'm already 99 in? I don't want to train farming can I train herblore instead? etc. Slayer offers this choice)

Looking like a no.

You mean like they way you use the slayer points?

Now that you mention it, yes that does also apply. :P Albeit in a slightly different way.

What I meant primarily was that when you get assigned a slayer task you can pick how you want to complete it. Training att/str/def/range/magic, you can do whichever you want. Here it seems as though you're forced into training... say, Farming when in actuality I'm not interested in training Farming 'cause I'm already 99 or I just flat out hate the skill etc

I think if there was an element of choice it'd increase the appeal. Maybe make it xp based or so that there are multiple ways of completing a task?

i agree with this we shouldnt be forced how we want to train if you give the players the freedom of choice it may become more of an appealing skill to create...

Definite no. This is really the first major OSRS update I've been opposed to.

Basically, it's:
- Do a CURRENT skill task (e.g. make 100 vials) and get Artisan XP + Motes
- Make new items from the Motes

* Idols = Damage boost = making OSRS easier. Do we really need this? It's not like we have a Vorago-tough boss. No need to make bosses easier.
* Artisan tools = this is fine I guess, as it only affects Mote collection
* Inspired Carvings = I don't think we need easier ways to get resources into the game...
* Superior items = Basically stronger versions of current food and arrows
* Clothing = This sounds like Crafting. Why not include Cotton and Linen into Crafting? The main benefit of the clothing I see if just increased Mote chance. The combat items don't look terribly useful except for low defence pures: level 80 Arcus top offers +10 ranged attack, yet level 70 black *'hide top offers +30 ranged attack.

The difference with Slayer is that you are limited to 3 combat styles and most of those can be used on any Slayer creature. Want to melee or range Blue dragons? That's fine. Slayer has a few annoying tasks like Wyverns so I block those.

Artisan will open up a lot of frustrating tasks, like making 50 Antidote+ potions which are a) useless and b) require annoying Yew Roots. How about making 50 Black *'hide Vambs? It's very high cost/xp so no one really makes them for Crafting training except wealthy people. No thank you! People simply don't say "Hey, I am a Crafter. I will make 10 Black *'hide vambraces, bodies, and legs. This is fun" - they make what they think is most efficient to get the level they want.

Overall, I don't like this skill and it sounds more like the "daily" task system that RS3 has. The other choices in the poll were lame too imo... so meh...

Im afraid i too, will be voting no on this. It upsets me because i know youre trying so hard to make a good skill for all of us. But this just doesnt seem fun to me. Also the idea that i have to go train my farming runecrafting and herblore (all level 1s right now) just seems very tedious and unappealing. Please keep up the effort though

Dear Jagex i did you a favor. I took the first 500 post's about the skill on this entire forum page.
an overwhelming 354 posts were negative about the skill
302 of those said they were going to vote "No" or stated they didint want the skill
104 said they agreed with the skill, and 90 of those said they would vote yes
42 were independent.

going by just no vote's you have over a 60% community no vote on average, and mind you need 75% to pass it you would need to get 375 yes vote's, and nearly 400 some positive before the skill would ever even be possible.

This skill is not right for runescape in any way. The top 3 problems being. 1 It add's nothing gameplay wise in the longrun. 2 it is simply a task system glorified in a skill. 3 As good hearted as you might be wanting to get the skill idea from the community its probably better off if you asked someone from 2003 runescape what a good skill idea would be, and have him/her draft an ideal base for it then shoot it to the public.

Please note i did skip over a few rants that were very long. As well as i didint count my own post's or rants.
