Just bring back summoning. This is rubbish.

summoning was boring and didn't do anything and it was annoying to train.

One of the most useful skills ever created, actually. It did devalue some things and that could be adjusted, but it was far, FAR from being a skill that ''didn't do anything''.

I like sum but not as combat level earning skill lol...
I didn't like how you had to collect charms in order to train it.
What are you, a concerned beaver?

I think it's going to be difficult getting a new skill accepted by 75 percent of the community. Skills are often always condemned at first. Hunter, summoning, and dungeoneering was among the condemned skills of the past but they were later accepted by everyone.

Though it is true, in my opinion Artisian was the least workable skill amongst the four. Artisian is the only one I would have voted against. The rest all had great potential, I was surprised the community voted for it over the others.

Still I think it could be possible to get Artisian liked but a complete rework of the skill would be needed. As it is now, I think it's to basic and not creative enough to give that good RS feeling.

I would recommend combining all four skills that were polled, and changing the Artisian name into something new. That would be neat.

Here is an example (I don't mean this specifically.)

Civilization Skill

Watch over, maintain and upgrade a society/city (like Forestry)
Inside your Civilization is your herding plots, forestry, museum for geomancy + astronomy and your Artisian masters. Building the city incorporates all the other good skills as well etc. Even sailing/ports could be added here.

The other option , which would be even more amazing, is if you guys presented a Mounting Skill with Mod Reach new findings that would only coincide with the new continent. Reach didn't think the community wanted a mounting skill, but with the creativity of the players I think they would if something nice was constructed.

The last option,
and probably what the community would see most reasonable would be rejuvenating existing skills. You could do that with many of the PDC entries as well.

Thoughts?

I would like to see something like summoning but completely different from the live game. I would add something like a horse/dragon to increase your speed of moving around. And I would alse completely change the way of training the skill. Something more realistic like you do with a cat. There are different variants of it based on the type/amount/frequency of food you give it etz. Maybe you could even implement something like tribal wars/clash of clans/pokemon like you would have to wait like for example 12 days for the next upgrade of that dragon/horse. And you would have to feed it something untradeable which requires some work to do before getting it. ( each step would give you summoning xp or so )

This would be liked by the players because it's an existant skill, but completely reworked for the oldschool game.

Cool I guess, but I have a few questions.

How long will the idols last once burnt? They sound pretty overpowered.

Also when you use the mining pendants, would you get 2x xp? or just two ores?

Hell no if twice the xp, mining would end up being 100k+/h powermining iron with a full inventory of iron pendants. FAR TOO OP

No thanks. Voting no.

Dungeoneering is minigame, not a skill.

Artisan is like the daily tasks you have in rs3. Not a new skill because you use what already is there.

Yours faitfully,

A No-voter.

By that logic, Slayer is also daily challenges, its the same thing!!!

I was part of the 49%. I voted for artisan because it was the best option out of the five. I wasn't convinced I would vote yes in the final poll, but was curious to see how Jagex would pick it up. The feedback I gave back then already was that the rewards will be a very difficult topic. The current rewards are far from appealing me, so I am afraid I will vote no in the final poll.

Like I (and others) said earlier already is that Artisan sounds more like a minigame than a skill, but then again so did the other four options.

What we can conclude from this search to a skill (were Artisan indeed not to pass the poll), is that there is no skill currently thought off that makes a lot of sense, thus we should probably stop actively looking for a new skill and instead see if we can come up with some interesting minigames instead. If someone would happen to think of a really good idea for a skill, we can always vote again later, but a skill should be implemented because it is a brilliant idea, not because we "need" a new skill.

No, what you are saying makes no sense at all.. Slayer was there way before daily challenges came, if anything the daily challenge system is inspired by Slayer. And so is the Artisan skill.

The difference with Slayer and Artisan is that Slayer unlocks new monsters, which makes sense. Artisan unlocking new resources or products does however not make a lot of sense and is more likely to unbalance the game..
