This game is going to slowly die because of the lack of skilling updates that sailing would have brought. The truth is that old school is currently running on the veterans that used to play old school. These people are in their late teens or twenties and truth is, life is getting more busy for them and playing runescape isn’t always going to be a passtime for them anymore. We need new people to join the game, the younger generation.

Sailing could’ve revived the game significantly in the following year but thanks to the hesistant and over-skeptical selfish community, it won*t pass.

It won't pass because there are people who don't want change.

I would say these people are the most selfish. It's rude to not vote for something that would not affect you, and other people would enjoy.

If it's put into the game it EFFECTS ANYBODY PLAYING THE GAME.

And, it's not a contest on/of/about who is the most selfish.

While I would love to see sailing in the game I was on the fence as I plan to play the game in deadman mode upon release. I had huge concerns with randomly generated caverns providing a safe place for a player to train undermining the purpose of the game type. Whether at this point there is a landslide or not, no hard feelings either way.

The people listing the stupid reasons to vote no also forgot that this update isn't aimed at combat and PvM which so many players exclusively seem to care about.

Wow the amount of people saying they voted no because Jagex needs to put their attention into RS3 vs OSRS is crazy. I thought each game had their own team? What makes you think stopping an update in OSRS will affect RS3? Not enough shakers for all this salt :(

I know Sailing is still being polled but provided it passes I think an awesome idea to get Sailing started would be through a quest. In such quest, a courier would deliver you a message stating your need to return to Tutorial Island to help with an issue at hand: the Island is under attack! However, in order to get back to Tutorial Island you need to piece together a new map to Tutorial Island (similarly to piecing together the Crandor Map in Dragon Slayer) with the Lumbridge Guide's help, and then gain help from a sailor/boat construction worker in constructing a ship. After the boat is constructed you would need to put together a crew of mercenaries to crush the attackers and save the Island for future newcomers. I'm sorry this isn't a detailed post but this idea just hit me spontaneously and I wanted to get it down in text before I forgot. Also I'm not sure if anyone in this forum previously stated an idea similar to this one, but I didn't have enough time to scroll through 36 pages of posts and just wanted this idea shared.

Original message details are unavailable.
When out at sea you will move your ship in the same way that you usually walk with your character.

I'm curious to see how this would work, it seems like it would be rather clunky.

Well sailing isn't passing. Gg to a potentially brilliant skill.

It's sad, I know. What's even more sad is that I've seen people on reddit voting no simply because that pathetic training method known as "splashing" was removed!

If you feel the need to "get revenge" on Jagex by sabotaging their ideas because one of the most controversial training methods was utterly destroyed, you need to stop playing and give up on RS as a whole.
Oh, I almost forgot.
Oh, I already forgot.

this is some of the most ridiculous crap i've ever read
the same arguments you use here were used to pass '*** marriage'
you are literally just trying to bully people into voting yes by claiming that it will not change anything

I'm going to say it: you're wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. The player you quoted was trying to be open-minded, and here you are being a closed-minded *****. The topic you mentioned has no relevance to Sailing, as well.
Oh, I almost forgot.
